Changing seasons ,what's growing now?

It’s Autumn here, apart from Kale,Zucchini,Quince and apples there isn’t much left to be harvested from my garden.I am partial to guava and Feijoa fruit …I found a tree laden with little cherry guavas that I can pick!!
It’s meant to rain today ,it’s quite dusty again but I’ve been planting garden beds with broad beans as a green mulch to grow through the winter.
Salvias and honeysuckle and dahlias are still flowering 😃

Well, here in Frostbite Falls, we got violets and dandelions. Many, many dandelions.
But it’s all good because we pick them and give them to the bunny to eat and he loves them.
Sadly, the snow melted to reveal the mother of all dirt patches in our side yard.
There used to be grass.
Now it’s dirt.
 
The weather is going to cut up rough here, sheep weather alerts are out. And severe weather warnings. It’s all quiet atm.
The grass is finally growing a bit.

I was just thinking, each time rain is forecast we get these alerts. Maybe it says a lot about the changing climate.
So rather then just , it’s going to rain, It’s get ready for weather mayhem.

My silkie cross just hatched out 2 chicks. No idea where she stashed those eggs, or when she was sitting on them. But they are the tiniest things. I have cut the bottom off a water bottle, filled it with pebbles , so they can drink. The pebbles are bigger then them.
 
The trees have finally gotten their leafs out fully and the same with my honeysuckle. I lost a lot of my perennials over the winter, but the thyme and chives are growing like mad.
I planted lots of seeds the last couple of days yellow and black mustard, marigolds, lettuce, radishes, spinach, onions, and Swiss chard.
It is a bit early for beans, cucumbers, and squash.
 
At the same time though,there is a lot of hoo ha on the to ,radio and the weather doesn’t turn out to be that bad.My dad used to look towards the mountains and know the weather that was coming,or the sky in the evening and morning and we just took it as it came.
Cropping practices have changed ,with more direct drilling of seed and and less sheep ran on stubble so we don’t loose the topsoil like we used to years back and have dust storms.
We used to get red soil from way up north from the Malee some years ago,carried in the wind.
I wish we had a good cracking thunderstorm though Rose,with heavy downpours for the Autumn break.
That’s a late clutch of chickens! They sound so cute …maybe a photo for the aww thread ?🙂
 
Will you have a go of replanting?I like the way reseeding grass is done, with straw sprinkled over it to protect the seed coming up.Hadnt really seen it done before.

Is there still the chance of frosts Milt?
 
Yes we will replant.
But the tiller and hay method is too time consuming.
I’ll just grab two handfuls of seed and broadcast OT around the area every couple days.
I find that works too

He’s an indoor bunny and hops all around. He’s pretty good about not chewing wires and stuff, but when he acts naughty we put him back in his cage
 
There should be no frosts until late fall. Normally our last ones occur in mid April.
It has warmed up quite a bit, and yesterday it was around 80 F / 26 C with a bit of humidity in the mix, and it was very windy. There is supposed to be a storm front moving in sometime today.
I picked up a hybrid petunia called a Supertunia Vista. I have planted these before and it is a very beautiful trailing petunia that is in constant bloom until a hard frost hits. Here’s a stock photo.

Here in Eastern Europe is spring and a nice sunny weather. Not too warm. Just perfect.
I don’t have a garden and the only thing I grow are apartment pots with Kalanchoe. They are the perfect flower for me, surviving and blooming even if they have been through a month long drought (😊😞). They are originally from Madagascar so they like a dry soil.
 
Oh, very beautiful 🙂 I was impressed with phlox I think it was growing over a garden bank ,a mass of pastel purple and pink.
Flowers just don’t grow like that where I live.
Raining heavily,the most we’ve had for months now 😀

Good to hear! My daughter is driving back in it,I sent a message to tell her friend to watch out for boomers in the dark.
I could do some kind of happy dance with the rain haha.Your pigs will apreciate the soft soil ?
 
I have various sunflower seeds I will be planting soon too.
I like sunflowers and so do the birds and squirrels. 🤣
 
I hope that goes well! Do you use chicken wire or something to protect the seed while to germinates?
 
I have in the past, but I use a weed fabric with holes cut out. I will widen the hole as the plant gets bigger. I do not believe squirrels like walking on that, and helps keep weeds away too.
 
They hate wet and wind but love mud!

Hope this is the Autumn break.

Do you make Quince jam
