Exactly, prudential decision for each individual.

Most of us still read Cinderella to our children even though it glorifies disobedience to one’s stepmother.

I agree with the decision. Homosexuality is an abomination! It is a perversion. It says in the bible that those who practice it will not enter the Kingdom of God.
Amen to that. Also good decision by the chaperones considering Luke 17:2. Beware exposing the youth to sin lest you suffer the consequences.

There is a difference between fantasy and reality, and a difference between portraying sin as bad and presenting it as good or normal.

Apparently a number of the students get plenty of having it presented as good at home. They certainly don’t need it from a Catholic school.

From a Catholic standpoint, how are they to “evangelize” if they are always removed from people or situations that are non-Catholic?
I’m confused by your statement. You say it’s ‘overkill’ to leave and that it is the law of the land and they’ll come in contact with gay people. Yet you ask how are they to ‘evangelize’ if they leave non-Catholic situations.

Are you saying they should have stayed in the theater and ‘evangelized’ to those portraying same sex ‘marriage?’ Are you saying at some point in the future they should evangelize to those who think homosexual activity is acceptable?

I’m genuinely unclear on what you think about whether Catholics should speak up against homosexuality or stay in the theater and clap for it.

According to Wikipedia, Cinderella portrays “unjust oppression”.
I think that’s an awesome Social Justice Educational Opportunity!!

More likely they’ll just be led astray.
If you’re saying kids are going to be led astray by being taken to plays, etc that portray sin [whatever sin that might be] as normal–and therefore are of course not going to evangelize to anyone later in life, I 100% agree with you.

It seems to me that in this case to stay is not ‘exposing them’ in such a way that they’ll evangelize, but teaching them that it’s normal and acceptable.

So, not homophobia.
Exactly… “homo-phobia” is a Baloney PC labelling-tactic construct -

Forged to keep folks from speaking/thinking about God’s Teachings re: the Sin of Homo-sexual Sex

Homo-Phobia? Fear of those with SSA (Same Sex Attraction)?

No…

Homosexuals are not sinners by virtue of being homosexual, and should not be treated any differently by any Catholic because of it, yet you find many who are.
@GordonP

And in this case, what was rejected was the portrayal of a homosexual marriage, wasn’t it? The chaperones did not want to expose the students to a situation in which a homosexual marriage was portrayed as normal.
What does the school do when the girls are exposed to the parts of the bible when things are not normal like lot and his daughters??

Or when they go to a birthday party with Mr Smith and his second wife, along with the child’s biological mother, the former Mrs. Smith and her current husband?

So you dont tell the girls they cant read it and if someone reads it out you dont tell them they cant listen. You let them have examples of whats wrong and dont keep them away from them but explain that you think its wrong and why.

Or when they go to a birthday party with Mr Smith and his second wife, along with the child’s biological mother, the former Mrs. Smith and her current husband?
Especially if mr smiths wife is also a mr smith. I cant see it does any good to say that you cant read this or watch that or go to this play because something in it is what we say is wrong. Maybe the girls will not be allowed to read any shakespear either.

So if theres a play about a murder then you dont let them watch that because you dont support murder. Like i said you better not let them read shakespear.

Where on earth are there pornographic parades? The public decency laws in every state would prohibit such in the US.

As for pornographic plays, those are known in the US as “live sex shows” or “peep shows”.

Are you saying that the Chicago Theatre version of the Nutcracker is a peep show?

You didnt say any thing about glorify or condem. You said if it wasnt normal. Murder isnt normal. The church says that having sex with another man is not right but theres nothing wrong with two men loving each other and living in the same house. Lots daughters sleeping with their father wasnt glorifying or condeming any thing. You have to let people see things that you dont agree with and then say why you dont agree with it. Its silly just saying you cant read this or watch this or hear this as long as they are not children.

Have you not seen some of the parades where women walk around naked in protest?

I dont think you know what pornographic means. I dont k ow where you live but i bet that pornographic parades would be illegal. I think pornographic means something you disagree with.

Actually it condemns this practice.

Can you show me where?

As I said above, it is one thing when sin is portrayed as bad, another when it’s portrayed as good.

Notice what happened to those who disobeyed God in Sodom and Gomorrah.

So maybe they live next door to each other or in the same street or in the same neighbourhood and they have their own apartments. Does the church say there needs to be a distance they need to keep apart from each other? Is there a limit of the times they can visit each othere?? Who makes these rules?? Its pretty simple isnt it? Dont have sex. I think its wrong then to say you cant spend time together. Maybe they cant hold hands or hug each other either.

You posted stuff about having sex. Maybe you think that kissing is just as bad. How about a hug or holding hands? What can they do??

So you cant show two men kissing unless you see that they get punished for it. Or you cant read a book about a murder unless the killer gets caught. You cant watch a film about a robbery unless they find out who did it and he goes to jail. Is that it??
