Basically - Who cares? These people are a joke! And they can’t be voted out! All the $$$$ wasted on this bunch!

Now Tony Blair, that’s another story. I really like this man and his family! I think they are true Christians, which is more than can be said for the “Royals” and a lot of the English people these days.
Hey, Gillam, Garg, Fitz, you lot tell me I’m prejudiced? and this ones one of yours!!!😛

Reading large bold type really makes me appreciate those who just use normal type.
:amen: and a pox on the “crayon colored posts” - together with posts having more individual smilies than text as if it was kindergarten (grumble, mumble, grumble).

I was just wondering how Diana’s children feel about this. I don’t know how they feel, but I know I’d be just a little sickened to know that my father was marrying the woman he had an affair with while married to my mother.

Scout :tiphat:
Since momma had 5 lovers of her own, was racing off with one of them, when she died and was caught making over 350 phone calls to one of them who tried to “end it” - I think they understand.

CinciMom:
Not only that, but if you really think about this, if it were not for Camilla, the divorce would not have happened and Diana may be alive today. . I am not buying that the boys are “delighted” about the marriage.
None of the above sttements have any factual basis whatsoever.

True, so many love to follow this Alice in Wonderland royal family, and yes they are a joke, a very expensive one.
How can anyone support someone that signed the abortion act, it’s like giving credence to John Kerry.
Joshua, your being very naughty and you know it. You as well as anybody with the most basic knowledge of UK law is well aware that the Queen or monarch CANNOT refuse to give royal assent to ANY law passed by parliament, it is part of the constitution. You don’t like the royal family? fine, but don’t make out things that you know are not correct, if your going to base an argument on a falacy you’ve lost before you start.

Within the UK the monarch has no authority, but the monarch by being the head of the army and government **without authority, **denies authority to any one individual. Its a rather neat way of avoiding the possibility of a dictatorship. Nobody can gain absolute power. (not even that nice Mr. Tony Blair).

Thats not entirely true. The Constitutional Monarchy is limited, as you might suppose by the Constitution. The problem is that the UK has no written Constitution so the limits are by convention and practice and can be overidden by grave emergencies.

It is believed that the leader of the biggest party after an election gets to be Prime Minister and stays so until they lose a majority in the Commons or decides to dissolve Parliament. Not so, the Prime Minister is whoever the Monarch decides to appoint. In 1974 for example the Queen initially asked the Tories to attempt to form a government even though Labour had more MP’s.

Also in the 70’s the Australian Government, with similar constitutional arrangements, was dismissed by the Queens representative. Basically because it was too left wing.

In summary the Monarch retains enormous residual powers in potential. It has not exercised them but as long as it has them then there is the basis for a wholly legal coup d’etat against democracy. This is unlikely unless of course we elect a radical, reforming left wing governemnt. Then it becomes probable.

If we had a written constitution and a Republic then our liberties would be more secure.

When in Scotland I saw the Queens throne in St. Giles. Of course as no one was looking I sat on it. So I guess I was briefly the King. It felt good.

To quote Mel Brooks"It’s good to be King".

What a mess. Sigh. I hope the Queen leaves the crown to Prince William and just skips over the boomer generation. The kid seems to have a decent head on his shoulders too and could bring a breath of fresh air to the entire monarchy.

ummm ! I’m a naughty boy then :o

So she signed something she neither agrees or dissagrees with ? how docile, no better than Pontius Pilate when he washed his hands of Jesus.
Your right about me not liking the royal family, how did you guess ? 😃

There is only one King for me,Christ the King, and Mary the Queen of Heaven, all others fall short.

Oh well time to take myself off this thread, as you won’t get anything good coming from this end.
Hey Norwich this is the only royal family I care for, and yes they are a joke, really funny.

how can any right thinking person accept the concept of the british monarchy, they are just a bunch of spoiled right wing protestants, who think britain is it’s play ground, time for it’s abolition or even time to stop fleecing the tax payer for this elitist groups upkeep

The Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, said: “I know that Catholics will join with me at this time in praying for the Prince of Wales and Mrs. Parker Bowles and in wishing them every happiness.”

And there-- as fat Jack Falstaff might say-- ends his catechism.

Nothing to suggest that this couple does not recognize the meaning of Christian marriage. Nothing about the fact that matrimony is a sacrament, which is why the ceremony should be held in a church. Nothing about the fact that one partner to this union is a Catholic, who is already married, and thus the proposed union is adulterous.

I wish them every happiness too, your eminence. In this life, I guess. Their relationship could cause them some serious problems in the next life, but nobody wants to hear about that now.

Tally Ho!

This is as good as it gets here in England - Murphy O’Gormless provides no true spiritual leadership to anyone, let alone Catholics. He wouldn’t recognise an apostate situation if it declared itself as such to his face. He’s right, though, they do need prayers - but not for their ‘happiness’, rather for their eternal salvation.

Charles’ ‘bidie-in’ is commiserated
Code:
TOMMY SHERIDAN wants the Scottish Parliament to congratulate Prince Charles for making an honest woman of his "bidie-in" - but extend its sympathy to Camilla Parker Bowles on marrying into a "dysfunctional" family.
The former leader of the Scottish Socialist Party - which believes in an independent, republican Scotland - has tabled a motion on the forthcoming Royal nuptials, which he hopes will be called for debate.

The move comes as an opinion poll claimed the Prince of Wales faces an uphill struggle to win public support that he should one day become King.

Mr Sheridan’s motion, headed “Commiserations to Camilla” reads: “That the Parliament notes the forthcoming marriage of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles; expresses its congratulations to the heir to the throne for finally making an honest man and woman of himself and his bidie-in, and expresses commiserations to the bride-to-be on marrying into a family which has been described as dysfunctional.”

I just hope Camilla gets a new hair-do. Oh, she needs it!!!
She goes to the same hairdresser that Teresa goes to! Did I really say that. All in good fun. They’re both extremely wealthy, but obviously don’t care about that. Maybe hippies?

O for Pete’s sake! Has the Scottish Parliament nothing better to do? And they say the RF is a waste of taxpayer money! At least they bring in tourism $$$.

She isn’t Catholic, her former husband is. The heir to the British Throne is forbidden by law to marry a Catholic. I believe that the former husband had a decree of nullity, though I’m not sure. It wouldn’t be hard to get, as he married her in her church without his ordinary’s permission.
