Frankly… I was “under-whelmed”. Its the same old-same old… “Same stuff, different day”. I have serious doubts that he is a “former Catholic”…and I will say that if I had a nickel…no make that a “penny” for every “internet former Catholic”…I could buy a brand new Ferrari in the morning “cash”.

The blog is little more than regurgitation of someone else’s statements…which the young man did not originate from his “noggin”, but he was polite enough to give the source for them.

SIA, my friend, we do read scriptures…but we don’t memorize them in bulk…we actually read them, seek the truth in them, and we do understand what they mean to us. I might be inclined to suggest that you “lighten up” just a little…its better for your blood pressure.😉

In fairness to the Anglicans we have some very nice ones on this forum…They are trying their best to live out their faith with tolerance and kindness toward others

This is true…and there are also a couple of others that aren’t too bad either. 😃

Peace!

If he was 24 yrs old and Catholic, you would say it without the sarcasm. Most of you on here are pretty much the same and it’s sad. If you only knew the saving power of Christ. Heck, if you only knew the Scriptures you supposedly read!
I wish we all knew them better. However, what we do know is on the correct path, rather than one of heresy like you promote. It’s the humble who choose to follow the path Christ gave us, including His Church, and his “Prime Minister.” To the arrogant, like yourself, the Kingdom of God is hidden from you in plain sight. Only the humble will enter the Kingdom of God.

If this guy was 24 and Catholic, he’d be at least in the right place, with true doctrine and dogma, the true and real Body of Christ.

Are you guaranteed to be able to interpret the Scriptures which you hold Authoritative? If not, how do you know you believe in the truth?

This is a Mormon blog, not protestant for the record. They don’t like us either (to much common sense for them to handle).
REALLY thats odd because i found out about the site from some guy who was ranting about Jehova Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventist and MOrmons calling them all FAlse Prophets. I looked at the site for the information against JWs he gave me and it said learntoreason. Maybe i got the wrong site.

I agree… but SIA is anti-Catholic because he used to be Catholic. He’s always pushing the party line - the Anti-Catholic Party.

When I followed the link it had all sorts of references to Mormonism? So I’m pretty sure it’s Mormon …

Don’t get me wrong, I’m certainly not saying there are not anti-Catholic protestants out there (or vise versa). There’s pin heads of every stripe in this world, oh well?

He’s Christian. If you click on the “Bible vs. Book of Mormon” he is witnessing to a Mormon woman.

“As far as what church I go to, I go to a Pentecostal Church. I don’t like to affiliate myself with any particular denomination so I usually tell people that I am non-denominational. I go to a Baptist church on Wednesdays and I tend to get the best out of different churches and ministries.”

You just won’t stop ranting will you. You are right and everyone else is wrong.

I wonder if either side will be Christian enough to simply stop this pointless bickering back and forth.

Peace
James

I don’t agree.
based on?

I mean really SIA… At 24 yo most don’t have full understanding of their faith whether Catholic, Protestant or anything else. You are being very argumentative here…

First, I would like to ask everyone to pause and see if they are posting in charity. I would love the borderline attacks to stop.

Second, we should discuss the claims made by the blogger.
  1. When he says that he is now Christian instead of Catholic, it shows that he does not know either.
  2. It is not strange that a young adult would try new things. The issue is what does he know before leaving.
  3. He never lists what it was about the Catholic Faith that he found problematic, nor does he list how and way he left.
  4. He does not seem particularly anti-Catholic, other than the not Christian type of thing.

here is the mission statement;

*My name is Justin. I came to know the ‘real’ Jesus in 2004 during my sophomore in college. I was born and raised in a Catholic family, following all of the rituals and traditions that were passed down from my parents. At later point I will talk more in depth about my conversion from Catholicism to Christianity and how to share Christ with a Catholic.

I, like many Christians out there, am very disappointed and appalled to see Christianity heading in a downward spiral towards ambiguity. Many are out of touch with what they believe and are not able to explain their salvation in Christ.*

WHAT SAY YE?

Wow!

I read Justin’s blog, what he believes, and all I can say…is praise the Almighty Sovereign God for what He has done for Justin…to the praise of His glorious grace!!

You Must Be Born Again

3:1 Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. 2 This man came to Jesus [1] by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again [2] he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. [3] 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You [4] must be born again.’ 8 The wind [5] blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

9 Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you [6] do not receive our testimony. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man. [7] 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. [8] - John 3

Wisdom from the Spirit
6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—

10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual. [3]

14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Cor 2

Yes, and what does it mean to be born again… i.e. born of water and the spirit?

Catholic answer is Baptism.

Many others have a false idea of what this means, which will not lead them into what Christ asked us to do.

The Catholic answer is not necesarily the biblical answer. Please re-read my post, since I added additional Scripture for spiritual insight for those who have ears to hear. 🙂

Paul holds that Baptism places you in the Body of Christ and Baptises you into his death and ressurection. Peter says that you are saved through the water as Noah was. The Catholic position IS the Scriptural one.

Besides, why would Jesus make a symbol a requirement of salvation?

Therefore, you agree on the official Roman Catholic teaching of baptismal regeneration?

As did the Apostles, yes. As many times as I have seen both the official teaching and the Scritures, I have never seen a disconnect.

Thanks for your reply. It actually is the Biblical answer. I reread your post, and I still maintain the same truth as I stated before. You provide no new truth, nor additional richness of the existing truth which I shared with you. Here’s a broader statement that covers this particular idea of Catholic teaching of baptism as well… There is nothing in Catholicism that conflicts with anything in the Bible. There is nothing in the Bible that conflicts with anything in Catholicism.

Those who have ears to hear, yet hear only what they want are not listening to Christ, but to themselves. The Catholic Church does not do this, but listens more fully to Christ than any other faith.
