I honestly would have just called the police and reported her for harassment. Yeah, I know that sounds cruel and all but I simply cannot stand Fundamentalists who constantly bug you about whether or not you are “born again” and all of that stuff. I couldn’t imagine how I would have reacted if she had followed me to my car! UGH!

If you had a cross around you,you can show her that and then run away

Magic Sizing is a type of starch for when you ever decide to iron clothes. I don’t do it unless I really have to by the way.
Slightly off-topic, but I know someone who has evangelical leanings that requested her son remove his “dirt devil” out of the house. 😃

I would have said, “Jesus doesn’t want me walking around in wrinkled clothes. He also thinks I shouldn’t spend all day ironing. So He invented fabric finish. I don’t know who named it ‘Magic Sizing’ but I feel sure that He doesn’t mind me using it.”

I would have just said, “I’m sorry, my mother brought me up to not discuss religion, politics, or sex with people I don’t know - it’s not considered polite.”
you, dear friend, are known as the fast on the uptake kind.;):)Peace, Carlan

I’ve had something similar happen, but no following to car thank God.

I responded in a very nice voice that I’m more interested in the product than a label, and that in the same token slapping a Jesus label on something to sell it doesn’t make it “christian”. And finished it with…“have a good day”.

They did not know what to make of me. LOL

I can see how this would be kind of funny. My daughter calls deviled eggs angel eggs. I have talked with her pretty much about this but nothing convinces her that it means deviled(sepperated) well I suppose the devil did sperrate himself from God. Anyways I can see how the elderly is a bit maybe dementia, but still I agree with SJ that we need to respect her. the trouble I see can happen is she is trying to pull someone into her fear.I had a friend that had a car called a demon, I can’t remember what brand and she just scratched off the symbol on the car and drove it. So there you go change word to angel with black marker or paint over it. I still liked another brand anyways.
BArb
Roosterferians prefer deviled eggs, or so I’ve heard.

All the wise cracking comments are making me laugh so hard it hurts.
I was at a fabric store once and watched a Holiness Lady get upset over the name “stitch witchery”, she was making appliques. I mean she was dead serious too! lol

But I feel for the elderly lady in that she probably meant well.

Was Aunt Esther in line behind you? Did she hit you with her purse and call you a heathen?

Sanford and Son reference for people born after 1980

If that had been the case, that would’ve been awesome. 😃

“Ye got the devil in ya!”

Is there really an Aunt Esther? 😃
You haven’t been around that many Black Baptist grandma’s have you. LOL

BTW, I watch that show every day on cable. Most of them are new to me, and they are funny! Gives me a chance to catch up on that old show “Amen” too.

I live in Quebec, so you are correct, although if they’re apt to hit me over the head because I’m Catholic then I’m glad I don’t have any around. 😃

I still don’t know who this Aunt Esther is though.

Sanford and Son starred Redd Foxx, he played Fred Sanford.

His wife Elizabeth had died. Aunt Esther is Elizabeth’s sister. The running joke is that Fred and Esther hate each other. Elizabeth was supposedly perfect. Esther can’t figure out what her sister saw in Fred, Fred can’t believe his wife was Esther’s sister. Esther usually calls Fred a heathen, tells him that “The Lord will strike you down.” Fred always comments on Esther’s homeliness. Funny stuff.

(Fred Sanford clutching chest and swaying): “This is the Big One. I’m coming Elizabeth!” 😃 🤣

Sorry to derail (further), couldn’t resist the Sanford and Son reference.

In Christ,

Ellen

If this happened to me, this is where I put my being Filipino to good use. I’ll just pull out the, “sorry, no english” card :D:D:D:D

Thanks for the description, it does seem funny (I think I’ll take a peek at the youtube video Apollos provided).

Actually, I’m suddenly reminded of an episode of one of my favorite shoes, Mystery Science Theater 3000, about a guy and two robots stuck in space and forced to watch (real life) terrible movies.

The movie was called “A Touch of Satan,” and is about a young man who comes across a farm family, falls in love with the girl, and eventually finds out she has a pact with Satan (great plot, eh?). Well before he finds out, he finds out when they go to town that the townspeople think she’s a witch. So they’re in a store, and everyone’s looking at the two all awkward-like. As they’re walking out, the man turns around and screams “ZAH!!”, shocking the townsfolk.

So…next time someone berates you for getting something with the word “magic” in it, look them right in the eye and scream, “ZAH!!!” 😃
