I just heard on the local news that VP Cheney is finally breaking his silence on his hunting accident tonight on Fox News. Call me a gossip hound…but I can’t wait to watch.

I feel for him though…bad break.

I might even watch it. Of course the MSM will be crying foul since they will not be able get to him first.

Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill Cheney to Break Silence on Hunting Accident:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi drove home the theme of a closed government being bad for democracy.
“Open government would demand that the vice president come clean on what happened there. Our hearts and our prayers, every night, go out to the gentleman who was hurt in this incident, and it is probably a very simple answer to it. But we have to break this habit of the administration of closed government without the openness that is healthy for a democracy,” said Pelosi, D-Calif.
Is she serious? :whacky:

You know i will start listen them (dems in congress or MSM) when they stop refering to him as “gentleman who was hurt in this incident”…He has a name it is …Harry Whittington … use it…if your not use his name there has to be a reason maybe

1.) To hide his pirvacy because he is a private citizen…but then that blows your whole argument that the press needed to know right then and there…because maybe that meant that the VP wanted to wait until the man was doing better medically so that Harry could get a spokesperson or decide how he wanted things handled…so that the press wouldn’t make it into a big deal…

2.) It shows that you don’t know they facts because you can’t even recall who the other person was in the accident…so maybe your lazy or that you look for any excuse to come after the VP–need proof they are already saying if this man dies that Dick will be charged… or that Dick should resign…

Slander is what the MSM is all about. Love this one this morning…Cheney shooting… not hunting accident, just shooting. I and my husband are both hunters, and have hunted pheasant in the same manner that you hunt quail. I stepped out of the line once to retrive a bird and got my butt chewed for about 10 minutes on the subject. It happens!!!

It’s really amazing how people appear more concerned with the VP’s “feelings” than the health of a 78 year old man “shot” in the face and heart. I’m glad to hear Mr. Cheney is taking full responsibility because some of the VP’s supporters have been pretty inappropriate in their rush to blame the victim.

And where did you get the idea that “people” (whoever they are supposed to be) care more about the VP’s feelings than about Mr. Whittington’s injuries? Because we are discussing the VP being interviewed this afternoon? But, that’s the topic of this thread. You are free to start a new thread to go into the depths of the victim’s injuries if you like, but I don’t see what his injuries have to do with discussing how people are overreacting to this whole incident.

And as for “blaming” the victim, Mr. Whittington was where he wasn’t supposed to be when he was shot, so, in reality it was his fault, but anyone could have made such a mistake. The whole thing was just an unfortunate accident. Why are “some people” so bent on making more of it than it is? Why??? :hmmm:

Where did I get the idea? Probably when I posted about Mr. Whittington’s heart injury and was berated for even bringing it up.

As for the shooting being Mr. Whittington’s fault, I think it’s scandalous the way that people immediately began blaming the man shot in the heart and face without knowing what really happened. It seems that people just fell in line behind whatever story was decided upon. In the end, anyone handling a gun knows about the awesome responsibility that comes with it.

I commented on the Cheney interview by saying I was glad that he had finally come forward, taken responsibility and tried to clear up unnecessary confusion.

Cheney: ‘I’m the Guy Who Pulled the Trigger’
NEW YORK — Vice President [Dick Cheney](javascript:siteSearch(‘Dick Cheney’)😉 told FOX News on Wednesday that he alone is responsible for a weekend hunting accident in which he shot Austin attorney [Harry Whittington](javascript:siteSearch(‘Harry Whittington’)😉.
“Ultimately I’m the guy who pulled the trigger that fired the round that hit Harry,” Cheney said in his first interview since the incident. “I’m the guy who pulled the trigger and shot my friend, and that’s something I’ll never forget.”

Cheney’s first public response following the shooting comes more than 72 hours after the accident. His silence has been met with bewilderment and anger by some in Washington, D.C. But on Wednesday, the vice president seemed to express deep remorse.

I’ll try to find a recording.

I’m not a hunter, but as many Scoutmasters, I am trained to handle weapons on a range. I think he made one mistake he will regret the rest of his life. It is truely sad.

Now, call me crazy, but I actually agree with what Nancy Pelosi said. And by the way, she’s not the only one who’s said it.
