Catholic Dude:
Yea, kind of. I was dealing with a protestant on another board that kept making the claim the LXX NEVER EXISTED and I did a google search with a few lines he put out and I found it was a chick tract trying to argue it is made up. Well on the home page I saw the rack and I had to post such a sad excuse for apologetics aimed at the weak.

p.s. I went back and looked and found out I had the price wrong, it says:
Code:
**How much does it cost?**

**•** $80.00 rack without tracts*
**•** $45.00 with an order of 1,500 tracts*
**•** $10.00 with an order of 3,000 tracts*
**Plus shipping. Custom printings not included.*
And I added those up + shipping and got my number. I didnt realize it DID NOT come full of tracts. So I just went and looked (yes I was bored) and I found that:

1,500 tracts cost $191!!!
3,000 tracts cost $369!!!

Someone’s out to make a few $$$$ along the way!!
Well, it does look like someone is out to make a few bucks. Can anyone tell me where I can find the people who buy them and set them out as freebies around the Detroit area, with the price of gas I thought maybe I would save a few bucks on tilet paper.

That, and then Watchtower tracts beside it. Hhmm…I think you’re set for life in keeping some people away from your house then…

Apologies for a slight hijack.

NB: I am explicitly **NOT **questioning the action nor judgement of the moderator. De gustibus non est disputandum. But if defending my reputation will get me disciplined, well, at least I will have my reputation.

Due to the nature of the joke (multiple meanings of “chick” and “rack”) and the broad field of imagery that might fall into various persons’ categories of “offensive” (especially those images dealing with multiple meanings of the above words), I feel I need to defend my reputation.

It was a picture of a roasted chicken with bikini tan lines.*

To all who would find that offensive, my sincere apologies.

To all who wondered what sort of filth I had included here, now you know.

(* I actually thought twice about posting it, not due to offense, but because it is sometimes attached to a computer virus.)

Another item from the Chick website is a video of the Gospels, featuring really bad oil paintings: The ad includes this quote:

You can almost feel the crackling flames of hell as you watch!

And this blurb:
**In a day when many Christians are producing watered-down, politically-correct films, The Light of the World provides exactly what you would expect from Jack Chick-a straightforward, biblically accurate, no-punches-pulled presentation of the gospel with a compelling salvation appeal. **

How about this assessment:

**Some people have expressed concerns that Mel Gibson’s film, “The Passion,” slated to open before Easter 2004, might steal the wind from “The Light of the World’s” sails. But Helms said it’s quite the contrary.

“Are you kidding? This is the greatest thing that could happen,” Helms said. "This will only bring more publicity to "The Light of the World.’ " **

Lots of good stuff available from Chick!

Truly a master of the arts. If only more protestants would follow his lead just imagine the difference in the world it would make…

E.E.N.S.:
After all, he believes that he is doing the will of God. 😉
The Will of God??? Using lies to turn people away from the Catholic Church is NOT doing the Will of God. In SOME instances, Chick, I’m sure does think what we teach is wrong. But when he makes up lies (like Fr. Rivera, Catholics are taught to worship idols, Catholics killed millions in the Inquisition, etc.) to convert, I don’t think even God would approve.

I understand someone trying to convert me, and appreciate their efforts as long as they are doing it without lying. For instance, if someone tells me “I worship statues”, and I show them in the Catechism our teachings on the Communion of Saints and intercessory prayer, then they are knowingly lying when they tell other Catholics that they “worship statues”.

I would never knowingly lie about someone’s religion in order to convert them. NEVER!

OK, back to Jack Chick, don’t you think that he’s gotten numerous lessons in Catholicism by irate Catholics through the years, yet he still spreads lies about our beliefs?

I’ll let someone else borrow the soapbox for now!

That’s why Chick refuses to debate or answer questions. Either would force him to acknowledge that he does know that he is lying about the Church.

I can’t imagine what kind of thought process leads a man to make money by lying about others in the name of religion.

Priests would get carpal tunnel syndrome from all the baptisms, and we would have to do RCIA sessions in shifts just to handle the crowds.
