Provided the perp isn’t tripping on God knows what substance that makes him impervious to Tazing, that is.

Yeah, it’s rare but they are out there. PCP will let you do just about anything except defy gravity. Tazers are billed as non-lethal, but that’s not altogether accurate. People have biffed it due to being tazed. One of the biggest problems is for people who smoke and keep their ciggies and Bic lighters in their breast pocket. The tazer zaps the lighter and it becomes a small IED right next to their heart.

If an individual is tripping on certain substances (PCP for example), and depending on the constitution of the individual in question, not even a bullet will stop them. I personally know fellow officers who had to fire at least three rounds into junkies who just kept coming, absorbing the lead, and still full of fight.

These are things that we, as cops, have dealt with on a day-to-day basis; things that most of the public is blissfully unaware of, because they don’t have to deal with that type of stuff. Pray that you never do.

Less lethal, not non-lethal. Plenty of people have been killed by tasers. Good on the constable for making sure he’s okay with his own medicine though.

Wolseley’s right on about PCP – it’s crazymaking. Those news stories where feats of superhuman strength and endurance are attributed to general ‘drugs’? It’s a safe bet PCP was involved.
