I think it’s important for us to understand what Fr Amorth is saying here.

He’s not saying that the Papacy has failed or that the Church has failed. He’s saying that there are people in positions of power who are being attacked by the devil and some give in and are lead astray. Which I’m sure we can all guess already 🙂

He also said the Holy Father supports exorcisms and understands the power of the devil too.

So it’s not Fr Amorth vs the Church… it seems like some of you are implying that. That’s not actually what he is saying. He’s with the Church, but the Church has a human element as well as a divine one and the people in it are being attacked, because it is the true Church of Christ and the devil hates it.
well explained. i think some people are misunderstanding what father is saying.

today, i was watching the news about the america border. i had never thought about it but what is hapening is that the drug cartel actually are sending their men to become border patrol for america. they somehow infiltrated the border patrol. so, the patrol is contaminated.

the same way, the Church can become contaminated by the wrong people. it is happening. there is a lack of discernment in teh Church for many years.

As the Protestant Church has always proclaimed since the early 16th Century, Father Gabriele Amorth, the Papal Chief Exorcist confirms. The grisly fact that the Synagogue of Satan is in the Vatican.

Check it out in the international news!!!

“Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4
is it what you guys preach at your gathering to keep people from knowing the Church Jesus built? from knowing the Truth? we know that the CC was sent to preach the Word of God. but you, who sent you? let me guess, you read the Bible and claimed?

Yeah sure. Take the words of a guy who has finally unhinged from seeing other people unhinged via demonic possession. That sure does wonders for the Protestant “Church”'s reputation for “intelligence”.

I have a twofold response to this thread: Firstly: Satan and Gehenna are clearly defined by Christ in the Gospels, yet to many Catholics, these truths seem to be ancillary and almost embarassing. Secondly: Being a Roman Catholic on the Catholic Answers Forum and reading our Holy Church referred to as the “Synagogue of Satan” by a Protestant poster, and then enduring this slight, realizing that no moderator had immediately kicked that vile anti-papist off of this site, is very discouraging. Yet, in the tradition of our faith, I refrain from making response to our Protestant visitor, whose vitriolic indignation belies a faith both puny and moribund.

After all the child rapes, molestations, cover-ups, and homosexual activities of the clergy, how can anyone say Satan is NOT at work within the Church? The Faith of the Church is perfect, but the human aspect is anything but…

I believe the exorcist.

Excerpt from The Message of Akita; approved in 1988 as worthy of belief by the then-Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Ratzinger.
“The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see Cardinals opposing Cardinals, Bishops against other Bishops. The priests who venerate Me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres (other priests). Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises, and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.
“The demon will be especially implacable against the souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of My sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will no longer be pardon for them.
“…Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able to still save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in Me will be saved.”

Whether the good father is right or wrong, I do not know.

I know that Satan will attack those who are seeking to live a holy life and lead others to do likewise. It is basic military strategy. Why attack those who do not threaten you? It would be a waste of resources. Sometimes the most effective military attacks are those helped by double-agents…an insider, if you will. So, Fr. Amorth’s assertion is not outside the realm of logic.

This should not cause despair. We should pray all the more for our priests, bishops, and the Holy Father. But, as to the sanctity of the Church, we need not fear. After all, our Lord Jesus Himself said:

“And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” Matt. 16:18

The Catholic Church is the only church that can rightly claim true apostolic succession from Peter, the Rock. In the Aramaic, the Scripture above reads “You are Rock, and on this rock…”; it is specifically Peter, not just all Christians, as some might claim. On this Rock, the Lord Jesus has built His Church - the Holy Catholic Church. And the gates of the netherworld will not prevail against it.

The Lamb of God has triumphed, and His Church is a triumphant Church. The Church is, at all times, the Church Militant, Church Suffering and Church Triumphant. Note that we here are on earth are the Church Militant - from the same root word as “military.” We take the fight to the enemy. So, if Satan has in fact infiltrated the Vatican, it is time for us to fight all the harder! You don’t surrender when the enemy is near; you don’t run away. You fight longer, harder, more. We fight with prayer. We fight with fasting. We fight with the Rosary. We beg Heaven’s mercy and grace on us. And we ask the saints to pray with us.

So, if Satan has infiltrated the Vatican (or anywhere else in the Church), it’s time for us as Catholics to “bring it!” :crossrc:

Amen brother. we dont abandon the ship during the storms, we stay in her for our salvation. i always remind myself of when St Paul was in the ship to Rome as prisoner. the storm came and St Paul told them to stay in the ship and no one would die. and everyone lived. this is a test to our faith. people come and go but the Church will go on for the next generation. just like our Lord said.

you are right. i remember that in Brazil, a priest was accused for sex abuse. but he was innocent in the end. he endured the accusations quietly because he did not want to cause any more scandal to the Church. in the end he was vindicated. Glory to God.

Although the gates of hell will not prevail, they certainly are going to try! I don’t doubt this. The devil has always had beef with the Holy Church and will do everything in his power to stop it.

Very true, friend. Satan has a beef with the Catholic Church because she is the greatest threat to him on earth. He hates the Church because he knows that he will not prevail against her. He hates the Most Holy Eucharist because it is the Real Presence of Christ Crucified - which Satan cannot endure. Christ conquered sin, death, and Satan on the Cross, and Satan hates the Church all the more because in her is the presence of Christ Crucified, a constant triumph over Satan’s power.

Wisdomseeker, may God bless the priest in Brazil! And I love St. Paul; we stay in the boat!

It seems fitting that this comes up during Lent. It should spur us to even more prayer! :crossrc:

Most gracious Heavenly Father,

We thank you for our faithful priests and bishops, whose spiritual fatherhood and example of fidelity, self-sacrifice, and devotion is so vital to the faith of your people.

May our spiritual fathers be guided by the examples of Saints Peter and Paul, all the Apostles and their saintly successors. Give them valiant faith in the face of confusion and conflict, hope in time of trouble and sorrow, and steadfast love for you, for their families, and for all your people throughout the world. May the light of your Truth shine through their lives and their good works.

Assist all spiritual fathers, that through your Grace they may steadily grow in holiness and in knowledge and understanding of your Truth. May they generously impart this knowledge to those who rely on them.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen. :crossrc:

Well said. Indeed, well said.

Ever consider not everything is always directly the enemy but reaping of what has been sowed ?

I find the idea of cardinals worshiping Satan to be very far-fetched at best (which is what Father Amorth seems to imply and which I will take such a claim with a grain of salt), but no doubt the devil will try his darndest to bring the Church down. He’ll never succeed though.

I suggest all concerned faithful to pray the St. Michael prayer every night for our bishops and priests to protect them from Satan’s temptations.

I see how everyone has read over and or ignored OCarms great point.

70,000 cases of possesion in 25 years does come out to be one case every 3 hours and 15 minutes day and night, no sleep.

That is not possible.

For me, that makes the rest of the article suspect.

I’m not sure where the figure of 70,000 cases comes from. I have a copy of Fr. Amorth’s first book in which he mentions a figure of 30,000 in nine years but he points out that only 93 were actually possessed. The total might refer to the number of cases brought to his attention.

Just as a point of of interest, the only other references I’ve found to Fr Amorth merely state that he is an exorcist in the diocese of Rome; but in the article he’s called ‘the Holy See’s chief exorcist’. Since that’s not quite the same thing, can anyone clarify his actual position?

Thanks in advance.
Mike,
I guess he is sometimes referred to as the “chief exorcist” because he is the only one in the archdiocese of Rome. He was appointed to the position by Cardinal Poletti in 1986.

I just received and am presently reading Father Amorth’s first book, and I am extremely pleased. This man is grounded in theology, and besides that, can write! His view of the world is infused with faith, it gives a taste of what it would be like to not be touched with liberalism, with modernism, but to actually believe in devils, and angels–the way the bible does, the way Christ did, the way the modern world most certainly does not. There is not a grain of superstitition, but instead a thorough infusion of scripture. He has not led with the sensational but with the teachings of the fathers of the Church and of the popes. I cannot wait to share this book with my family, for the good it will do their souls.

It’s not 70,000 cases. It’s 70,000 repetitions of exorcism prayers. That’s what Fr. Martin was referring to as well when he mentioned hundreds or thousands of exorcisms in an interview.

Hate to break the news to him, but every single person on this planet is in the same struggle between good and evil. This is why we are all called to arms in the spiritual war. It’s been this way since the fall of man and it’s not going away until our Lord comes again. The fact he’s attacking the church itself proves he, himself is losing his own personal battle, pray for him to have strength to see through it all.
Father Don Gabriele Amorth understands this I think, he has a better grasp on Spiritual Warfare , then many of us.

Father Don Gabriele Amorth is fullfilling a unique role, because he speaks to the devil in Latin and the devil apparently talks back to him in Italian, or something like that, in any case Father Gabriele says as much. Father Gabriele has got a friend in a Certain Arch Angel… No sweat.

The Devil can’t beat Amorth… So Amorth talks to the devil.

The theology here will blow your mind, its pretty interesting.
