Childlike question about Jesus

Sometimes I am embarrassed to ask questions that seem very unschooled and elementary for fear of the disbelief from others that such a question could ever be posed by an adult. I even imagine the looks of disbelief and headshaking! :blush:Here goes nothing…

I love Jesus very much and often am saddened at how often I fail him every day. Sometimes I wonder if He actually sees me. Can He look at me right now typing this for example. My mind says “ofcourse dummy, He’s God” but then why can’t it be obvious to me.
I also imagine He can see me (and by me I also mean each of us) in the future and the past with just as much clarity as the now. I mean Jesus, the Son who is also God. I’m adding this more for my own clarity. Do you agree?
My second question is a little strange… (I promise I’m not five years old)… but I wonder sometimes if Jesus can see all of us alive in this generation and those past and those in Heaven at the same time since “time” is subject to Him if He wanted to see all the souls He created.

I have no idea why these random thoughts occur but they are about God so it doesn’t bother me and thought it might be fun to share some of my childish questions on the Mystery of God but specifically of our Lord Jesus.
One last thing I read the other day that moved me (someone who always believes God is disappointed in her) is that if we love God, it’s because He loved us first.

If you are sure of Gods love for you it is a beautiful saying, if you are always doubtful you merit His beautiful and perfect love, the beauty of this truth may hit you like a ton of bricks and move you to tears.

I think that Jesus can see our past, our present and possible futures which depend on the decisions we make as we journey through life.

The Triune God I believe can see all generations.

We should never be afraid to ask childlike questions, we are children of God after all.

(Sometimes your question might be exactly what someone else would like to ask but thinks they will be seen as foolish.)

Its actually a good question

Remeber God is outside time and space therefore God is not like us. He is outside our universe so he does not have a past present and future because he is the Past the Present and the Future. I dont know if i did a good job explaining it so sorry if it confused you.
 
Not confusing at all thank you, so you believe Jesus or God the Father only has this ability? At the risk of sounding even more juvenile I always hope that Jesus can see me now and even in the past or future just because He has that power to.

Thank you for your edit, it made me laugh because sometimes I search for questions and I end up thinking “ofcourse this question is no where to be found it’s too ridiculous!”
Well if I’m dumb at least I love the Lord and want to learn more of Him and especially get closer.
 
Yes, God can see everyone for all eras at once. That would include Jesus using his divine faculties as God.

I have read in “Rosary Meditations from Mother Theresa of Calcutta” (not written by her, but endorsed by her) that during the Agony in the Garden, Jesus saw everyone for all time who would reject Him and the great sacrifice he was about to make for them. That is what caused His agony.

But then he was comforted by also seeing all the people who for all time would accept Him and even try to do reparation to make Him feel better. He saw every Adoration time that anyone would ever do, and every Holy Hour that every person would ever make.

Jesus can see you every minute of every day. You are on His radar, don’t even worry about it. Think of HIm as your friend who’s always there.

Do you believe you have a guardian angel? Some people find that a great help and we are told that we have one.
 
iIts nice that you mention I should think of Him as a friend. I will try. I always see Him as my Master, my Lord that has high expectations from me that I want to please. And I honestly see Him as hard on me, in a good way because it makes me want to please Him but the flip side is that I always feel I’m disappointing Him. I am learning more of His mercy and love, it may actually be prideful of me to think I’m so important that Hes disappointed in me, or any of us, when we make a mistake. Or not, maybe He does get disappointed, see where my confusion is because He’s not a granddaddy that wants to spoil us but a firm Master who wants us in Heaven and it’s a narrow path. I don’t “feel” like Jesus loves me but as a Catholic I know it has to be true, maybe this has something to do with how I view Him. Who knows.
To make me sound even more weird I don’t really have friends (moved away over the years) and as an adult I’m fine with that so maybe that’s why I never pictured Him as one because I don’t really know that kind of relationship but Him being my Father, my Lord I feel helps me see Him as someone who can help me manage this painful life.

Yes!
I frequently talk to my guardian angel and it was their feast day the other day and I bumbled to find a way to make it special and I did nothing. But I always remember him and sometimes ask him to walk with me. I even am so daring as to ask him for a little sign he’s with me.
Hasn’t worked yet, maybe that one time when I saw a monarch butterfly.
Every time I see a monarch butterfly it’s a sign that Jesus is with me. Ever since I was a little girl. That’s four decades …and sometimes years would go by without me seeing one. I have stood mesmerized by them where I’m sure people outside wondered what on earth is that lady staring at or following so entranced like!
I’m thankfully (gift of aging I think) getting less embarrassed by being myself outside. Before I wouldnt stop in the middle of a sidewalk if I saw one and even try to follow it because what would people think! I would control my elation. Now, who cares.😊

I often see things like a dragonfly suddenly whizz around or a butterfly or a beautiful sunset. Sometimes there’s a kind of cloud which has rainbow colours in it, usually small but not always.

I have a hen blackbird in my garden who I’ve formed a friendship with. It’s mostly based around food and sometimes I get the feeling she thinks I’m odd for throwing out good food…mealworms! I know, I feel a bit sorry for the mealworms but they are dried when I buy them.

These are all gifts I think and make life joyful.
 
Absolutely! Gods creation is such a gift, hard to see in the big city but there if you look hard enough. Always wanted to live in the country. I remind my children, and it’s nice to remember myself that our God is a Master Artist too… I bring to their minds the tropical birds and colorful fish, a beautiful landscape, the mountains etc…
He’s so wonderful our God.

This is actually how one of our greatest (and most beloved) saints, Francis of Assisi, often prayed.

There is nothing wrong with any of your questions, you are a beloved daughter of the Most High God. And the Heavenly Father loves you just as He loves Jesus.
Jesus said, “unless you acquire the heart of a child, you shall not enter the Kingdom of God.” Our world is too full of people who think they know it all. And in great need of those who are docile and gentle and demure and winsome before the LORD of Hosts.

Our beloved Little Flower, Therese of Lisieux, had a child-like manner before Jesus; and that’s what made her incredibly wise theologically. She is, after all, a Doctor of the Church. She is also the patron saint of the missions, yet she never left her cloister. Her “little way,” moves mountains and keeps the missionaries inspired in their ministry.

If you aren’t already good friends with the Little Flower, I would suggest reading about her. Remember, this isn’t some saint from centuries ago. This is a girl who only died in 1896 at 24 years old. There are photographs of her. She entered the Carmelite monastery at only 15 years of age. Sooooo, in just 9 years Therese changed the world in her little ways; with her child-like affection and love of Jesus.

I shall pray that a Rose comes your way as you meet (or learn more about) this child-like Doctor of the Church,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply. I love St. Therese and have tried her little way. It’s interesting just how powerful humility is, her little way worked for me with someone I was being kind to who was not very nice, but because it takes strength like hers to persevere and I’m too worldly I actually stopped using her little way because I didn’t have enough strength in me to be kind to someone who was mean to me like she did. So I stopped and became aloof instead. I’m so very fond of her but I always wonder about that experience I had practicing her way and wondered if it was a matter of me lacking humility (which I don’t doubt) or if I applied it wrong and I’m actually not supposed to be nice to people who are mean (but she was that way with the older mean nun and moreso because Jesus asks me to live my enemies and do good to them)because then I’m a pushover. That still confounds me a bit but she is the first saint that ever penetrated my life in a profound way. I often look for roses from my precious sister, thank you again.

Remember Martha, Jesus said to his apostles (and by extension to all of us), “And now, I no longer call you slaves, but friends…”
Something that always comforts me is the realization that as an eternal being, God has neither past or future because both of those dimensions are depended on a beginning and an end; something God does not possess. God lives in only one dimension of time, the eternal present moment, and that is the only place we can live with him, now. Stay close, pray, especially prayers of thanks for all he has given you, and promised you, and you’ll be fine. Don’t worry about past or future. Jesus Himself taught it is foolish as no one is promised the next minute. And as the old adage goes, “even God can’t change the past.”

Thank you, I do think about Jesus saying not to worry about tomorrow and I have a hard time with that naturally as someone who fears how to feed the family after job loss and shelter. Then I think of those with such beautiful faith that they don’t worry because they trust in God and yet they sometimes have to live in a shelter or have their child sick because of lack of food or die… With this in mind it sounds to me like Jesus is not saying don’t worry because He’ll provide these things but don’t worry because this world is temporary and a glorious future is promised. But then I recall He does in fact say don’t worry because your father in Heaven will give you these things if we seek first the Kingdom so I stay a little confused.

I think that your questions and comments were very moving, sincere, and beautiful, @MarthaSo.

We shouldn’t be afraid to ask. I don’t personally think that there is anything like a “stupid question.” How else do we learn, if we don’t ask? I often reflect on the beauty of God’s amazing creations, just by looking around me, especially when outdoors.

I’ll marvel at the little birds and the tiniest of insects, and at the clouds in the sky, and the beautiful trees and flowers. And, when the sky is clear at night, I’ll look up at the stars in the sky here where I live.

Such beautiful things to think about…

I also have a cat for a pet, and I think about the love and affection and playfulness that I receive from her, too.

So many beautiful blessings. I can’t help but be amazed by them, and I get “choked up,” too, so you’re not alone there when you feel emotional about God.
