Children asked to serve too often?

I will bow to your expertise. I guess I must have been an exception, but I sat next to one girl or another most of my high school time.

Some guys and some girls shared your thinking, and they seemed very satisfied with the decision! On the whole, though, I would say about 80% or more of the time self-chosen groups of four to six would be all-male or all-female. Not 100% of the time, no, but only one out of every 5-6 groups would be deliberately mixed. (I’d say a mixed group was a boyfriend-girlfriend couple and their friends only about half of the time, so I totally believe that you were one of the ones who just liked a mixed group.)
