This story honestly brought tears to my eyes today. I can’t believe this sort of nightmare thing happens? What are they thinking? Tiny minds so corrupted? How? Why?

A fifth child has been arrested by police in connection with the suspected attempted murder of a five-year-old boy who suffered neck injuries.
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed a total of five children, all aged 11 or 12, have been arrested over the matter.

The boy, from the Chickenley area, was injured in woodland behind the Earlsheaton Medical Centre.

He was treated in hospital and discharged on Wednesday. Police are searching for two to three more people.

Two girls, aged 12 and 11, and two boys, also aged 12 and 11, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. They are all in custody.

At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon Det Supt Andy Brennan of West Yorkshire Police said the five-year-old had “marks around his neck that could be consistent with ligature marks.”

“The victim is a five year old child who has suffered some serious injuries which is why those arrested last night were arrested for attempted murder,” he said.

“He’s got a number of bruises to his body. He has marks around his neck which could be consistent with ligature marks - there are marks which cause me concern.”

He said police were first contacted at 1800 BST on Tuesday by a member of the public, who had been approached by the victim, saying the boy had been seriously injured.

“Clearly, the boy was very distressed and he had obvious injuries,” said Mr Brennan.

FF, wish I had the answer. Just read today where a 9 year old girl fatally stabbed an 11 year old playmate in NYC over a ball they were playing with.

Blimey that’s awful!!

Five child suspects - two girls aged 12 and 11, and three boys, two aged 12 and one aged 11 - were arrested by detectives in West Yorkshire on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police said on Thursday morning that two of the boys had been eliminated from their inquiries and allowed to go home.
The boy’s father, Mark Hinchliffe, who lives apart from Anthony’s mother, told ITV News he had been to hospital to visit his son but was told he had been released.

Asked what kind of boy his son was, he said: “Very active lad, do you know what I mean? He loves playing about and that - he’s an active lad. He’s got loads of friends but something like this…you don’t know.”

A woman living close to the boy’s house saw his mother bringing him home on the night of the alleged attack.

Edna Gray, 79, said: "He was looking a bit dazed and in a bad way.

“She looked mad and she went to call the police and an ambulance arrived soon afterwards.”

Mrs Gray, who said the boy’s mother had four other children, described Anthony as a “lovely boy” who had never gone off on his own before.

“He’s a nice lad, he comes and talks to you and shows you his toys.”

‘Serious injuries’

At a news conference on Wednesday afternoon Det Supt Andy Brennan of West Yorkshire Police said Anthony had “marks around his neck that could be consistent with ligature marks”.

“The victim is a five-year-old child who has suffered some serious injuries, which is why those arrested last night were arrested for attempted murder,” he said.

“He’s got a number of bruises to his body. He has marks around his neck which could be consistent with ligature marks - there are marks which cause me concern.”

He said police were first contacted at 1800 BST on Tuesday by a member of the public, who had been approached by the victim.

“Clearly, the boy was very distressed and he had obvious injuries,” said Mr Brennan.

Items recovered

It is not clear if Anthony had been abducted or not. Police said they are not ruling anything out at this stage.

The boy is being interviewed by specially trained officers and police confirmed a number of items had been recovered from the scene.

None of the children being questioned is related to Anthony, police said.

One of the children was arrested on Tuesday night and three were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday.

The fifth child, a 12-year-old boy, was taken in for questioning during the day on Wednesday.

When children are contaminated and immersed in a world that is up to its eyeballs in violence, death,“choice” Sexual prowess, selfishness everywhere and just about every sin pretty much acceptable:crying: They can fall prey to it:crying:

Sheesh…my homicidal instincts didn’t surface until puberty. Kids can’t even be kids anymore.

7-year-old suspected of beating infant sister to death
By VICKIE CHACHERE, Associated Press writer

http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/06-05/06-02-05/tab.gif TAMPA, Fla. – A 7-year-old boy beat his baby half-sister to death with his fists, feet and a two-by-four because he was jealous of the attention the girl was receiving and because she would not stop crying, police said yesterday.
http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/06-05/06-02-05/tab.gif The State Attorney’s Office is deciding whether to file charges against the boy in an attack that rattled even veteran homicide detectives.
http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/06-05/06-02-05/tab.gif “The veteran detectives who worked on this case have never seen a case with someone as young as a 7-year-old show so much violence and so little remorse,” Tampa police spokeswoman Laura McElroy said.
http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/06-05/06-02-05/tab.gif The attack occurred May 22 in Tampa, where the boy had been visiting his father. The seven-month-old girl was dead on arrival at the hospital where her parents rushed her.
http://www.southcoasttoday.com/daily/06-05/06-02-05/tab.gif The boy confessed to killing his sister a week later when detectives confronted him with the evidence, McElroy said.

Does it occur to any of us that all of these children are in ‘non traditional’ families? Parents separated, single mothers, kids unsupervised by adults. What has happened is the dissolution of the nuclear family.

Virtutally all of the kids in ‘the system’ here are the product of a single woman who has some kind of relationship with a multitude of men. One woman I’m working with has three kids by one father and two by another. The three kids are not even LEGALLY his as he’s never taken ‘credit’ for them. Virtually all of the women in the homeless shelter I volunteered with were unmarried and had multiple kids by multiple men, none of whom were helping parent the kids. The few married people almost always did better and found permanent housing. The single moms continued to drag their kids along their chaotic lives. I think approximately 80% of the incarcerated population are the product of a one parent home and in general no father.

Acceptance of single parenthood has been the road to h**l.

What a terrible tragedy.

I guess the days of believing that all children are innocent and sweet are over. When we live by worldly standards and seek our satisfaction there, I’m afraid that this kind of thing is the result.

Through my work in the mental health field, I know of parents who allow their teenage sons to view video games that depict a man picking up a prostitute and then killing her. It’s no wonder then that the kids today see violence and sex as a thrill.

God help us.

Lisa, I must disagree with you on two points.
One: Just because these children are from what you call “non traditional” families does not mean that being from “non traditional” families CAUSED them to commit atrocities. I can assure you that children from loving, traditional homes have also killed, maimed, commited arson, theft, etc. Correlating with that is:
Two: The NUCLEAR family is a 20th century concept. Throughout history, humanity has been more or less “tribal” in nature. “Extended family”, as opposed to “nuclear family”, had been THE “norm” since the dawn of time. Mom, dad, and 2.3 children is a white suburban 20th century “norm” that never was.

Now, I emphatically do NOT disagree that the BEST possible family for parent and child(ren) is that of a loving mother and father and however many children they are blessed with, with “enough” money to live on, a stable living environment, an equable climate, liveable wage, etc. Would that all parents and children were in such a world.

However, let’s imagine six families in a little neighborhood in a little suburb in the midwest. Imagine that family A has a single mom of 2 kids, family B is an intact but poor refugee family from Asia, family C is a blended family of mom and her kid, dad and his kid, family D has a wealthy widowed dad bringing up a child, family E has a middle class mum and dad raising a GRANDCHILD, family F has an interracial couple of modest means with 4 children.

Does that mean that you will automatically assume that if a crime happens among the children that the perp is the child of family A or family D? Family A–gasp! single parent! Family D–less likely, because it’s a widowed, not a DIVORCED person, and a DAD instead of a MOM–but still, no “norm”. Or maybe it’s the POORER family of family B. Different culture, and poor at that. Of course, that family C would be the NEXT to accuse–two failed marriages and then this THIRD one, not too stable. . .and then family E, of course the child is still with family but those “OLD GRANDPARENTS” might not be able to DO THEIR JOB. . .and, uh oh, last but not least in the era of PC is the interracial couple. 4 kids, they aren’t abiding by the PC “population” .

It is SO tempting to be able to theorize that if violence happens, especially among children, “it must be because they’re DIFFERENT”. Different from what WE are, different from what we think people SHOULD be. Different from what WE grew up with. A sizeable majority of us grew up with, or somehow “osmolized” the idea of the “nuclear family is best”. . .and so we moan about single parents etc, conveniently forgetting that until the 20th century child mortality rates even in the “civilized” world were close to 50% or more, through the age of 6. Nearly half of all mothers throughout history died during one of their MANY pregnancies. Fathers lived short, poor lives. . .the average life expectancy of a man in the UNITED STATES in 1900 was–drum roll. . .47 years old. From the slaves of Egypt to the serfs of Europe, from the farmer to the sailor to the soldier, men lived lives of peril, and women as well. Few families had the “luxury” of raising their own children, who if they managed to survive to the age of 6 or 7 were usually conscripted by some type of owner, or by their own family, into backbreaking labor. Children were still working 10 hour days here in the U.S. in the beginning years of the 20th century, you know.

So by all means let us try to assure children of loving homes, whether those homes are bought or rented, whether the parents are single, married, black, white, red, or polkadot, rich or poor or in between. . .but please don’t go off blaming “the single parent” or “the decline of the nuclear family” for every societal ill suffered in June 2005. Single parents and non nuclear parents are, and were, FAR MORE the “norm” in history than that hallowed “mom, dad, apple pie and 2.3 children” that we have been conditioned to either bless or curse as “normal”. God bless.
