Homosexuality is not a learned behavior, but rather a consequence of biological factors. To say that children are “more likely to be Gay or Bisexual” when raised by homosexuals is scientifically incorrect. Definitive conclusions concerning sexual and gender identity will be found in the biological studies, not social. When reading this ‘summary of studies’ it is apparent that the children did not copy the parental homosexual behavior but rather felt comfortable to admit their sexual identity compared to heterosexual parents when majority of children wait until lat adolescence or early adulthood thus, preventing those numbers to be included in the study. Also, one may be able to use these statistics in a case to prove genetics are a basis for homosexual behavior.
Wrong! There is no “gay gene”!

This implies that there is no straight gene. So we are born tabula raza, meaning that solely the environment dictates our sexual orientation- homo- or heterosexual, meaning that both are blameless. Either way you go, you can’t blame homosexuality.

I disagree. Many SS couples are in loving relationships. Maybe it’s not love in the sense that "hey our love will make a baby’ but it’s still love…
Umm…you disagree that love can be expressed without attention to genitalia?

There is no gene for trespassing the speed limit, either.

Yet some contain themselves.

Whenever someone drives without any limitation on his choice of speed with regard to traffic, he is not blame- but ruthless.

With in prison communities there are rates of homosexuly activitie, is it becuase more homosexulas goe to prison? No, the men(women inwomen’s prison) learn instead of controling the urges, that they can satify the sexual urges with homosexual sex. Many of the men/women when they return to society return to heterosexual sexual activity. this is one of best examples where enviroment does show that one, homosexuality is highly determined by enviroment and two, those that choose homosexual sex, in many causes choose to stop acting in homosexual activity and and direct their urges to their proper gender role.
This is an interesting post and is something I have not connected before. If environment can make such a large increase in the amount of homosexual behavior, even temporarily, then we can never know if the current rate of homosexuality is an need to have more liberal laws regarding homoxuality, or if increased homosexuality is the direct result of more liberal laws.

OK, so why are you heterosexual?

I think maybe knowing this is why it is important to stand up for morality.

I would think that in reality the gay activist that lead the way fighting for gay rights assume this also and that is why it so important for them to throw gay behavoir in to our faces at every chance they get. The more they expose others, children and the young in particular, they not only think it will raise acceptence, but the actually increase of the behavoir among others that would not otherwise have particpate in such behavoir.

Of course this is too logical to consider, easy to ignore, notice how many have not even made a comment concerning my post before you.
  • I made a lot typ-os, though I rushed through the whole thing before heading out the door.
I meant to say high rates of homsexual activity among prison populations.

I am not ruling it out; quite the contrary. I am saying that genetic components and genetic tendencies are not isolates. I’m saying that anyone who studies both anthropology and the animal kingdom understands sexual behavior to be heavily embedded in a culture and shaped by an environment and the allowable possibilities in the environment.

Some of you must have missed the History Channel’s The History of Sex last night. (Aired locally in my region.) It may even surprise you to learn that extremes of sexual behavior (inclusive of now-illicit behavior) were even tolerated by the Roman Church during the Middle Ages. As I said earlier, ancient cultures such as the Mayans, Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, had very different sexual outlooks. And certainly when it comes to the first 2 of those, they considered themselves simultaneously highly religious cultures. For example, to believe in a gay gene as being causative of homosexual practice, one would have to believe that virtually all ancient Greek males were born gay or bisexual.

I interrupted this post for several minutes to search for an article I bookmarked several months ago, and am annoyed I can’t find now, but it was a scientific study on the supposedly ‘homosexual’ animal kingdom, which in fact appears mostly to arise from an absence or paucity of the opposite sex in instances where this does occur. Animals have environments and societies and social orders, too – just not always as well understood or as well studied as human societies.
This is just the first of many articles in my universities database of collected works

1899
Germany’s pioneering researcher Magnus Hirschfeld writes that being gay or lesbian is biologically determined.
1991
[Graphic omitted]A study of twins reveals that genes and biology are markers for homosexuality. Researchers find that 52% of identical twin brothers of gay men were also gay, compared with 22% of fraternal twins and just 11% of adoptive brothers.
1991
[Graphic omitted]Simon LeVay, after studying the brains of dead gay and straight men, publishes a paper in Science arguing that homosexuality is biologically based. He later expands his ideas in the 1993 book The Sexual Brain.
[Graphic omitted]1993
In a major study that spurs cultural battles, researchers say they have identified a gene pattern that determines male homosexuality, A National Cancer Institute geneticist suggests that a gay gene resides in the X chromosome. which men inherit from their mothers. (Article summary below)
[Graphic omitted]1995 & 2005
[Graphic omitted]A 1995 NIH study focuses on male fruit flies that began mating with each other after their body chemistry was changed, In June 2005, scientists in Vienna report that a genetically altered female fruit fly attempted to mate with another female fruit fly instead of a male, suggesting sexual attraction is genetic.
[Graphic omitted]1999
A University of Texas researcher finds that the tones produced by the inner ears of lesbians are weaker and not as numerous as those produced by straight women.
2000
Researchers find further evidence linking sexual orientation with birth order. Men with same-sex attraction seem more likely to be born later than straight brothers in families with multiple male children.
2003
[Graphic omitted]Psychologists measure eye-blink reactions after subjecting gay and straight men and women to loud noises. The reactions of gay and straight members of each gender are found to be significantly different and linked to an area of the brain that determines sexuality. They conclude that a person’s sexual orientation is determined before birth.
2004
[Graphic omitted]The same genes that make men gay may also make their female relatives more fertile. Researchers find that the moms, sisters, and maternal aunts of gay men often have significantly more children than the mean–and many of their offspring are gay or lesbian as well.
2005
[Graphic omitted]A genome researcher In Chicago says he has found a group of genes, not a single “gay gene,” that strongly affect whether a man is homosexual. The University of Illinois at Chicago and the NIH scientists report having looked at the genes of 456 men, each of whom had at least two gay brothers, from 146 families. The finding that a variety of genes are common to most gay men echoes other recent gene research.

I also found this little diti

Writing in the journal Science, researchers led by Dean Hamer of the National Cancer Institute conclude that a region on the X chromosome "contributes to homosexual orientation in males."
The NCI team recruited through ads 114 gay men and asked which of their relatives were gay, which straight. More brothers, maternal uncles and sons of maternal aunts were gay than expected, based on the incideuce of’ homosexuality in America. But paternal relatives were not more likely to be gay. This pattern of inheritance is typical of traits, such as hemophilia, carried on the X chromosome, which boys inherit only from their mothers. So Hamer analyzed the X chromosomes of 40 pairs of gay, nontwin brothers. Thirty-three of the pairs had five identical lengths of DNA on one tip.
The DNA snippet is long enough to contain hundreds of genes. Hamer’s team hasn’t found the gene that makes some men gay. That search could take years. But eventually, biologists hope, they will learn how such a gene works, in men as well as women. (The NCI biologists are looking for DNA markers in lesbians, too.) Does it produce a protein that sculpts part of the brain responsible for sexual desire? Make a biochemical involved in temperament or personality? Whatever the gene turns out to be, it is not the only cause of homosexuality. Seven of the 40 pairs of gay brothers did not have the characteristic DNA on their X chromosome. And Hamer has not tested the DNA of straights to see if any carry the snippet, so it’s too soon to conclude that it always causes homosexuality. More likely. inheritance and experience together shape sexual orientation.

Yap 😛 If I only think how expensive it is and how may others how make claims are condemned to read other people’s interpretation of the study but not the original study. This is a main source of error

It’s not that expensive. For ex Melbourne university students (I don’t know about outside) it is ~ $150 AUD annual fee and that just gives you all library access (including the gigantic database). But I’m sure whatever university you went to would also offer the same thing. Or if you work for a company or lab.
