I have an uncanny duck quack and I assure you I’m not a duck.

And to answer your last question, of course I can think of other groups that claim universality of truth. That’s my point.

well, it depends on what you’re pushing. if it’s part of the catholic agenda, being completely biased in the disinformation it represents, then no, i am not interested. if it is from a non-biased source, sure.
and my claim doesnt need fact checking, as it was part of a major scandal that basically made the catholic church seem to “clean house” so to speak.
and come now, all opinions are based on emotion, otherwise the world would be at peace, because opinions would be rooted in fact.

There’s a number of Protestant denominations who claim the same kind of authority (although it’s tricky because they locate the authority in the text but mediate it through the church without claiming the church as authority). Of course, there are sects in Judaism and Islam that claim authority in their own way. Were you not aware of this?

there’s mormons, islam, jews, hindis, bhuddists, etc. then there was the hale bop comet cult, jamestown, the branch dacidian amongst many other cults, all using religion as their tool. they all claim to know the penultimate truth to this universe, just like catholics.
one thing they all have wrong tho, is that truth can change.

if an institution i put my soul and faith into did monstrous things to children and covered it up, i would demand proof too, but i’m really just recollecting from about ten years ago when pedophile priests were being accused by the busload.

im sure it wasnt 100%, just as i know it wasnt 0%, but again, since well never actually know how many were ever accused of it, since not all molestation gets reported, and the church would shuffle around many who were accused.
how about you? do you know? or did you ever even care enough to ask why it was ever allowed to happen in the first place? or do you deny it ever happened?

The Church has already confessed its sins in this regard. Just like the Holocaust, the Church was directly and indirectly complicit in the Crusades.

When did the Church say She sinned? The last Pope apologized for the way some in the Church acted. That is no proof the Church sinned, nor is it proof all the crusades were unjust.
