I think it just shares the title with the other show. This one is based on the Archie comic Sabrina.

I used to love watching Sabrina, Salem the cut was cool. I remember things turning out badly whenever she used magic whereas today magic seems to be used to benefit people in films.

hadn’t heard of the show until yesterday when a friend told me she’s writing a blog post about the problems with it.
I look forward to a few bloggers’ takes on it, especially if they watched the whole thing. I watched enough to want to know how the story handles a few plot points, but felt I couldn’t watch more.

Oooh, I’ve been watching this programme. It makes me wince at times (things like this never used to have that effect on me before I came back) with the twist on Christian phrases/rituals.

I don’t think it really glamourises satanic worship at all. It’s shown to be deceptive, scary and lack freedom. Sabrina seems truly joyful when with her friends and doing wholesome activities. Might be different in a few episodes time.

Not much magic so far.

To me, it seems like Netflix just picked up an edgy teen’s fanfiction of the original.

The other tv show was too.

This new Netflix one is based on the cartoon, but edgier.

Josie and the Pussycats was also a part of Archie.

I remember getting Archie in the seventies. It came out weekly. Most of the comic was Archie, Reggie and the rest. Then their would be a Sabrina comic and/or a Josie comic.

I too like horror shows and I am enjoying this take on Sabrina.

I love the cinematography.

I like this Sabrina take too , now if the cat started “talking” I would be done !

There’s a Sabrina (96) marathon on cable as we speak. Every Halloween episode!

Like Riverdale, I’m avoiding this… reimagining as well. Not everything needs to be “edgy.”

The synopsis I’ve read sounds like it crosses the line for me, not just its use of satanism but its social commentary as well.

It comes across as preachy doesn’t it?

The same thing goes for Charmed 2.0.

Ah, I didn’t know that. I saw “Riverdale” in the OP and thought “Archie.” Then I corrected myself. But that was actually correct. 😆

Saw this article mentioned in a youtube video and thought of this thread. An actress on the show says they are using real spells from Wicca.

“When we’re doing certain spells, we’re calling on some really dark forces,” Tati shared. “In episode eight, we do this ritual in the woods and most of the spells that they use are real spells from the Wiccan faith. It’s so eery.”

They may use real Wiccan spells but this show does not really have anything to do with Wicca since Wiccans do not pledge allegiance to Satan.

So Wiccans are sitting around grumbling about how they got it all wrong or that this is cultural appropriation? 😆 I suppose that’s a familiar feeling.
