China destroys church building - 16 Catholic nuns beaten by 'government-hired gangste

The communist Chinese government bulldozed a Catholic Church building in Xi’an city, wounding 16 nuns. The U.S.-based China Aid Association, citing “reliable sources,” said about 30 uniformed young men rushed into the church with wooden sticks in their hands at about 6 p.m. Nov. 22.

Two hours later, a bulldozer started tearing down the place of worship.

News of the 16 nuns assaulted in Xian while defending a school from demolition has not been reported in any Chinese newspaper. The very detailed reports that had appeared on Chinese Catholic web-sites over past days have disappeared. The www.chinacatholic.org site, which had posted an in-depth report on the occurrences, was blacked-out for many hours yesterday. The site is back on-line today, but news on the assault against the nuns is no longer available.

Here is the complete list of injured nuns:

Sr Dong Jianian, (age 41), who is being treated at the Red Cross hospital where she will undergo spinal cord surgery tomorrow morning. Four nuns are being treated at the People’s Hospital of Xian; they are: Sr Cheng Jing ( 34) who risks going blind in one eye; Sr Yue Xiuying (31); Sr Zan Hongfang (34) (shown in the photo), who suffered a fracture to her left arm; Sr Wang Mozhao (32).

Another 12 nuns are in convalescence; they are: Sr Zhang Xueling ( 45); Sr Ren Aiying (45); Sr He Jingru (38); Sr Fan Xiujuan (32); Sr Jia Shuiyang ( 50); Sr Li Zhuanxia (33); Sr Liu Min ( 3)1; Sr Li Zhenzhu (45); Sr Li Jiaoye (32); Sr Wang Zhenai (42); Sr Yang Cenghui ( 50); Sr Zhao Shengyan (40).

The Chinese government is so incredibly evil…I feel for the people. I really do. God bless those poor souls who suffer there for being Christians. Makes you appreciate living in this country just a little more when you hear about incidents like these.

Wow, what a powerful army! Thirty armed “soldiers” can beat up sixteen defenseless nuns! May this be a wake-up call for all of us to offer up all of our daily sufferings to God, as no doubt these brave nuns are doing. Let’s especially pray for Sister Dong Jianian’s spinal cord surgery to be a tremendous success!

The ruthless communist regime acted in fear as the pharisees in Jesus`s days.We are a people of faith ,we should hope & pray the day Christianity can be openly practised in China,let not these problems trouble us too greatly.The Lord of the universe has his design we have to be patient praying & planning innovative ways to help the suffering church in China.

Although catholics should be concerned but we should not be disheartened, Communism finally fell in Russia in 1989 (Bolshevick Revolution in 1918) while China fell to the Communist in 1950.No Jewish leader 2000 years ago would have imagine one person with 12 aposltles & 70 disciples would be responsible for a faith invoving 2 billion people.

I have met many Chinese students who come to study ,many are searching for something to replace Communism to belive in.Many have subsequently converted,some would go back to China bringing the faith with them.American Catholics should try to show love & concern towards these young people who will one day replace the current leadership.

Christians leaving China is definitely not a good way to witness our faith,remenber Fr.Walter Czsick who witnessed the faith in a Russian concentration camp for 30 years.The Secular Business are looking to China (Walmart,KFC & Mcdonalds) while we children of the light are rushing out?

Mothers pray with your children for the conversion of China as you have did when you prayed for the conversion of Russia.Sometimes prayer will bring forth people of great courage to share the faith with the Chinese.

Unfortunately, they can’t leave. They would be leaving their families, homes, identity behind in the hopes of rebuilding some of that somewhere else. And there’s a tiny problem where their government won’t let them leave.

But what is worse, loosing your identity or your life? And if their government won’t let them leave, lets hope their faith is strong enough to where they will choose death to converting to athiestic communism.

However things don’t bode well living life as a Catholic or as a religious person of any stripe in that awful country. Its stories like this where I am proud to be an American, and reminds me to not take these freedoms we enjoy for granted.

The problem with communist chinese is that they take religious activities too seriously,if you try to visit the Archbishop in Beijing you will have to get past 2 guards who guard him 24 hrs. a day at the Church of the immaculate heart.

In many countries religion is taken too lightly people takes spiritual things too lightly ,there the problem of secularism,materialism & indiffrence may be a harder foe to batlle.

How do you talk to a person who does not care what you believe compared to trying to talk to a person who objects to your belief.I think talking to the latter is easier.
