And, if that’s not bad enough, a state-owned Chinese company has submitted a ridiculously high bid for a major US oil company, surpassing an already agreed upon takeover bid by some 4 billion dollars.

I read in Forbes on Tuesday that a Singapore company is looking at General Motors. Their plan would be to close all US manufacturing but retain the dealer network and market Chinese cars.

What will be left for the American worker? What would happen if we became involved in another conflict like WWII where we needed that manufacturing capacity and didn’t have it? Very, very scary.

Perhaps that is the plan, take away our ability to make things, and we no longer can fight.

As the article said, the appliances would still (how much longer?) be assembled in the U.S., but it’s dreadful that it will be a Chinese owned company.

My wife always calls Wal-Mart “The Chinese Outlet Store” when she tells me what places she’s going to when she shops.

Richardols,

I agree completely…it is very scary to me too.

Remember, to those given much, much will be expected. It is my belief that God is allowing this “taking away of America” as a form of chastisement for the way we have ignore His blessings (that may sound butty to some).

I think it’s less of God taking it away and more of our politicians giving it away by means of all those one-sided “free trade” agreements.

Then there’s the thing about the Air Force buying new tankers from Airbus instead of Boeing. We get into another conflict that the French don’t approve of and they refuse to sell us any spare parts. Right. Where did those guys park their brains?

Is that true about the tankers? That is the most irresponsible thing I have heard in some time!

Why don’t we just post a sign:

We are giving our nation away to the entity with the most bucks, all applicants please send your check to…

A defense subsidiary of Airbus announced yesterday that they would build an assembly plant in Mobile, Alabama, to build the planes. I don’t think there’s a signature on a contract yet but it seems to be headed in that direction.

geezerbob,

That is just flat out wrong! Here we are, the tax payers, being forced to pay for the bill and yet our money is not even going to one of our own companies for a military contract! Unbelievable.

This is liberalism, buying foreign companies and selling national companies. Please don´t be chauvinists

There’s no company in the United States that can build the number of tankers that the Air Force needs to replace its really aging fleet. Boeing is too heavily involved currently in the commercial passenger jet business to take on the new contracts.

Airbus would build an entire plant in the US, with everything manufactured in the US, and employing an all US workforce.

Sounds pretty good to me from our point of view.

With all the profits going to Airbus in France.

Question: If Boeing could not handle the contract, why were they trying so hard to get it? What would keep Boeing from building a new plant, if necessary? Why not keep the profits at home? Sometimes I think you just like to argue.
