Yes. One must always seek a little spice.Fancy a sweet potato myself. With butter and cinnamon. Takes a little time, though.
Right. You do realize that tomorrow will bring a fresh truck full of apples that are probably fresher and better than the moldy, rotten bitter ones on the table right?
Apples may not be a horrid analogy because there are so many different varieties, and we all seem to like different kinds.
I like crisp, tart apples - they are the best for baking in pies, IMO. (Wait, where is this metaphor headed now?)
Funny! Same for the pumpkins and the cranberries.Shout out to all my fellow sweet potatoes…you know who you are
We’re not bad or rotten, it’s just that we tend not to be in demand until autumn![]()
Food for thought.I think the OP is seeking in the wrong aisle…he is probably looking for Passion Fruit.

I knew this about apples… the apple harvest is in the fall, by the time summer comes, the apples are months old (unless of course they are imported from Chile)Also, apples keep a loooong time, as fruit goes.
“But did you know that the apples on the shelves of your supermarket might be nearly a year old? Here’s why — and why it doesn’t necessarily mean you should panic.”
"“A number of commodities, including apples, may be stored to extend their availability for marketing,” she said. “In controlled temperatures and low humidity, apples can be stored for months before being consumed.”
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s website, freshly picked apples left untreated will last a few weeks before they turn soft and rot, so they’re often stored under temperature-controlled conditions that allow them to last up to 10 months. Once they’re removed from storage, however, the clock starts ticking again."

I did NOT give you permission to display my likeness, Clare.

Didn’t anyone have some sympathy for me here?! Anyone?!
Well, there it is. The apple of my dreams may be in cold storage far away from me. Perhaps he went to McIntosh U out east and I went to Gala Tech. And, as an apple myself, I’d like to point out that we don’t really have the vantage point of checking out all the apples on the table especially since they are surrounded by their apple friends and maybe the apple of my dreams is dating a Granny Smith right now and the timing is just off. Also, apples keep a loooong time, as fruit goes.

I disagree. In college, all the apples are green and sour, because they aren’t ripe yet. While its true that the pool of apples gets smaller if you wait a few years, but you also eliminate all the apples that went rotten.I’ve thought about it a bit more and I think that the analogy could be tweaked a little.
I don’t think that it’s so much that all the good apples get taken as it is that the older you get, the harder it is to look for apples. After college, the pool of fruit that you have regular, easy access to shrinks significantly. When you start working full-time or more to launch your career, it becomes much harder to find the time to look for fruit, as delicious as it is. Often, this causes people to try to buy apples online. Sometimes that works out beautifully, and sometimes it’s a long, frustrating experience.
Anyway, you get the idea.
Let’s say “in college, nearly all the apples are green and sour.”I disagree. In college, all the apples are green and sour, because they aren’t ripe yet. While its true that the pool of apples gets smaller if you wait a few years, but you also eliminate all the apples that went rotten.
It’s not so much choosing the apple, but also the “apple” choosing you, so the analogy kind of falls apart.I disagree. In college, all the apples are green and sour, because they aren’t ripe yet.
