Unfortunately the map wouldn’t load for me.If you go back to the beginning of this thread, there is a map of the interior.
The tabernacle, cathedra, altar, and ambo are all in a line.

It looks like they’re having a problem. Maybe it will work tomorrow.Unfortunately the map wouldn’t load for me.
I guess it was a good thing the Schuller ministries were only $43 million in debt.ocregister.com/articles/cathedral-636281-campus-million.html
I understand needing a place, I really do. This just seems so excessive.![]()
In the 1970s, those building the cathedral in San Francisco ran into the same problem with public opinion. Then, one day in 1976, Dorothy Day, cofounder of the Catholic Worker movement, came to visit the cathedral. There was a recital in progress. She watched the people arriving and leaving. These included an Amish group, a man in a yarmulke and a couple of homeless people. This caused Day to comment, “Our cathedrals are centers of hospitality that our parishes often are not.” And she continued, “Why is it that we think we only need to give the poor the basics when the poor also need beauty?”ocregister.com/articles/cathedral-636281-campus-million.html

It’s traditional for cathedrals to have the tabernacle located in a side chapel. St. Peter’s Basilica is but one example.Oy… where do they plan to hide the tabernacle in this one I wonder?
For sure. While I think the seating seems a bit wampejawed it seems like it would do great with that.I hope they will have many lecture or speaker series as well as hold conferences there. With such a big campus they should be able to offer many ways for people to learn more about their faith. I see endless possibilities!
They have other buildings on the campus that could be used for that I hope without using the church I would hope. I am not sure. It sounds like there are other buildings anyway. For sure. While I think the seating seems a bit wampejawed it seems like it would do great with that.
