Please reference you usage of the whole world to particular passages. I am not a univeralist, nor do I believe the Catholic Chruch preaches universalism. It seems you are trying to disucss predestination and free will. These are important issues, but not as important as the subject of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Do you think non-believers will be in Heaven worshiping Jesus Christ?I think God’s “elect” is referring to those who choose God… He knows from the foundation of the earth who will be with Him in heaven… but not because we don’t have a choice, rather because He exists outside of time. He is not forcing our decisions or pulling our puppet strings… but rather, he can view all of our choices and their consequences outside of our idea of “time.” He knows, because He is there, past, present and future, calling to us all to “choose” Him
Now… You seem to be avoiding the statement in the Bible which says Christ died for the whole “WORLD.”
Regardless of how you or I define the “elect” you cannot get around this statement.
What does it mean to you that Christ died for the whole world?
