lol… Underdog thank you for what I think was a compliment, but I don’t want to be superwoman =P

I think we best share the message of Christ when we become more LITTLE. The smaller we become, and the more we share His love in the small things, the closer we grow to Christ and the more He is able to work through us!
You are right, it is only by the Spirit was are able to share. And God does the work through us. Now…when you are ready…

I am sorry, underdog… But I believe the Spirit should lead us into truth. I don’t believe bashing others for their faith is allowing the spirit to lead. While it is good to share who Christ is with people of other faith, we cannot do so and MUST not do so expecting to convert them.

I’m sorry underdog but I don’t think you even understand the very basics of answering a question.
That was a very astute answer. I challenged him/her to answer questions…but apparently you are correct…he/she doesn’t understand the basics of answering a question.

I think he/her is afraid of the truth…😛

Christ is your eternal mediator between God and man. Your are able to come boldly before the throne of grace through Jesus Christ. Therefore, through the Son we have the Father.
I stick by my guns. If Jesus goes to God the Father in our behalf (mdiator between us and God) that makes God everything. But then again Jesus is God as the Holy Spirit is God. So I guess because God is everything and Jesus is God you are theorticay correct (read John 1:1-5). I know this is not what you mean.

I understand that the church is catholic or universal. However, this forum site does not represent the catholic body of Christ. I believe all who are here at this Roman Catholic forum site are here because of divine providence.
Yes, it does. The Practicing Catholic is more United to Christ, for the simple reason that he/she follows the True Teaching of Jesus Christ THROUGH HIS CHURCH! Not that we have earned it, it is through the Grace of the Holy Spirit that it was given us, this Grace underdog you don’t have there fore you protest for the Gates of Hell will not prevail against it. Those who protest against the Church is protesting against Jesus Christ Himself.

Underdog, go on do all you can protest, protest, protest, but you will never prevail so my sugestion to you if you can’t beat it, joint it ask Jesus to give you this Grace to join the Church.

Providence has you here!

I am not a protester of your Roman Catholic Church. There are no degrees of being united to Christ. You are either united to Jesus Christ, or you are not. That is a black and white spiritual reality with no gray areas. Only God knows who He has united to Jesus Christ. If you think tthere are degrees of being united to Jesus Christ, you have opened the door of self-righteousness, sinful pride, and boasting before God in what HE HAS DONE in Jesus Christ. As Christians,we proclaim the goodness of God to the world in what HE HAS Done in the person and work of Jesus Christ. We exalt Him and praise Him, and point people to Him, and not our churches that we worship at when we meet with other believers. In the Bible, does the Apostles and other believers praise and worship God, or His church? Where does your affections lie, in your church or God? That is a question all Christians need to answer including Protestants, Orthodox, Anglicans, and Catholics.

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life…nobody comes to the Father but through the living person of Jesus Christ.

I am not a protester of your Roman Catholic Church.
maybe not totally but if you are not Catholic, you are protesting the Catholic Church (or at least the fact that the Catholic Church is the one Christ instituted)…
There are no degrees of being united to Christ. You are either united to Jesus Christ, or you are not.
NOT True… And i wouldn’t have said that several years ago. While it is true that you are either committed to Christ or not… one can be closer or further away from complete union with Him. When i am in His presence (which is in the Church 24/7), i am united with Him almost completely (only death unites us absolutely completely)… ***especially whne i am at the Exposed Sacrament…***Whne i pray the rosary outside the Church, i am united to him, but i am also surrounded by “the world” and so… not as close as while @ Churhc…
That is a black and white spiritual reality with no gray areas.
actually, i feel your position fits that description…

Only a non-Catholic who has not spent time with Jesus at the Blessed Sacrament would say this…
As Christians,we proclaim the goodness of God to the world in what HE HAS Done in the person and work of Jesus Christ. We exalt Him and praise Him, and point people to Him, and not our churches that we worship at when we meet with other believers.
The Church IS Jesus… but then, i don’t bleieve you will understand that completely since you are not Catholic… You don’t belong to Christ’s true Church so of course, you are not going to see things that way…
does the Apostles and other believers praise and worship God, or His church? Where does your affections lie, in your church or God?
Catholics (good ones) don’t make much of a distinction, except to say that the Church is made of sinners and Christ is sin-less… but Christ united himself to sinners… (through the Church)…

Why did Jesus change Simon’s name to Rock?

Why did Jesus give Simon the keys to the Kingdom?

Why did Jesus claim to be founding his Church on the Rock if we don’t need a Church?
not everything Jesus did had any significance… ???

😃

Christ is everything to a Christian. No Catholic that I know of would disagree with you on that point. The Church contains the true deposit of faith given to us by Jesus Christ and we are united to form a visible body of Christ on earth. The Church is literally His Body and those who make up that Body are called to continue Christ’s ministry here on earth.

I think that Catholics and non-Catholic Christians agree on more things than they disagree about. It is just that we use different language and reference points. Sometimes we are talking about the same thing, but because our language sounds so different we just talk past each other. We do not recognize the sameness of belief.

To me, as a Catholic, to love the Church is to love Christ.

Chirst is everything.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

I didn’t know the Roman Catholic Chruch considered Orthodox believers to be Protestants. Thanks for the education. There is more unity with the Orthodox Church than what was told to me.

Now why would Jesus build His Church on the person and work of the Apostle Peter. Jesus being God knew that Peter would deny Him three times, and the Apostle Paul was going to rebuke Peter publically for acting against the truth of the gospel. These are not minor sins or issues, but they have to do with the centrailty of the Christian Faith built on Jesus as being the Christ, just like Petere professed.

We don’t know the mind of God. Is it not our place to wonder why or to question God’s motives. Why can’t you take the Scriptures at face value? “You are Peter, and up this rock will I build my Church” Or do you just take the passages that fit what you decide is correct, and pretend other Scriptures either don’t exist or are irrelevant.

This is a great mystery...That God chooses ANY of us for His great plan.. and yet, despite our limited capabilities, and our tendency towards sin He still loves us and allows us to be instruments for His glory!

If Jesus desired perfect people to lead his Church, why would he choose the twelve in the first place? One denied him, one betrayed him and led to his death, and the rest fled rather than risk their lives being seen with Jesus. Surely he could have found better people than that.

Yet he chose them. He formed a Church for sinners. Why choose Peter to lead it? Because Peter had denied him, and repented. Peter went from one end of the spectrum to the other, so he more than anyone else knew just what the Church was all about. He had experienced its mission first-hand.

You have the Orthodox Church, all Protestant Churches, Anglican Churches, Church of Christ, that all reject the Roman Catholic interpertation of Matthew 16. Therefore, it is only Roman Catholics who stand alone in your view of the rock. If you do a search in the Scriptures, the rock is a reference to God all throughout the Holy Bible.

If keep your eye on the Roman Catholic Peter, will you miss the biblical Jesus Christ? We are told to keep our eye on Jesus and not Peter.

Does rejecting Christ make His life, death, and ressurection any less true?

Does rejecting the authority He gave His priesthood make it any less true?

then why oh why did Christ change Simon’s name to Peter?to mock him as you interpit the scripture to mean?
