Of course, the church is the bride of Christ,or the body of Christ. It is not a particular denomination or religious organization such as the Roman Catholic, Baptist, Presbyterian, Anglican, Methodist denominations. Do you think the Bible writes specifically about the Roman Catholic Church? If, so please help me find it. We need the lviing Christ in our lives and not necessarily a religious organization. We we believe in Christ, we become part of the living church, or the body of Christ. Do you agree?
You are too quick to jump ahead of yourself. We must first establish if Jesus founded a Church. If he did, does that Church have Authority. If so, what authority would that CHurch have? What protections would Jesus give it?

Now, just to speed this up, he did found a Church, he gave it all the authority that he had, including the ability to forgive sins and pronounce dogma, and he promised that the Gates of Hell would not prevail against it. The Church is both invisible (Community of Believers) and visible (The City set on a hill).

Now, since we can see that he founded a Church, we must ask ourselves how many denominations did he create? the answer is NONE. Jesus founded one and only one Chuch. Any divisions in it today are not mentioned in the Bible because they did not exist then. In fact, they are all the work of men or of the devil. So, does that original Church exist? Yes. Which one is it? Simple, just trace any church back until you get to its first apperance in history. You can only follow two back: Eastern Orthodox and Catholicism. One of them must be correct. Actually, it is both.

Now, back to what you asked a couple of posts ago. What did Jesus accomplish? Salvation for all who beleive in him. However, you would be intellecutally dishonest and Scriptually foolish to say that he did not intend on founding a Church, because it is clear that he did just that. That same Church gave us Scriptures, defined the Trinity, lifted the Mosaic Laws for Gentile Converts, and instituted the Sunday worship.

Why did Jesus start a CHurch? Well, God had created a religious system for the Jews in the Old Covenant. Why would the new one be different? Also, he knew that we need the stucture that faith creates in our lives. Finally, he did it because he wanted us to remain ONE as he and the Father are one. One is spirit, one in doctrine, one in faith.

I see the main problem with the Catholic church is they are reliant on the Catholic church and not Jesus Christ, the true head of the church.

As an ex-catholic, I thought the church was right… but I didn’t know any different. It wasn’t until the holy spirit grabbed hold of me and showed me His truth did I realise that I wasn’t right with God just because I’d been baptised as a baby and participated in the sacraments. My heart still wasn’t right before God and I was still dead in my sins… why? Because I’d never realised my hopelessness and sinfulness and my absolute lack of ability to save myself by doing good works and living a good life!

When you are born again of the spirit of God, Christ is IN you! And the truth shall set you free.

(sermon over)

I’m not sure if I understand what you wrote?
Actually, what you fail to understand is the Bible itself. Being obtuse and obfuscatory will not garner you much…
The word Catholic Church or the Roman Catholic Church is not mentioned in the Bible. There are many different churches mentioned in the Bible, but not the Roman Catholic Church. Do you love Jesus Christ more than anything else?
I see in your profile that you declare yourself to be a “Christian”… please find the specific word “CHRISTIAN” in the Bible…then ask yourself…if you are now venturing down the path that a Christian is supposed to follow…

Here’s a little deal… you answer questions “without questions”, and I’ll play your little game with you… OK?

Do you understand the OP? You are preaching the Catholic Religion and not Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I think you failed to answer my question about what you believe Jesus Christ actually accomplish by His life and death 2,000 years ago. We know that Matthew tells us that Jesus will save his people from their sins. Did He accompish this? Notice that we are told that Jesus will save His people from their sins. Matthew did not tell us that the Roman Catholic Church will save Jesus’ people from their sins. Do you see the problem?

I was hoping to discuss things without clicking on links. What’s BK theology? I believe in Christ-centered theology.
“B-K theology” is, simply put… Burger King theology…have it your way, hold the pickles, hold the lettuce, special orders don’t upset us, everybody can interpret the bible…anyone can open a church and spout his or her particular “version” of the truth, ala Jim Jones, and all the rest.

And you think that the Catholic Church is not “Christ centered”???

If so, you are sadly misinformed.

Acts 11:26

and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.

Well you’re batting about 50%…want to give it another shot?

What the problem is, is this: You completely misunderstand Matthew 16… care to give another go at it?

And what point would that be: That you are not a Christian at all, and that you openly and willfully bear false witness by posting falsehoods? If so, then yes, I made the point quite clearly.
Who is Christ in your life?

I believe Jesus Christ is everything for the Christian. All of the unsearchable riches are found in Christ. All of the promises are yes in Christ. I am confused why the Catholic Church is so important to Catholics when Christ is everything to the Christian. Do you want to help me understand why the Catholic Church is so important to Catholics when our life is hidden in Christ?

I put the original question there so that maybe you can understand where I am coming from. To know Christ is to know his CHurch. To know his Church is to fully know Christ. One cannot do one without the other.

The only problem that is here in this thread is that you have bought into several falsehoods. One is that Catholics do not know who Jesus is. We know quite well, thank you. He is the Son of God who died and rose again that whoever should beleive in him might have eternal life. Another one that you have bought into is that Jesus did not found a Church. This is as unscriptural as Islam.

The Church CAN ONLY preach Christ crucified because that is the Gospel. You want to know why CAtholics rely on the Church and not on a relationship with Jesus. What you are not asking is why we do not have the same relationship as you. It is because we hold to the faith handed to us by Apostles.

Who founded your church and what was the year it was founded?

Who is Christ in your life?
better question who has shown you the face of Christ?
even better question for you hisalone, underdog, and redemmed.who is the head of your respective churches?"for many will come saying i am he"each and every one of you three are taught by who?

Who is Christ in your life?
Jesus Christ, who else?? Dare I say: “Oh duh?” You know that was a rather “foolish” question on your part.

And as a “sidenote”…its rather evident that you are hardly what you would like others to believe about you… Am I possibly correct that by stating you are “Hisalone” that you belong to Satan? You certainly don’t conduct yourself like a follower of Christ. Not judging you…just “expressing” my opinion… 😃

Jesus Christ is the eternal God, 2nd person of the godhead. He has no beginning or end. We know that Jesus Christ became flesh, sent by the Father to save His people from their sins. Therefore, God the Son had a mission to accomplish when He entered our world as God in the flesh. It seems you have made the Catholic Church as the savior of the world, and not God the Son. What do you think Jesus Christ actually achieved and accomplished in His life and death 2,000 years ago?
Although Catholics believe the bible is the word of God, we recognize that Jesus didn’t come to write a book, he came to start a Church.

Others recorded his wishes:

Matthew 18

17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

Luke 10
16"He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me."

John 20
21Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

1 Timothy 3
15if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.

2 Thes 2
15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

Matthew 16

17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Can you demonstrate a knowledge and experieince of Christ outside the parameters that the Roman Catholic Church has taught you?

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
Do you have a relationship with the risen one? Is He with you now ? Do you often talk to Him? Does He talk to you? If so what does He say?

If you don’t mind me jumping in, or even if you do…🙂

I was born again in a Baptist Church, attended a charismatic nondenominational church for several years, and ended up in a small town Methodist Church.(a bible believing country Church that was neither concerned or really even aware of what the national UMC was doing)

I now believe that Jesus is most alive within the Catholic Church.

Jesus came to build a Church to lead us to salvation, and that’s what he did.

It is here for you today. Don’t reject it without prayer and thorough investigation.

You could not be more wrong.
Jesus came to

to bring salvation
to release the captives
to bring sight to the spiritually blind
to bring hearing to the spiritually deaf
to redeem or to purchase all peoples from the debt of sin
fullfill prophesy

You could not be more wrong.
Jesus came to

to bring salvation

to bring hearing to the spiritually deaf
to reddeem or to purchase all peoples from the debt of sin
fullfill prophesy
Then why did he talk about his Church? Why did he talk about “building his Church?” Or taking someone before his Church? Or his Church being like a city on a hill?

Did you leave it out or did Jesus overstep his authority?

Salvation through his Church.

You are speaking of the role of the Church, which is built by Jesus to help lead us to truth and salvation.

John 20

Who did Jesus send?

Matthew 16

17Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock** I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. **19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

What church could this be?

This is just too funny to leave alone…
HisAlone… Catholics experience Christ…body, blood, soul and divinity each and every time we go to mass… I don’t know about you but I was taught to strive to make my entire life a prayer to our Lord…

Just because you have been told that Catholics are wrong, you don’t have the sense to check it out all by your lonesome… you have to depend on the opinion of your pastor? Go to a mass… open your heart, receive the Word, feel the presence of God dwelling among his people… you will have the Christ experience of your life buddy! And guess what… there are masses everyday (except Good Friday) so we can get this feeling every day!
