Why is Christ everything to the Christian?
Question for you underdog:

Is there more than one Truth of Jesus?

If two followers of Christ disagree about a central issue of faith, how do you decide who holds the truth?

When one Christians says infant baptism is efficacious and another says that it is meaningless, we have reached a potentially dangerous conflict.

Who decides?

, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him - Col 2
do you underdog beleive these words written here?of coarse you do!
so is baptsim a symbol or does it actuaully do the things mentioned above?

Why is Christ everything to the Christian? Here is a good verse to reflect upon today regarding Jesus Christ. What a mighty God the we have who sent His only Son into our sin curse world to suffer and die on our behalf. God demonstrated His love for us, that while we were His enemies, Christ died for us (Christians).
I believe that Christ died for everyone, not just Christians…who didn’t even exist at the time, but were a sect of Judaism. He died for **everyone **who has ever lived and will ever live. His desire is that all follow him. Until His death the gates of heaven were closed. His death opened the opportunity for heaven for all. And how do we get there? Why through Jesus Christ, of course, who leads us to God the Father!
See to it that no one takes you captive by **philosophy **and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and **not according **to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.
That’s why I’m Catholic, because I want to follow what Christ said and taught. Not some man made philosophy or traditions that some one thought up 500 years, 200 years, 50 years or 1 year ago. When I do research, I always go back to the original source not just what someone tells me. ( And yes, even if a priest tells me something, I check it out…Catholicism is faith & reason together)

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
This is true, and no-one tried to “condemn” you. I simply asked you a question or two… I guess next you’ll quote that little ditty about how everyone will hate you because you follow Christ… No-one here hates you… its not a part of our way or life. If there is any hate present it is in you as evidenced by you immature and pedantic efforts to convert others to your beliefs.
Do you have a relationship with the risen one?
For me to properly answer that question… you would have to actually define “relationship”.
Is He with you now ?
He is always with me. 🙂
Do you often talk to Him?
Yes, quite often.
Does He talk to you?
Do you mean; “Do I hear a voice speaking to me”? No, I don’t hear voices. I’m not a schizophrenic.
If so what does He say?
What I do understand that comes to my mind during and after my prayers…is somewhat personal not to be revealed… and other than that…I am often reminded that one must be very careful and watch constantly to protect one’s self against “false teachers” and those who bear false witness.

Your lack of knowledge regarding Catholics borders on the absurdly foolish… That you might actually think that the “only time” a Catholic prays, or thinks about God is at Mass… is sad, and yet humorous at the same time. It shows that you have swallowed the regurgitated false witnessing of another ill educated individual. The sum total of your knowledge of Catholicism, or what you seem to perceive as knowledge is nothing whatsoever… or you just want to play the fool and act ignorant and ask the same illegitimate questions redundantly.

I am truly happy I am not you…😃

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
You’re out of context in the use of that passage… Paul was speaking to the Colossians…telling them: “He warns them against the impostures of the philosophers and the Jewish teachers, that would withdraw them from Christ.” drbo.org/chapter/58002.htm

One would hope that if you are as much as you portray yourself to be…you would be amply aware that taking scriptures out of context and trying to disabuse the actual message is “disingenuous” at best.

Rob, he forgot that catholics also feel close to Jesus when Notre Dame plays. Its not just at Mass.
He really does not get it.

(warning: satire in use)

So you do not have a relationship outside of mass?
Actually…what the problem is…is that you either have a third rate command of the English language…or you don’t bother to read what others say. Your response to the prior poster made it clear that you are entirely in the wrong.
I know Christs presnce everyday, all day and so can you.
As already explained…we do…quite and most probably to a greater degree than you could possibly imagine.😃

It is your false belief that you have the fullness of faith and are a member of Christs true church that attempts to candemn those that are not. It is a false condemnation that you and those CAtholics that would direct at anyone who does not believe as yourself. Rather than point solds to Christ you attempt to bring condemnation for thaose that are not Catholic.

For me to properly answer that question… you would have to actually define “relationship”.

Use whatever definition Websters uses.

He is always with me. 🙂

Yes, quite often.

Good

Do you mean; “Do I hear a voice speaking to me”? No, I don’t hear voices. I’m not a schizophrenic.

Im sure glad that the Father of my faith Abraham didnt see it the same way. Did not Jesus say my sheep hear my voice?

What I do understand that comes to my mind during and after my prayers…is somewhat personal not to be revealed… and other than that…I am often reminded that one must be very careful and watch constantly to protect one’s self against “false teachers” and those who bear false witness.

The Holy Ghost will bring to mind thoughts that are personal and is a communication during prayer.

**There are many Godly men and women that God has set aside for Himself as a remnant.
Catholics are like many folks from other faiths some oare fervent and some cold to their faith.
I have studied under Catholic priests in college level theology courses about Catholism. How many Protestant ministers have you studied under?

I have been to mass very many times. How many Protestant services have you attended?

Becasue I disaggree with your faith does not mean I dont understand it/ In many ways I know it better than you do because you will not look at the darkness that is there…**
I am truly happy I am not you…😃

And I alwys thought it was when BYU played.😃

I am glad you are so enlightened to know so much about Catholicism!!! It must be great to be you!! I mean you have all the answers to EVERYTHING!!

It is one thing to make a claim, and quite another to have evidence. You have none. We have the scriptures. Either give us something th prove we are wrong, or accept we are right.

Why don’t you keep going a few verses to get an idea of what happens to the church?
Actually it would be more beneficial if you would not try to take things out of context.
(1Timothy 4:1-3)
1 “Now the Spirit speaketh explessly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats. which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.”

Verse 3 is/was done by the RCC, so Paul’s prophetic warning could be said to apply to it; at least against its claim of always being the pillar of truth.
Hoooooooooo Haaaaaaa… 😃 😃 That last statement was a doozie!!! Shazaaaaam!!

Do you have the “slightest notion” just how silly that statement makes you sound? Ask yourself this question: If verse 3 was done by the RCC, then why hasn’t it been undone the KJV and every other bible on the planet was printed outside the RCC??? I mean afterall, y’all deleted the Apocryphal Books…so who’d miss one little “verse”?

Tell me, where you do get this stuff…

And I alwys thought it was when BYU played.😃
That’s when catholics turn off the TV and go to bingo.
(satire in use)

Really Hisalone, Catholics are not bad. They may not always appear to be friendly, but they are pretty cool.

The “U” stands for my vital union with Jesus Christ. Where does you confidence come from?

If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? - Romans 8

So far all you have done is expressed your opinion, which is invalid as you you have no knowledge of me or my actual thoughts. I condemn no-one, and I don’t see other Catholics condemning anyone. The Catholic Church condemns no-one either. So, in a nutshell… You are very wrong on all points!
Use whatever definition Websters uses.
I would much rather hear or rather see YOUR definition.

He is always with me.

Yes, quite often.
Yes, isn’t it though!!
Im sure glad that the Father of my faith Abraham didnt see it the same way. Did not Jesus say my sheep hear my voice?
So, now you are equating yourself to Abraham, and you hear voices talking to you? That’s a serious pair of questions, by the way.
The Holy Ghost will bring to mind thoughts that are personal and is a communication during prayer.
That is something we Catholics are quite aware of.
There are many Godly men and women that God has set aside for Himself as a remnant.
And your point would be?
Catholics are like many folks from other faiths some oare fervent and some cold to their faith.
Again, your point?
I have studied under Catholic priests in college level theology courses about Catholism.
Really? That seems extremely hard to believe. The statement reeks of falsehood given your dire lack of knowledge about Catholics and Catholicism.
How many Protestant ministers have you studied under?
Absolutely NONE!! I can’t think of a single reason to learn from heretical teachers. No valid reason whatsoever.
I have been to mass very many times. How many Protestant services have you attended?
I’ve been to a couple of weddings…
Becasue I disaggree with your faith does not mean I dont understand it/
I don’t think you “disagree with it”…I think you were trained to hate it by hatemongers and bigots. I am positive that you do not understand it…you make that blatantly clear in your comments.
In many ways I know it better than you do because you will not look at the darkness that is there…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! No, you don’t. You have been sadly misled by harridans and shills… There is no “darkness” in the Catholic Church… The darkness is in your soul. If you still have one.

Again, I can only say:
**I am truly happy I am not you…😃 **

I am a hero who never fails.
I cannot be bothered with such details.
Hate to tell you “sport”… you may be a legend in your own mind, but the impression you’re painting of yourself is far from heroic. You might want to pay some attention to the details, as they can become “tripping stones”…
