Here’s a quiz to determine your denomination. selectsmart.com/FREE/select.php?client=christiandenom

I took the quiz. I don’t think it’s entirely accurate. I got these results.
#1 Eastern Orthodox Church

#2 Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod

#3 Roman Catholic Church

#4 Evangelical Lutheran Church

#5 Assemblies of God

#6 Church of Christ

#7 Episcopal/Anglican Church

#8 Methodist/Wesleyan Church

#9 Free Will Baptist

#10 International Church of Christ

#11 Mormonism

#12 Seventh-Day Adventist

#13 United Pentecostal Church

#14 Mennonite Brethren

#15 Presbyterian Church in America/Orthodox Presbyterian Church

#16 Reformed Churches

#17 Southern Baptist

#18 Orthodox Quakerism

#19 Presbyterian Church USA

#20 Reformed Baptist

#21 Jehovah’s Witness

#22 Liberal Quakerism

#23 Unitarian Universalism

#24 Unity Church

I have no idea how the quiz said I was more Lutheran than Catholic when I answered that scripture is not the sole rule of faith and there is a person/persons with infallible teaching authority. I would think that Orthodox and Catholic should be closer than Orthodox and Lutheran. BTW, I’m not Orthodox, I’m Catholic.
For me, Roman Catholic came out as no. 1, as indeed it should have. however, I’m not sure what my other rankings indicate.

But I can see why you’re confused with your results! Something’s amiss.

Hrmph. Eastern Orthodox.
I got that too. Lutheran was the second place for me. Catholic was third place. How could Lutheran be closer to Orthodox than Catholic? The strange thing is that I was determined to be Orthodox even though I answered that infants should not be given Communion.

100% Catholic. Second time I’ve taken a test like this and both times
came back 100% Roman Catholic.

I got your results also.

I went back and selectively changed things. You can get Roman Catholic above Lutheran if you say that one must be a member of a specific church or organization, which is not the teaching of the Catholic church. If however you say that you believe that infants can recieve communion, which of course they can but don’t in the Latin Tradition, it says you are Eastern Orthodox.

I went back again, and changed things, again. You can change many things but it seemed to me that in order to get Roman Catholic first, you had to say that you have to belong a specific church or organization to be saved.

I answered that infants should not receive Communion and still got Orthodox! I also did answer that one does not need to be a member of a specific church or organization, since that is the true Catholic teaching. I thought my answer on the infant Communion question would automatically eliminate Orthodox. I also answered that there is a person/persons who teach infallibly and scripture is not the sole rule of faith, which I thought would eliminate Lutheran.

That is wierd. Screwy test!

The thing that makes me mad is that there are people who are going to take it and say, “see, I told you Catholics think that you need to belong to the Catholic Church to be saved.”

🙂 1. Roman Catholic
2. Eastern Orthodox
Mormonism way down on the list

That’s actually very interesting…I don’t know why Methodist/Wesleyan went so far down, unless it is my (😛 world-famous) “high-church” tendencies.
The most disturbing thing for me, frankly, is seeing Liberal Quaker fall down into the pits with Mormons, JWs, et al…I mean, I’m certainly not a Quaker…(but most tests have that:confused: way high for me), but it’s Christian. How did it end up that far down???
Those other guys in the bottom few are, IMO, at the best, non-Christian religions, and at the worst…   …('Nuff said)…

  1. I’ve taken other quizzes like this and usually had a high score for Orthodox and Catholic (usually tied), Methodist and Quaker as well. I never had a high score for Lutheran before. I’m still confused as to how I could be more Lutheran than Catholic if Orthodox is my top score. I also am not aware of anybody besides the Orthodox on that list that gives Communion to infants; and even though I answered that infants should not be given Communion, I still got Orthodox as my top answer.

Interesting quizz, I dont know if it all means something or not 🤷

1 Assemblies of God - dont know

2 Free Will Baptist - not bad, no OSAS

3 Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod - * hmmm*

4 Methodist/Wesleyan Church - hmmm

5 Seventh-Day Adventist - could not go here

6 Church of Christ - dont know

7 Evangelical Lutheran Church - * interesting*

8 Mennonite Brethren - * daugher-in-law was Mennonite, now Baptist*

9 Southern Baptist - attended Baptist

10 Eastern Orthodox Church - hmmmm
So if a person say, took the top five does anyone think it tells us anything about ourselves or is it just not accurate enough to make a comment???

Although I was interested to see Free Will which Ive never heard of do not subscribe to OSAS.

I never heard of Free Will Baptist either. AFAIK, there are no Free Will Baptist churches where I live. Most are Independent Baptist or Southern Baptist.

At least it worked for you! 😃
I answered that one does have to be a member of church to me meaning Catholic Church. 🙂
Otherwise same as you
Why would an infant need communion? dumb question on the quiz.

One of my great-grandfathers was a Free Will Baptist pastor. They do not believe in OSAS, in fact, they do not believe in any of the 5 points of Calvinism.
They are an evangelical (not fundamentalist) group. They baptize upon a profession of faith, by total immersion. Other than that, they are pretty much different from other Baptists.
(I am not exactly an expert; my grandfather, much less my great grandfather, both died befor e I was born!)

Well, the early Church did not seem to think it was dumb.

newadvent.org/cathen/04170b.htm

“It is now well established that in the early days of Christianity it was not uncommon for infants to receive Communion immediately after they were baptized. Among others St. Cyprian (Lib. de Lapsis, c. xxv) makes reference to the practice. In the East the custom was pretty universal, and even to this day exists in some places, but in the West infant Communion was not so general. Here, moreover, it was restricted to the occasions of baptism and dangerous illness.”

“That infants and children not yet come to the use of reason may not only validly but even fruitfully receive the Blessed Eucharist is now the universally received opinion, but it is opposed to Catholic teaching to hold that this sacrament is necessary for their salvation (Council of Trent, Sess. XXI, can. iv).”

Well, let’s see

#1 Unitarian Universalism (handy, though, as one, I would disagree that this is a Christian denomination at this point in its history)
#2 Unity Church
#3 Liberal Quakerism
#4 Episcopal/Anglican Church
#5 Jehovah’s Witness

I am currently attending a UU church, my daughter is going next week to a liberal Quaker summer camp and when I was still trying to convince myself that I could honestly be a Christian, I attended an Episcopal Church for a number of years.

It might also be instructive to look at those in the bottom 5

#20 Eastern Orthodox Church
#21 Roman Catholic Church
#22 Presbyterian Church in America/Orthodox Presbyterian Church
#23 Reformed Baptist
#24 Reformed Churches

I would agree (and I bet most folks who have talked here with me would agree) that I am pretty much in direct disagreement with both Reformed and Catholic/Orthodox theology on most points.

From what I’ve seen from the posts in this thread, it would seem that the LCMS should be a bit larger than it is…maybe some of you Catholics need to convert to LCMS. 😛

#1 Liberal Quakerism

#4 Episcopal/Anglican Church
#5 Mennonite Brethren

#20 Presbyterian Church in America/Orthodox Presbyterian Church
#21 Reformed Baptist
#22 Reformed Churches
#23 United Pentecostal Church
#24 Roman Catholic Church

Have to admit I’m not at all surprised at either the top or bottom two.
