Christian Group Says Apocalypse Coming on May 21, 2011

But here’s the real kicker:

I would love to know how they came up with this calculation. This is one of the many false teachings that St. Paul warned us about:
For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. 2 Timothy 4:3-4

I pray for all of these well-intentioned but horribly misguided people who follow Mr. Camping’s teachings (who also predicted Christ’s return in 1994). I also pray for Mr. Camping that he learns the Truth of Jesus Christ and His Bride the Holy Catholic Church!
 
I agree with Nine_two. Jesus said we will not know the hour. We are also not supposed to be spending too much time thinking about it, which I had to stop doing lately, becasue I had a very vivid dream back in the summertime of a really big earthquake. It hasn’t happened yet, well I live in California so there have been many haha. In either event we are supposed to be AWARE of the end coming, someday,and be PREPARED. If there was a specific date set then people would be trying to get in all the sins they can just before… I do admit I get a little excited when I see current events such as the birds dropping dead in different places of the world, and the River in Canada turning green. I get excited because if it’s the Lord’s will to come right now I would be happy. But I try not to will it myself, rather trust in His time. 🙂

so i get to leave iraq early?:confused: how come my leadership has not told me this. i thought i was going back to hawaii…this is even better!!!😛 wow! what a deal! from purgatory, in the desert, straight to the company of my brothers, sisters and Jesus and Mary! hope they have beer there. its been awhile…somehow, i think its just not gonna happen, and ill still be here, Lord willing. lot of work to be done yet. Peace yall. 🙂
 
What I did NOT see in the article was HOW this man “calculated” his prediction. I would like to see his Step-By-Step procedure.:rolleyes:

Live your life as if EVERYDAY might be your last one here on earth (which means staying in a State of Grace…so git to confession ya’ll:thumbsup:) and there will be nothing to fear and EVERYTHING to look forward to with joy and peace.👍

My birthday is the 24th of May, think they might “recalculate” their timeline as a present for me?😛
 
Why is it the world never ends before April 15th? I think it must be a government conspiracy.
 
I can’t help but notice the individual asking for biblical evidence that this is wrong hasn’t been back since biblical evidence that this is wrong has been given.

Why would one want to get in all the sins they can if they knew the Lord was coming? I would think it would be quite the opposite.
 
Btw, is there such a reading in the liturgal years ABC called Apocalypse? (Revelation… I am a bit confused).
 
If you guys want to get a kick, head over to a Messianic Jewish temple as an observer. Sit on the side toward the back and enjoy the show.

Everyone is so firendly as the men greet you with a “Shalom” at the door. It starts off fine, all very interesting, like a fusion of mainstream Judiasim and Evangelical Rock and Roll styles of worship, ancient chants and electric guitars. But about half way through, after a very nice homily, it degenerates into some guy reading headlines out of the newspaper, his face red, seriously, I thought he was gonna pop a vein, as he screams at the top of his lungs “Judgement day is here!” and “Yeshua is coming NOW!” and everyone shouting “Amen” and “That’s right” back at him.

Then they all go downstairs and eat bagels and lox. It’s really a surreal experience and worth the price of gasoline to see it.

dont waste your money. hawaii is overated. i would go in april though if you are going. then the rainy season will be over, and the tiger claw blooms will be out. very pretty…😃

I checked with United Airlines. Although the Last Judgment will be May 21, 2011, they tell me my frequent flier miles can still be redeemed until Armageddon, should that occur on October 21. Most airlines are operating their regularly scheduled flights through Armageddon.

Do they have any plans and projects that extend beyond May 11? If they do, why would anyone take them seriously?

And if they are wrong, hopefully they will have the honor to shut down their entire organization.

Unfortunately, I’m not very hopeful about that. They will remain as a menace to the Church for years to come.

(Note: I’m an ecumenical Protestant–by “the Church” I mean all baptized believers, not just the Roman Communion. I don’t think they’re that much of a menace to you guys!)
 
This has happened before, and not just with Christian groups. Some years back, I recall listening on the radio as a commentater described how a man had figured it all out. Somewhere in the 1980s I believe.

And let’s not forget Y2K. I was there and the lights flickered once - that was it.

I feel bad for anyone who has a due date AFTER may 21, 2011 that believes this nonsense. Jesus himself said that “no one knows the day or hour” and that we should always be alert. We can’t be like the foolish bridegrooms who did not have oil for their lamps.

I have a random facebook friend (not a real life friend…its like a game app friend or pro life group friend, but I don’t know her personally) that believes this nonsense. Now if this date were a tuesday instead of saturday and it had been announced by Disney that they were releasing SONG OF THE SOUTH on BLU RAY on May 20th or 21st, then I’d believe that the end of the world is coming.
