Wiccans can gain knowledge about situations, but the information is always distorted and brings about alot of upset and confusion, where good cannot prevail.

To AntiTheist: you obviously don’t understand Catholicism. There is a component of teen rebellion that goes into the mix, but they’re not the core of the movement. With very very few exceptions, I have found that anyone beginning before their mid 20s, at least, tends to fade out of it within a year or two when they find some other subculture or fad to latch onto. I myself did not dedicate myself to the path formally until age 35, after the better part of a decade of introspection and discernment. The average age of the people I work with in this area is mid-40s, and I will not take on anyone who is not at least 28 or 29. It’s also a very poor way to feed your ego, as it leads you to confront all aspects of yourself. It is a process that tears down any delusions you harbor about yourself. It is a journey that will lead you to do more than you ever thought possible, but it’s not a dodge for responsibility or a way to lord power over others. As to Wicca “making a fashion statement,” I will tell you that I have all the fashion sense of Bill Gates, back in the day before he had a butler to look after such things.
 
I take Wiccans about as seriously as those folks that dress up like Klingons at Star Trek conventions! Ka-plah! 😃

You should probably take them more seriously than what you do. They embrace evil and they get their power from Satan and the demons.
 
I appreciate what you’re saying but I find them silly and they take themselves too seriously IMO. It’s a bunch of hooey, magic and pagan wannabees. Most of them will tell you they’re white witches and believe in good witchcraft, pagan deities and nature, etc. not Satan-worship and bowing down to altars of Ashtaroth. They get their jollies wearing robes in the dark with torches and going to Stonehenge playing druid. I’m not going to lose sleep over them. And as far as agents of the devil, we have so many agents of Old Nick around in the form of adulterers, porn peddlers, socialists in the government, MTV, hip hop, abortion clinics, politicians, people divorcing and remarrying, talk shows, Oprah, you name it. The Wiccans cause a lot less mayhem than these folks!

They may not believe that they are worshiping the devil and demons but in reality they are. If you’re not worshiping God, you’re either worshiping idols or demons or the devil.

You guys are in complete agreement on how religion should function in society. The rest is just theological quibbles which you could all get sorted out with the right trade of opium, goats, wives and rocket launchers at a lora jurga. We’re wasting good money and treasure fighting this war if the abrahamics are all reading from the same page anyway.
 
I’m not defending them or condoning this stupidity, I’m just saying that I think they’re a bunch of blow-hards and cheesy. You’re correct that they’re serving Satan whether they realize it or not, correct. But then again Satan is controlling all the other things I mentioned. I think abortion, the gay agenda, people like Oprah and Ellen, MTV, and hip hop do far more to ruin our culture and strip it of Christianity than a pack of wiccans dressed like something out of the Wicker Man.

There are many examples of a bizarre blending of Christian(??)/pagan practice. e.g. Voodoo and Virgin Mary are combined from New Orleans to Rio De Janero and many places in between.

Voodoo rituals have been performed to help the N.O. “Saints” win home football games in their Super Dome built over a graveyard. The Saints won the Super Bowl. Marie Laveau would be proud–not sure about Virgin Mary.

Bizarre is the right word.

It’s not cool to throw in rude misconceptions along with blatant falsehoods. Also, have you LOOKED around at what Catholics do? That’s something saying that Wiccans are full of hooey when Catholicism has a parallel to almost everything they do.

I believed that if you do not believe in that kind of power, it has no effect on you. Not true.
That kind of power comes from shedding of blood…or destroying a good person through calumny and using clairvoyance to confuse people, even priests.

It was a horrendous experience that brought about the loss of faith of my older children, and complete alienation and rejection of the Church by my husband, because she would win conflict after conflict, deceiving even priests.

It is no joke.

There is no magic. It’s called the power of suggestion. It only works if you believe it works. If I speak in tongues and cast a spell on you, you believe it’s a spell, you’ll be looking for the next bad thing that happens. Good and bad things happen regularly. That’s life. You can always count on the next good or bad thing. the only question is whether the receiver believes it came from another person. Voodoo works the same way. Some would say our Church works the same way: taking credit for the good and blaming the bad on fate. The difference is humility and sacrifice for others produces deep love for others and God, versus love of self.

Maybe there aren’t any good agnostic, I Can’t Decide Whether To Believe Or Not I have No Opinion On Anything, message boards out there. Best of luck in finding a good agnostic board. But being by nature indecisive as an agnostic, you probably will have trouble deciding if you should commit to the agnostic board or not 😛 I kid with you…

But seriously, you are on a Catholic message board. Some folks in here are going to try and respect Wiccan religion and neo-pagan nonsense, I give it no quarter. I find it silly. It’s for people who watched The Wicker Man one too many times or got goose pimples at Stonehenge. That’s fine. I just don’t take it very seriously. Some people also in here get all scared and in an uproar as if these Wiccans are a serious threat to Christendom. As I pointed out, abortion, secular brainwashing, Obama, Oprah, cohabitation, MTV, and liberalism as well as moral relativism are all a touch more threatening to the faith of the average Christian than a few folks dressing up like Stevie Nicks and chanting into crystal balls. If you’re trying to get me riled up with your post mocking Catholicism in a chiding, sarcastic attempt toward over-generalizing, mission not accomplished. You have the right to feel that way. I just disagree with ya. I know those things you said aren’t true so, as a result, I have nothing to get riled about. Just as some Wiccan shouldn’t get their pagan robes in a twist over what I said. No, gurney, that’s the same thing that you just did. You just mocked them in a chiding, sarcastic attempt toward over-generalizing. I was attempting to show you the same thing from the point of view of a Catholic on the receiving end.

If you can’t read the intent behind my words (which I thought was fairly obvious) then YOU probably need to get off of this message board and interact with people a little bit more… and that’s saying something considering you teach children.

But, whatever.

You’re an agnostic so you can’t commit to even whether you believe in any god or not. Nuff said. I know what you were attempting to do. I stated that in my last post if you’d take the time to read it all. My reading comprehension is fine, thanks. And when it comes to teaching kids, you have no business judging my social skills or teaching ability based on the simple postings of a message board. An agnostic who can’t make a decision or commit or figure out religion attempting to enlighten me is the height of irony. Go back and read my post and see that I did indeed mention your thin attempt to be didactic. I don’t know what you do for a living, so I’ll reserve my judgment as to whether you’re competent or not.
