Wings, I’m not going to play the my daddy can beat up your daddy wrestling match. I am Catholic. I’m on a Catholic message board. Makes sense. You’re an agnostic so you can’t commit to even whether you believe in any god or not. Nuff said. I know what you were attempting to do. I stated that in my last post if you’d take the time to read it all. My reading comprehension is fine, thanks. And when it comes to teaching kids, you have no business judging my social skills or teaching ability based on the simple postings of a message board. An agnostic who can’t make a decision or commit or figure out religion attempting to enlighten me is the height of irony. Go back and read my post and see that I did indeed mention your thin attempt to be didactic. I don’t know what you do for a living, so I’ll reserve my judgment as to whether you’re competent or not. Ironically the girls in my class frequently end arguments with “but what----eeever!”

I must say that I was not looking for such things and have not believed in any such powers…I thought I made it clear.

There have been other people throughout the country that were affected by this same person. I know a woman from South Africa who came here and who was the only person who believed me…as well as the designated exorcist for my diocese.

It took me over 11 years…and the greatest damage was that nobody believed me. I always affirm the power of Jesus Christ…

There are those in Africa, priests who have been hit as well…

I don’t want to go any more into this experience…it was that bad. to say that I let this person have power over me does not bear weight to the situation at hand.

ManOnFire, awesome post, dude. Succinct and true. Thanks for this.
There is no magic. It’s called the power of suggestion. It only works if you believe it works. If I speak in tongues and cast a spell on you, you believe it’s a spell, you’ll be looking for the next bad thing that happens. Good and bad things happen regularly. That’s life. You can always count on the next good or bad thing. the only question is whether the receiver believes it came from another person. Voodoo works the same way. Some would say our Church works the same way: taking credit for the good and blaming the bad on fate. The difference is humility and sacrifice for others produces deep love for others and God, versus love of self.

I’ve heard of these “Christian” Wiccans before, but as stated numerous times on this thread you simply cannot be Christian and Wiccan at the same time. It’s a complete contradiction. I believe it is similar to New Age esque, Eastern inspired religions that incorporate random Christian terms and doctrines into their anything goes faith.

I actually find the idea rather offensive, “Christian” Wiccans. According to religioustolerance.org, some Wiccans recite the “Lady’s Prayer” which is their verison of the Lord’s Prayer and is about the earth being a goddess.

Also from the same site, they say that “Christian” Wiccans are ones who [supposedly] worship the Christian God, but cherry pick parts of the Bible to believe in and have special respect for the earth, seasons etc. but also add their own twist to the “Christian” part of their belief for instance; since Wiccans believe in a goddess and god, they replace the usual Wiccan deity with Jesus as the God and Mary as the goddess (also some substitute wisdom personified (twisting Scriptures) “Sophia” as the goddess part of their dual deity). Some “Christian” Wiccans say that Jesus married Mary Magadelene and the wedding of Cana was their wedding.

So it’s not really “Christian” it’s more like random bits and pieces, here and there, rewrapped and interpreted incorrectly, cherry picked of the Bible and Christianity, mixed with Wiccan beliefs and packaged as some sort of Christ-Wiccan hybird.

Nowings, you are a fundamentalist at heart, because you express the same deliberate misconceptions of Catholics.

One of our biggest headaches is the influx of young people in recent years who are basically just poorly-formed Christians (often Catholics), who simply want to have a bit of rebellion and New-Age trappings.
Oh tell me about it. Got a Wiccan friend that thinks she is the incarnation of an Egyptian Goddess named Rehala or something like that… Sweet girl but confused.
HAHAHAHAHA wiccans make me laugh!!! THere religion is so wierd and all it does is feed there egos. Some do it to be different and some are just crazy.
What is so wierd about it?
There is a component of teen rebellion that goes into the mix, but they’re not the core of the movement. With very very few exceptions, I have found that anyone beginning before their mid 20s, at least, tends to fade out of it within a year or two when they find some other subculture or fad to latch onto. I myself did not dedicate myself to the path formally until age 35, after the better part of a decade of introspection and discernment. The average age of the people I work with in this area is mid-40s, and I will not take on anyone who is not at least 28 or 29.
All I’ll ever teach people is theology and worship. At least for now, I think if we started with that it help lose alot of flakes.
It’s for people who watched The Wicker Man one too many times or got goose pimples at Stonehenge. That’s fine. I just don’t take it very seriously. Some people also in here get all scared and in an uproar as if these Wiccans are a serious threat to Christendom.QUOTE]

Never been to Stonehenge or seen The Wicker Man myself. Of course I prefer people to not take us Pagans seriously right now. Better it happen AFTER we are firmly entrenched and better able to deal with the fallout.

I think NoWings point was how Gurney is taking the same apporach to Pagans as Fundamentalist do towards Catholics. An that to an outsider Catholicism is just as weird as Pagansim.

PS: I believe you over your issues with the lady in white. It has always been the fact no one takes us seriously that gives us Pagans are best chance to grow and become entrenched.

Hi Cyber,

I’m not taking the same approach as fundamentalists do toward Catholics. Fundamentalists think that Catholics fell off the wagon and adopted/embraced pagan ideals. As a Catholic, I think paganism and wiccans, etc. are just frustrated with religion and the established Christian majority. They’re mystics who want something different and have a poetic, somewhat chaotic, earthy view of life. They often want to make a god in their own image and have a specialized god for different occasions. They romanticize religions that died out and think they can resurrect them somehow into something meaningful.

I’d like to ask you, and I do ask respectfully, what draws you to this pagan thinking and do you seriously believe in it? Do you actually truly buy into it and were you ever a Christian? What makes you choose paganism over the Risen Christ? You seem like a charitable, intelligent poster, just curious.

I got a Pagan Q & A thread so I am answering this over there to keep it on topic. Here is the linkforums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=6316737#post6316737

Cyber,

I went to a New Age shop when it was happening and they told me they do not do evil what that woman did, does…

I finally found a man who dealt with her so many years ago. She apparently had done the same thing to other people who found out…for me, it was the Holy Spirit coming to me in a strong way to discern her. She goes all over the world. This lady from South Africa said she picked up she is on a very high priestess level and really considers me a small fish. Good. The man wants to do an expose on her, but won’t as he and others are protecting me.

Her behavior and actions were so incredible…the priest exorcist told me way back then when everybody thought I was nutts, that she was wiccan and used goat horns to gain information from demons. So when a difficulty would come for her, she would literally go on an all out assault, gaining info, twisting it, people thinking confidences were kept, and then all kind of chaos.

I met a couple who defended her at the time. Hadn’t seen or spoken to them for 10 years. Asked about their ‘group’…The first response, ‘She is evil and we left several years ago.’ She passed false statements about them out into the community.

She breaks sacred relationships, turns people against each other, and labels people making herself the victim.

I was fully exonerated in writing to my diocese, but it takes people a long time to let go of an image once they hear falsehood. I was removed from another organization because of the label.

Deliberate lies of another person is parallel to character assasination…the KGB were very good about it…was the mind behind the play, ‘The Deputy’ that maligned and labelled Pope Pius XII. Someone who finally found out the woman’s MO said she operated like them with disinformation…

I mean, it doesn’t take magic.

Greetings,

Freedom of speech can often be called Blasphemy. Bible Passage: Jeremiah 6:16 (New International Version) Relay’s the Lords word.

“Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it and you will find rest for your souls.”

My interpretaion of the ancient pathways, are the pagan pathways. The pagan pathways are the pathways of all those who call themselves a witch. My explanation of Christian Witchcraft is from a spiritual perspective. I am a minister with the Assembly of Jesus Christ and The Church of Christian Witchcraft. Christian witchcraft and the Assembly of Jesus Christ have taken the fear out of the Bible, God and Christianity through offering the parishioner an alternative faith so Christianity can still be a part of their lives.

As soon as any religion alienates the equality and diversity of an individual that individual will start seeking their spiritual guidance and enlightenment elsewhere.

Seeing Christ in a new light is what separates a Christian Witch from a Catholic, Baptist, Mormon or protestant. A Christian Witch is an open minded, free thinking individual who is encouraged to think for themselves using the principals of humanity as their guide.

Everyone has their own unique take on Christian Witchcraft. I have been a practicing Christian Witch for thirty two years and a professional psychic for twenty seven.

Christian Witchcraft and The Assembly of Jesus Christ offers the teachings of Jesus Christ to be heard from a humanitarian perspective.

All faith and religion is open to individual interpretation. Those who believe in Christen Witchcraft have many diversified beliefs and opinions; this is why it is so important that each person find the belief system that is right for them. The misinterpretations of a human beings mind can be extremely dangerous. Opinions are only right to those who speak them and to those who follow them as their own truth. Look for your own truth in the definition of the faith you chose to follow.

My truth concerning Christian Witchcraft is this: most Christians, (including myself) were brought up on the self serving interpretations of the original Bible. I say: “Self Serving” because each church leader’s interpretations serve to benefit their own beliefs, as well as the individual beliefs of their church founder. (Very few churches serve to inspire or please the diversity of their congregations.) My church offers a fresh perspective on some old interpretations, while allowing The Parishioner to make their own choices and formulate their own ideas. The points of views expressed in my church are only there to guide you and to show you another way that may be different then your own yet worthy of your attention.

What is humanity and how can it help our society today? The definition for humanity is: Every single human being who inhabits this planet. Humanity is an act of being humane, tender, generous, broadminded, charitable, considerate, forgiving, helpful, lenient, liberal, open minded, tolerant, and understanding. Humanity is an act of showing kindness, mercy, sympathy and compassion for people and animals. The more faith you have in humanity the more open your mind will become.

Jesus Christ was against commerce yet the religions that have been formed in his name are all big money making businesses. Jesus taught the barter system. “Our gifts of talent and creativity are our riches as surely as Gold and Silver are the riches of the Earth. It is not money that we should be using to survive here on this Earth. It is our talents; skills and creativity. These are the things we were given to make our livelihood. Use the gifts you have been given in exchange for that which you need to survive and let no man or woman keep you from your right to prosper here.”

From the dust of the Earth all life came and back into the dust we all must go. Our natural order is to live our lives as defenders and protectors of all life.

My beliefs on Christian Witchcraft are this: Although the Bible and many Christians shun witchcraft, it is no secret that the original Bibles God and Christ himself used their own powers of witchcraft and psychic awareness to rule the nations.

“One man’s sin cannot be another man’s holy ground.”

The Holy Bible teaches us to condemn witchcraft, yet In the American dictionary Witchcraft is defined as being the practice of sorcery or magic. The definition is in the dictionary and cannot be disputed. So, with that knowledge wouldn’t you agree that parting the red sea, turning water into wine, breaking one loaf of bread into several new loaves, sending plagues and curses to destroy entire lands, healing telepathically with the touch of a hand and making burning bushes speak, are all feats of paranormal activity and supernatural magic? In essence, they are feats of witchcraft and so this is how the Christian Witch was born.

It is my belief that no religion should practice or preach intolerance or sacrifice of any kind. This is what is important. Not who is practicing Sorcery. All religions should teach humanity. Any religion that is against gay rights, animal rights, Women’s rights, human rights, witchcraft and other religious beliefs are also against humanity. I do not condone negative religious practices. I believe in standing up for what is right even if you are standing alone. (You Can Start A War With One Disagreement. You can prevent A War When All Parties Involved Agree To Act Humanly.)

Mohandas Gandhi said: “I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” I say:

“I shed a tear, not for the loss of the individual humanitarians that once walked this Earth, but for the humanity they left behind that is still unheard by so many men.”
