I hate political correctness.
It’s not about good manners (or lack there of), but stifling opinions and lifestyles that aren’t popular among Liberals and elitists.
A lot of people feel like they can’t talk about their values these days because they’ve seen what happened to the guy who used to run Mozilla - who was forced to leave his job just because he gave a political donation to a pro-family, anti-gay marriage group.
They’d rather shut up and go along with the crowd than lose their jobs and community standing.
And it’s just nuts that college kids routinely try to get their universities to “dis-invite” conservative speakers because of their opposing ideology. And if they can’t get the guest “dis-invited” they try to shout down and mob them. Google Ben Shaprio.
It’s really just sad that these kids are offended when someone takes a piece of chalk and writes “Trump 2016”.
I’m seriously wondering at what happened to “sticks and stones can break my bones, but names will never hurt me.”
It’s just a really different mentality than a lot of us grew up with (not so long ago).
Political correctness is destroying America. We have a president who refuses to point out that the extremists blowing people up are Islamic. (No, not all Muslims are terrorists, but at least let’s be honest about who these people are and what their ideology is.)
Not offending people is valued more than telling the truth, unless you are a white working class Christian.
Then people can make fun of you and your values without social pressure to change the behavior.
As a political and religious conservative, I hold my tongue a lot these days on social media because every discussion ends up turning into “you’re a racist, homophobe who also hates women”. Really?
I didn’t realize that supporting limited government and more freedom for everyone makes me a hater. I find that the only group I can have reasonable (limited) conversations with are the libertarians because the Republicans can be just as Statist (and PC) as the Democrats.
And just try telling a Liberal you are offended by something they said…
Oh my…it’s like the world just ended because they can’t imagine anyone disagreeing with them, let alone being offended by them.
Freedom for you, but not for me, isn’t actually freedom.
Conservatives have the expectation that diversity really includes everyone, including all viewpoints, colors, etc…
Liberals have the expectation that diversity is really an extension of affirmative action and Liberal thought. Why would anyone take a political conservative or religious conservative seriously? After all, we’ve rejected those ideas long ago, right? It really is socially acceptable to hate white people and Christianity in some corners. (irony because Liberals are supposed to love diversity right?)
I’ve seen this story play out way too many times to consider my observations just a “coincidence” or a “one time thing”.
The sooner political correctness is banished from our society the better.
