If Christ should decide to give me the crown of martyrydom, it will be a honor and a privedge. šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚

I think about this, and my prayer is I will call on Christ and His grace that I would die honorably

For me as a father, the more troubling situation is if someone were to threaten one of my children with death should I not recant.
Yes, as a parent I can’t even imagine being put to that kind of testā€¦šŸ˜¦

It’s not the ā€œdeathā€ part that prevents me from saying yes. I totally trust the mercy of God and do not fear death at all.

It’s the ā€œtortureā€ part that throws me. I don’t know that I could withstand the physical pain. None us do really, until we are in that situation. I don’t think God would hold it against us if we weren’t able to. I know in my heart I could NOT under any circumstances watch my children being tortured. It’s almost too painful to even think abou it. I just couldn’t - I don’t think any parent could.

But yet, isn’t that what God the Father did? He watched His dear Son being tortured and hanging on the cross for the sins of mankind. What love He has for us!

But God allowed his son to die this way. I can’t allow it.

I am willing to make the attempt, but I can’t promise success. I need to say it would not be my first choice. Is there a catacomb nearby to hide in?

As I’ve said before…being an ā€œarmchair martyr is easyā€ā€¦I can profess undying loyalty to my faith sitting in my comfortable air conditioned office in my soft leather chair…it is the ā€œuncertaintyā€ of human experience which is the dividing line between humans and God…it becomes an act of faith on my part…God doesn’t require faith…He knew the outcome as though it were Reality…as humans we seek the ā€œcertaintyā€ of faithā€¦ā€œI believe, help my unbelief!!!ā€ That is the only answer I can offer…and even that requires faith on my part…a fragile faith that only knows shadows and darkened glass…

Corrie ten Boom once asked her father what it was like to die…Casper ten Boom asked herā€¦ā€œWhen we go on a train ride, when is it I give you your ticket?ā€ Corrie repledā€¦ā€œJust before I get on the train.ā€ā€¦Casperā€¦ā€œSo your wise Heavenly Father will give you what you need…when you need it.ā€ Corrie faced her challenge with faithā€¦ā€œThere is no pit so deep that He is not deeper still.ā€

If my trial of faith comes…I hope I will be faithful…but I have no certainty right now…as I sit in my comfortable chair, drinking nice coffee and eating a bagel.

Yes, as a parent I can’t even imagine being put to that kind of testā€¦šŸ˜¦
My prayer is that I’ve raised my children to love and trust in Christ, and that the Holy Spirit would provide the words with which I could comfort them and they would know and understand I could never deny Jesus Christ.

Oh, I pray I am not placed in that situation!

Christians, are you will to be tortured to death for Jesus Christ or not?

Many of our Christian brothers and sisters died for our faith during the first 4 Centuries.

If we were all being force to denounced our faith, would you die for your faith?

Some of the Early Christians were crucified, cut in half, skin alive, burn at the stake, eaten by beasts, and this happen while they were still alive.
Honestly I think that the question/poll is poorly worded although I sense what you are trying to ask. I did not know how to answer however.
Am I willing to ā€œendureā€ whatever befalls me for the sake of my faith in Christ?
The answer would be Yes of course I am willing.
However, will I have the Courage, Stamina and Faith necessary to endure.
Then the answer is I hope that I would. That I would have the Grace to Rest in God and accept His good will for me.

However no one can know the answer for sure in the future tense. It’s only in the past tense - ā€œDid you have the will to be torturedā€¦ā€ - that we can answer such a question.

I will answer yes I am willing, but with fear and trepidation…

Peace
James

ā€œUh, cake please.ā€
ā€“ā€œWell, we’re out of cake! We only had three bits and we didn’t expect such a rush! So what’ll it be?ā€
ā€œWhat, so my choice is ā€˜or death?’ Well, then I’ll have the chicken, please.ā€ā€

As a parent, I would probably have to choose another option: dying while fighting to save my child. I know that it not the Christian way, but heaven have mercy on anyone who tries to hurt my child.

I won’t.

Manny, I think more telling would be to ask ā€œWould you be willing to watch a loved one be tortured or killed?ā€ Ultimately, most would say yes when it only involves themselves, but the picture changes when it involves their loved ones, especially when it comes to their children.

Love all
Watching a love one die is not the question here. The question is, are you as a Christian willing enough to die for Jesus Christ when someone tries to convince you or force you denounce your faith.

I did make the correct. I wrote it while I was tired.

Understood. I’ve done the same thing.
Write something and then realize I should have thought it out more. We all have ā€œDuhā€ moments.

Overall I think it is an interesting poll. One to make us all think…

This is a very emotional topic for all of us. When this topic first come out I was at work, as I am now. On my way home every morning I call my wife to tell her I love her and that I am on my way home to her. On this morning I was telling her about this thread and we got into a very emotional discussion, in the end we both agreed, Christ comes first, though we love each other extremely, we both love Christ more. Afterward, we were filled with joy because we knew Christ was with us and always would be.

Bless you all, Keep the Faith.
