Catholic League president Bill Donohue commented today on efforts to censor Christmas:
“We haven’t hit December yet and already the politically correct police are out in force trying to censor Christmas. Here’s a sample:
· For 75 years, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce sponsored the ‘Hollywood Christmas Parade.’ When it refused to sponsor the parade this year, the L.A. City Council took over, renaming it the ‘Hollywood Santa Parade.’
· The Department of Housing and Urban Development has censored Christmas religious symbols from its housing complexes.
**· **No Christmas decorations are allowed on school buses in parts of Vermont.
**· **A Jewish public official in Wisconsin wants to rename the State Capitol Holiday Tree the Christmas Tree, but is being opposed by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.
· Chattanooga has banned a live nativity scene from its public festivities.
**· **Sonoma City Council has nixed religious displays on the Plaza.
· Voters in Berkley, Michigan have forbidden a crèche at City Hall.
**· **Fort Collins, Colorado says it is okay to have green and red lights outside city buildings, but only secular symbols are allowed inside.
**· **After Briarcliff Manor, New York was ordered to erect a crèche next to a menorah, the village elected to ban all religious symbols.
· Residents in Olean, New York are fighting over privately owned nativity scenes being displayed in city parks.
**· **A nativity scene in front of the Ypsilanti Township fire hall in Michigan has been banned.
**· **No religious symbols are allowed in Seattle-Tacoma airport, but trees made of cardboard are legit.
· Nativity scenes at Texas Tech are not permissible, but a tree is okay. The official in charge says, ‘We’re not saying it’s a holiday tree, because it’s a Christmas tree, but we choose to do a tasteful tree that really anybody can embrace.’ Great idea!
“There you have it. The multicultural monsters are rearing their ugly heads once again, showing what they really mean by tolerance for diversity.”

Isn’t it amazing how the most violent attacks occur during the Christian holidays like Christmas?

Yes. Tolerance is a one-way street, which means: “We’ll tolerate it as long as it agrees with our point of view! If it doesn’t, it goes!”

Diversity? How do you ‘celebrate’ that again?

Thanks,
Ed

Exactly. 😉

I wrote the poem below in 2005; enjoy!

**Every Christian
In USA
Liked Christmas a lot;

But the atheists
Agnostics
And lawyers did NOT!

They all hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!
Now please don’t ask why—no one quite knows the reason.
It could be, perhaps, that their shoes were too tight;
Or maybe they just wanted someone to fight.
But I think the most likely reason of all
May have been that their hearts were two sizes too small.

But, whether holiday hatred
Or love of restrictions
The bureaucrats each year
Just HATED the Christians!

Staring out of their courtrooms
With sour, grinchy frowns
At the mangers and trees
That sprang up in their towns.
For they knew all the Christians
Were all planning a tryst
To remember the birth
Of their Savior, the Christ.

“And they’re planning parades!”,
They snarled with a sneer.
“They’ll play all that music
they do every year!”
Then they growled with their cash-greedy fingers
A-drumming,
“We MUST find some way to stop Christmas from coming!
For 2000-plus years we’ve put up with it now;
We MUST stop Christmas from coming!
But HOW?”

Then the judges, agnostics,
The lawyers, and Scrooges,
The militant atheists
And all of their stooges
The county selectmen
And odd Muslim or two
All got together
And agreed what they’d do:

“We’ll SUE to stop Christmas!”
They gargled with glee;
“We’ll lodge vicious lawsuits
Against every tree!
Against every manger!
Each wreath and each song!
We’ll fight it with red tape
So hard and so long
That the Christians will give up
On their holiday cheer—
And we’ll call it a ‘Mid-Winter Break’
Starting this year!”

And they snickered and chortled
As they wrung their fat palms
And they planned to ban storefronts
From collectors of alms.
"We’ll make public ordinances!
No trees is the rule!
No mention of ‘Christmas’
In each public school!

We will force all the papers
To not adverstise
Using 'Christmas" or other
Words we despise;
We’ll force all those Christians
Back into their houses
And allow them no contact
With naught save their spouses.**

(cont’d…)

**We’ll make an injunction!
We’ll pass legislation!
We’ll ban the word ‘Christmas’
Across the whole nation!
Religion, you see, we’re completely excising…
We’ll even ban cupcakes
With red and green icing!"

So they set about making
Their “new” holiday law;
And to show they weren’t faking
They bared each tooth and claw.
The principals, teachers, card-makers
And judges, the township employees
The mayors and drudges,
Militant Muslims, political players
And crackpots demanding the death
Of school prayers,
All rose up together and joined hand-in-hand
To ensure the word “Christmas” was now
Truly banned—truly banned all across the
Once-merry land.

Then they all settled back
With self-satisfied grins
Knowing that “Christmas”
Was chief amongst sins;
And soon, it would never
Be heard from again.

Then, a very strange thing
Which they long would remember
Took place on the 25th day of December.

The Christians came out on the steets of their towns
And greeted each other with smiles—NOT with frowns!
“Merry Christmas!” they told each other with joy;
“God bless you!” was heard by each girl and boy.
Though the stores had poor business, the churches were jammed;
The Christians went right on with the day that was banned.

“The Savior is born! Let us sing and rejoice!”
These words on each tongue!
Each eye with joy moist!
The Christians made merry with a Faith
Strong and sound,
Which would STAY that way, even if
Forced underground!

The lawyers, the teachers,
The mayors all stopped
And they stared…and they stared
Till their brains nearly popped!

Their laws came to nothing!
Their rules were ignored!
The Christians kept Faith
In Christ Jesus, the Lord!
They hadn’t stopped Christmas from coming!
IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!

And the lawyers, their grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood there puzzling and puzzling…how COULD it be so?
“It came without mangers! It came without trees!
It came with no angels, no carols or wreaths!
It came even though we OUTLAWED this day!
WE celebrate ‘Midwinter Break’!
WHY DON’T THEY?”

And they puzzled for hours, till their puzzlers were sore;
Till they thought a new thought that they hadn’t before.
“Maybe Christmas,” they thought, “CAN’T be banned
By a law!
Maybe Christmas has power
That we never saw!”

So what happens now?
Well, they won’t give up soon.
They’d be pleased to send Christians
Somewhere far, like the Moon.
They’ll continue to plot to ban Christmas next year;
For “Christmas” and “Christ” they wish never to hear.

But for believers in Him, Christmas cannot be banned;
His Birth will be celebrated throughout the land.
Persecution will come, but this remains true:
He lives in our hearts, and we are made new.
And Christmas will come every year till the last,
And we’ll observe it, regardless of laws that are passed.**

Just more examples of the Secular Relativist motto “Do not impose you morality on us, but you must accept our immorality we impose on you”. :mad:

Christianity in the later 21st century!

Anyone who celebrates Christmas will be put to a violent death!
Masses will be held underground, in the basements, in people’s houses.
The Church will be forced to go underground.
Few will follow.
The moral relativists, atheists, and non-believers will shout “equality, liberty and brotherhood”!
Anyone that’s caught wearing a crucifix, cross or holding a rosary will be violently harassed, kicked around, laughed at, and then shot.
Anyone that’s caught helping Christians will also be slaughtered.
Da Vinci Code will be proclaimed as fact in public schools
Many Catholics and protestants will be fired from their jobs along with Jews and others because they don’t agree with the Moral Relativists “point of view”.
Many priests and religious clerics will be persecuted and even killed.

God forbid such a thing would happen. But that’s going to happen if we don’t watch it!!! WAKE UP AMERICA!

Wolseley I loved your poem 👍
Everytime I hear of a case where Christmas is being banned, I go crazy. Its complete insanity to think that seperation of Church and state means that you cant put a Christmas tree on public property. Regardless of what anyone says, this is a Christian nation, a nation made up of mostly Christians who wish to celebrate their holiday. I also get extremely annoyed by this “Christmas not just for Christians” campaign, where atheists and whoever else are buying each presents, and trying to turn this Holy day, celebrating the birth of our savior into somesort of a generic gift-giving day.

I am not going to shop in any store this year that does not use the word Christmas.

So this year for our pets Pet Smart, Pet Co and Pet Supply “PLUS” are out. Lucky for me I can get what I need for the pets and animals at the local farm store. Some of the on line pet shops are ok also. OK I know it is the Holidays but Christmas is one of them.

Went to Target for candles (Advent colors) they had them for all the other seasonal celebrations but none for Advent.:mad: And no they had not just sold them all. They never had them in the first place.:eek:

Well, since Christmas doesn’t actually start until near the end of December, I guess I can’t begrudge people not rushing to put up the decorations, et cetera. As seemly as some of this PC silliness gets, it doesn’t really affect anyone who wants to celebrate Christ’s Mass.

The Advent wreath is up and blessed. Looking forward to the first candle being lit tonight.😃

The Crèche is up outside (empty so far) and the indoor ones will be up today. The figures go in slowly till the Wise Men arrive on Epiphany.👍

The Christmas tree will go up but only have purple ribbons on it for a while. The trains, well they come out to play for all of holidays as do the memories of family we all cherish.

I would like to ask everyone here something:

Were Jews or Muslims really responsible for the secular progressive’s efforts to ban us from celebrating Christmas? I think the atheists were just using them for THEIR religious indoctrination!

My opinion. Humanists using the faith of everyone against everyone else. As long as people of faith are fighting against each other then they are not fighting the PC humanists.
