Exactly what on earth are the correct times?

I’m guessing different churches have different Mass times and different amounts of Masses?
Yes. Do you have a regular parish or are you traveling around?

I didn’t receive communion because I didn’t know if it would be sacrilege or desecration and don’t know if it s sacrilege or desecration for not receiving
Nelka — first of all, this Sunday is no different than any Sunday. I have no idea why you’d think receiving the Eucharist is a sacrilege but you are not obligated to receive at every mass you attend, it is totally fine that you did not receive.

So you went to mass for the fourth Sunday of Advent (which you could have done any time from Saturday evening through Sunday night).

Now tomorrow is Christmas so you also have an obligation to go to mass for Christmas. So you can go any time this evening or tomorrow.

And you can receive or not receive the Eucharist when you go to mass for Christmas.

I’ve always said “and also with you…” I grew up with it an no little whipper snapper is gonna change it! VII was the limit! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Merry Christmas Father D!

You can receive communion unless you chose to commit an act you understood (at the time of choosing) to be mortally sinful. You can’t commit a mortal sin on accident, nor does the mistaken belief that you committed a mortal sin (e.g. if you thought it was possible to commit a mortal sin on accident, and that you had done so) make it so.

You are obliged to receive communion once per year, preferably during the Easter season. You are not obliged to receive at any given Mass you attend.

If you’ve attended Mass on Sunday or Saturday evening, then you’ve satisfied your Sunday obligation. You can fulfill your Christmas obligation at any Mass on Sunday evening or on Monday.

I do it three days straight & what do you say? Yeah right too much pride & fear.

i am not going to be annoyed w/ anyone who attended Masses during this complex Mass marathon

i found a way around “packed pews and clogged parking lots” and met my obligation…

it is snowing right now now where i live; and frankly, the roads are getting bad

so, to anyone attending midnight Mass; good luck & drive slow 🙂

Love this graphic! 😄

I’m going with options 2 & 3 – mass Saturday night, Sunday morning, Sunday evening, and Monday morning.

Ah, the life of a church musician… 😱

All four were impossible for me as I had to work from Friday evening until Sunday morning. I got to Mass Sunday evening but now on my way to Hell for it. If I were were single with no children and lived on the streets I could make every Mass.

Nothing you’ve said in this thread indicates that you’ve violated the Church’s precepts. You fulfilled your Sunday obligation, and you can fulfill your Christmas obligation at any Mass on Monday.

Nelka, you have gotten too confused.
You had an obligation to attend Mass (ANY Mass) on Sunday. That never changes. You met that obligation by going to Mass on Sunday evening.
Now, today-- Christmas Day-- you have a separate obligation to attend Mass. So now you need to find the Mass times for Christmas Day and fulfill THAT obligation.

Any Mass for Sunday just like every other Sunday, between 4 PM on Saturday and 11:59 PM Sunday.

Any Mass on Christmas, just like every other Holy Day, between 4 PM on the day before the Holy Day and 11:59 PM on the Holy Day.

You can receive communion twice in one day. If you receive twice in one day and get very ill and call a priest to your hospital where you are gravely ill, you can receive again.

It is not about GOTCHA trying to trip you up.

This is about mercy and grace.

Why on earth are you going to Hell for going to Mass? Really, please, give your priest some time to recover from his grueling Mass schedule and then call the office on Wednesday or Thursday and speak to your pastor. Something is causing you undue anguish.

Nelka, I encourage you to talk to your priest for some serious spiritual counseling.

Work is a serious reason that excuses us from mass.

You did end up attending a Sunday mass, but had none been available, you would not have had an obligating due to your work.

I think you are laboring under some serious misunderstandings.

If you cannot attend a mass for Christmas due to your work or the schedule of masses, again there is no obligation due to your work shedule.

Went to Saturday Vigil Mass at my local church, travelled on Sunday, went to Christmas Day Mass at our holiday destination. I’m aware that some people thought that attending Christmas Eve Vigil Mass for Christmas Day also fulfilled their 4th Sunday of Advent obligation.

Hopefully most people sorted it out!

Ok, when do we get the “I survived a monday Christmas!” T-Shirt?

Our priest remarked today that there are actually 4 seperate Christmas Day Liturgies…maybe next year! ! (Vigil, midnight, sunrise, and Christmas Day…)
