I hope every one here will say Merry Christmas again this year and not Happy Holidays. After all, it is the birth of Christ.
Remember:

“JESUS IS THE REASON FOR THE SEASON”

People are trying to take God out of the country, we will not allow this to happen. We Christians must pull together and state our ground. Seems people will be offended to hear
Merry Christmas, well I say that’s just too bad. It is my Saviour’s birth and I will say it. Remember last year all the hoopla about this? Thank God for Bill O’reilly. He stuck up for us like there was no tomorrow. So please, say MERRY CHRISTMAS like you mean it. :amen:

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I’m proud to say it because it is the birth of my Savior Jesus Christ. ❤️

Yep, I could tell when August came, as soon I saw all the Christmas decorations at Costco.

Oh, and by the way, an additional :twocents: on the “Christmas” front: it’s CHRISTmas, not “Xmas.”

I will do the best I can. HOWEVER, I am an Electronics Technician at the United States Postal Service. Have you any idea how crazy things get with all the Christmas cards?😦

If you can find a copy of Stan Freeburg’s GREEN CHRI$TMA$, play it daily. A lot of radio stations banned it when it first came out.

And is it really a Venial Sin to exclaim, every now and then, BAH! HUMBUG! like you really meant it?

ANother hot button issue.

i was just thinking about Christmas today…can’t wait!..

and btw, boycott any product that does not have CHRISTmas on it…anyway any shop owner who is Christian must reject anything else…so buy things from Christians as a community…my opinion.

When I go to the stores after Thanksgiving, I always greet the clerk with “Merry Christmas”, not “Happy holiday”. The cards I send out are ones that I purchase from a Christian store. Sometimes, I’ll even get Bibles, bookmarks, or something else definitely Christian for my family and friends to give as Christmas gifts. Even if all the commercialism, gift-giving, etc. was gone, I would still celebrate Christmas, because it is really not about any of that stuff; it is about the birth of my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

We can start to reclaim Christmas by phasing out Santa Clause, the secular version of St. Nicholas.
We can also begin to emphasize the Epiphany, culminating with the Three Kings day like they do in Spain and Latin America.
Too many people think Christmas starts on Dec 1 and ends Dec 25.

was our savior Jesus Christ really born on December 25th?
We really don’t know what day He was born, but certainly if anybody deserves a birthday celebration, it’s Him! I have no problem with December 25, but if anybody ever discovers the exact day and changes it, I’ll celebrate His birth on whatever day is determined.

I prefer “Happy Holidays” simply because I have many of friends who are not Catholic.

Well I for one always say Merry Christmas. Of course I’d also wish Valke a happy Hanukkah as well 😃 And greet anyone of any other faith on their holidays 😃

If I know somebody is not Christian, I don’t say “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Holiday”. But, I’m pretty sure that a person wearing Santa Claus sweaters would not be Jewish! If I know someone is Jewish, I will say “Happy Hanukkah”, so I’ll definitely keep Valke in mind as the dates approach.

Christmas is coming, as the dollar store so thoughtfully reminds us beginning before Halloween. But Advent comes first, so I will be observing that liturgical season first, as will all our CCD program activities. We will observe Christmas beginning at la Nocha Buena, Christmas eve, and throughout the season until the Baptism of the Lord. We will be teaching on Christmas and its related feasts until Candelaria, since CCD won’t resume until after Epiphany.

Even The Jewish people have and had no problem celebrating Christmas because it is what it is. It is the birth of Christ and everyone must respect that. I respect Hannakah and so forth. But Christmas is for Christians. It’s been that way for hundreds of years. And please, this is a simple thread about saying Merry Christmas, it need not turn into anything else.

Hi,

I use to teach in the public schools and we had to say Happy Holidays. I am SOOOOO conditioned to saying this. I will try harder to say Merry Christmas instead. Of course if I know a person that celebrates a different religion I always say happy whatever they are.

What do you guys think about gift giving? I think it is so commercialized:eek: I decided 2 years ago to only give my kids 3 gifts each because that is what Jesus got. Surprisingly they didnt fight me on it.😃

What do you think?

Jesus is not the reason. He did not celebrate his birthday nor was he born in December.

Hi,
Techniqually your right. It is just the date that was chosen so we can celebrate His birth:D 👍

Why not choose a date closer to his birthday? It’s crazy to celebrate someones birthday when they themselves didn’t. I guess this just adds to more confusion of men addition in your religion.
