In that case you still gain something for you, the satisfaction of hurting the person that owns the car
Yes. I meant an object not an intangible. It is common in war to destroy the enemies resources to weaken them, however the resources are not gained since they are ruined.

I meant in both senses. In that case an army gains tactical advantage
So you have a common example in one sense. And a person may not gain anything intangible from it, it may be unsatisfying.

The sisters weren’t being forced to worship themselves though. The point I was making is that pagans have never been ‘missionary’. The post I was responding to originally seemed to be implying that that is what we should be fearing about the cultural figures in question today. . . .
Pagans have never been ‘missionary’?? Wink, Wink 🤣

Perhaps you have forgotten about Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam and a whole bunch of other religious beliefs, before the arrival and after the resurrection of Our Lord, which spread and continues to spread across the world, through missionary activities. Just take a look around you, even Rome has a grand mosque 😆, while the Saudi’s forbid Catholicism in their land!

The final Mass is now on the web and able to be viewed, as is Pope Francis comments on prayer and a few other things.

I think the relocation of the idols was to a more suitable locale. The Tiber River is far more organic, in fact it must be teeming with organic. They should NEVER have been placed in the House of the Lord which aspires to the divine rather than the base.
