Father-of-four Christopher Jarvis was arrested after uploading pictures of children being abused to a website.

Married Jarvis, 49, a former social worker, was employed by the church following sex scandals about pervert priests.

His job was to monitor church groups to ensure paedophiles did not gain access to children in the church’s congregations."
 
The Article says he pleaded guilty. So there’s no question I suppose. Indescribably horrible.

Reading this headline made me feel actually dizzy. Deplorable.

Yes, that and his own proclivities to sin and the way children are protrayed as sex objects everywhere in Western society. Mere babies are dressed up like hookers to sell products. Children’s clothing, especially girl’s clothing, is all geared towards sexiness. As soon as a girl turns 18 she is expected to bare her body to the world. I blame the whole sexual revolution for this kind of thing–that and the “do whatever feels good” mentality that also started in the 60’s, plus a lot of so-called psychological training is skewed to the liberal left that glories in sexual perversion. I’m not at all surprised at this sort of thing. Disgusted and angry, yes, but considering how our society has slipped deeper and deeper into the muck and mire, not at all surprised.
 
I never cease to be amazed at how orthodox, Jesus-believing, Catholics are continually side-lined, suppressed, and silenced while this satanic, pro-homosexual, child-molesting cabal is allowed to operate almost completely in the open with minimal resistance from anybody. I hope and pray that Pope Benedict the XVI will begin purging the Church of this foul rabble before their infiltration puts any more innocent souls in jeopardy.

This man is evil and God only knows how many young, innocent lives he has damaged or destroyed. It clearly would’ve been better for a millstone to be tied around his neck rather than… This man is evil, he embraced it, concealed it, operated with malicious intent while under the cloak of respectability – he is the worst kind of person; that is why I personally don’t like hearing, “the devil made him do it” or “the cultural objectification of women is to blame”. No one would dare make those claims about Hitler, Stalin, or Mao; and this evil man in the Church should not get that sort of free pass.:mad:

In no way does the fact that our culture has slipped into the slime bucket excuse this man’s behavior. It’s a factor, to be sure because a mere generation ago children weren’t openly exploited the way they are now in our society. It’s the most base kind of sin no doubt about that, but even the most base sinner got there in small steps. If we didn’t have a sex-soaked society he may not have had such temptation and the freedom to do what he did. He deserves prison time, but he also needs his confessor just like the rest of us sinners. We aren’t so revolted by such sins merely because they are terrible but because as fallen human beings we can only say that there but for the grace of God go I. Besides this, we know that Satan is the instigator of all sin, so he can most certainly take part of the blame for this and be rightly repudiated for it.

And where were any security procedures that actually checked the laptop of Diocesan employees to verify what they were doing?

Laziness and unjustified trust are the culprits here, along with Satan being very active.
 
This is heartbreaking. This man and his family should be prayed for. This man was a practicing Catholic in a position of authority who committed a heinous crime against children; whether society or Satan influenced him, he alone acted on those influences and hopefully justice will be served. He is one of our brothers, needs true repentance and reform of character and yes, will need to pay for what he has done. We should also pray for the children depicted in these images, that they will find lasting healing and hope in Christ and His Church and that God may help the courts perform justice for these children. May God have mercy on us all.

It may be another job outside the Diocese, well I hope so.

These people who collect such things, such filth, need to be strung up and whipped.

I’m sorry, I know I should be merciful. I really try to be. But I sometimes think these people should be completely disowned by society and thrown to the streets…
 
Well , at least the usual suspects in the main stream media can’t use the vow of chastity/celibacy as a cause of this behavior .
 
A few points from a secular point of view:

It is good to see the Church employing people in this sort of role. Vetting to stop people like this getting into the roles is difficult.

The offender seems to have been a more serious criminal than some posters believe: he made, and distributed images of child abuse - worse than possession alone.

Quite aside from any religious considerations, men like this need to address their offending, the fact that there are real victims, and undertake professional treatment to overcome their problem. Often, they will not, but some will.

He should never be allowed unsupervised near children in his life again. But he should not be ostracised or treated with such hatred and contempt that he can find society only with other similar offenders. If he reads this thread, I do not think his chances of addressing his evil ways will have been improved. I would be happy (after what should be a prison sentence) to give this man a job (with no chance of contact with children) and treat him as a fellow member of society, provided he was seeking professional treatment. Otherwise, we all know what he will do.

As a non-believer, I am not required to forgive him. But there is much wisdom in the practice of forgiveness, as it can lead to less offending - provided people are realistic about the fact that people like this will always be at risk of re-offending. Oh - and before i gave him a job I would want him to agree to have an independent person have access to his home computer!
 
Truely this man has sinned. Who of us has not sinned in some way or other? Should we pray for him and the children and families he harmed? Yes! Should we forgive (not forget what he’s done) his sins? Yes.

Should we be thankful to God that this man was caught and his crimes will stop? Yes without a doubt. If God hadn’t interveened than this man would still be “hurting” children.

Let us keep in mind, that every Church, not just the Catholic Church has “Sinners” in it. Let us keep in mind that no matter what some of us “Sinners” do, the Catholic Church is still the Only True Church and that the gates of Hell will not previel against her.
 
That mankind is totally depraved since Adam sinned is not the issue. The real issue is how is it that the despicable continue to permeate the ranks of the so-called holy? Some seem to have done so with impunity until the sin is made public.

Only Jesus can remove one from the yoke of bondage called sin. We have watered down what sin might be. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. This would include our leaders, even the ones called spiritual.

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickness in high places–including Vatican Hill.
