usually, my parish gets the tree up 3-4 days before christmas, regardless of when the fourth Sunday is, but the lights never get turned on until the evening of the 24th.

Unless Christmas falls on a Monday or something, the rest of the decorating is usually done on the 23rd (ie, after the last Mass in the church before Christmas eve). It works ok because there’s lots of homeschooling families, so they usually do it.

Sometimes I think we protest too much over the insignificant…kinda like yelling at school kids for walking on our lawn.

Loosen up, guys!
Agreed 110%. These forums are filled with people who make WAY too much ado about nothing. My gosh people, get a grip. If your parish wants to decorate right after Thanksgiving so be it!

Ours generally has most things a week or so into December. Why? Well, our Monsignor, retiring this year at the ripe old extended age of 76, wants it that way. Who are we to argue. 😃
