This new postmodern standard that demands the silencing of that which can otherwise be demonstrated to be true so as not to offend is nothing more than an attack on speech and thought –
My Bible works fine thank you. His attack was not upholding Truth. He was not the standard-bearer against post modernism. Why? Because the issue of whether the Cardinal should be able to serve as host to the President is not a matter of Truth. It is a matter of prudence. In such matters railing against his choice is nothing but holding one opinion against another. In this case, it is an opinion of a man whose profession is expressing such opinions with out even the basic authority of a lay apostolate versus the man with both superior understanding of the situation and the authority granted by the Holy Church.
you would seek to have Voris “shut the mouth” under your construct of “charity.”
I never said that. While he is not a Catholic apostolate, in this country all are able to express their opinion.

(so where are the Archdioceses when it comes to the “Catholics for Choice” groups? Hmm!).
That is an interesting defense of him I hear quite often.
(BTW - Voris did not have to change from Real Catholic to Church Militant but did so anyway – St. Michaels Media is not headquartered in the AOD but in a different state altogether. Hence, the AOD lacked actual jurisdiction!)
And when he did, I spoke well of his decision and really appreciated that he was trying to adhere to canon law.
I do not believe that Voris is accusing the Cardinal of anything more than bad judgment on an issue that one does not have to be a theologian to understand.
I guess this is what bothers me about this. There is no right or wrong here, not “post-modernist” side. So why the attack on the Cardinal? You have correctly pointed out that he is within what is acceptable orthodoxy. Guess what? So is Cardinal Dolan! So again, why the attack? He should treat others as he would expect to be treated, the Golden Rule and all.
Yes, man should be on his knees before God, but to be on ones knees before a man or to evil is … well, unmanful.
 No one has suggested bowing before others. No one has bowed before others. What in the world are you referring to???

FYI - Athanasius was both a saint and a bishop. He fought heresy, not other bishops who held other orthodox opinions.

Hmm! I’d like to know what was said in Part II that caused it to be struck (without notice or explanation).

… in fact, most of my comments in this discussion were purged.

Just a guess (because I don’t know what was removed) but discussing political candidates is not allowed outside the World News forum. 🤷

Okay. I am done with this person who fancies himself a modern prophet, or a Catholic Rush, I know not which. His latest attack on Cardinal Dolan was the straw that broke the camels back. He is devoid of moral authority, deficient in intelligence and reasoning (at least in that tirade) and lacking in anything I view as Catholic. I have lost all respect I have had for him on that last one, unless he issues a retraction, correction or apology. If he lacks the fortitude for that, then I suspect he will stay for ever in the realm of an occupation outside of the Church; a conservative version of the liberal Catholics that live on the opposite edge.
you say your not into his policital ideas yet you call him the “the catholic Rush” which is it?

As a former protestant, I have seen tele-evangelist’s and Mr. Voris does not remind me of Joyce Meyer,Rob Pairsey,Crenflo Dollar, or any protestant leader. The worst you can say about him his his take on catholism is pre Vatican II. As for Pnewton, I have read some of his posts about Mr. Voris and I find him uncharitable at best, hostile and mean at worst. He may not like Mr. Voris’s style or substance, but that is no call to get insulting. I do not wish to pick a fight with Pnewton, I just wanted to point out that it is a rule on this web page we are not allowed to get insulting about the subjects of the thread. If Pnewton
wants to register his disagreement with Mr. Voris, he can say I disagree and leave it at that. As for Mr. Voris it seems like the majority of his critics have problems with him taking
some bishops to task. I would just like to remind our posters that it not our bishops
that are infallable. Bishops make misteakes and when they do, we as laymen should call them out.

This is not in Catholic Canon Law. It may be the American Way, but it decidedly not Catholic.

Also, Cardinal Dolan made no mistake (or misteake).

What I don’t understand is how “calling out” a bishop is lifted up as something virtuous, while “calling out” a Catholic lay apologist is uncharitable. 🤷

Not to speak of Michael Voris specifically as I’ve spent more time reading articles about him than actually watching his programs (:o). It just strikes me as ironic when people are so quick to defend from criticism someone who has a reputation for being fairly critical.

In his latest video, he supports a bishop.

It’s SO Crazy

I’m not a big news buff, but if what he says is true, I’m not seeing the problem.
It seems that some of the posters here take exception to Mr. Voris saying that Cardinal
Dolan did Catholism a disservice, by allowing a pro abortion president at the Al Smith dinner.
It should be noted that there were 2 previus Cardinals had excluded pro abortion canidates
including Bill Clinton.(sorry for the spelling, I don’t spell well and my spell checker is not working.) Mr. Voris has a history of pointing out the when Bishops are not acting in a
orthadox way. On the other hand, he goes out of his way to praise those Bishops who uphold
catholic tradition. Hope that gives you some context.

That’s true butas a pointed out in a past post, by allowing a pro abortion president
to the Al Smith dinner it gives non engaged catholics and hostile protestants the idea
that Cardinal Dolan doesn’t have a problem with the presidents pro abortion stance.
What makes this really bad, is that there were 2 previus Cardinals who disinvited 2
other pro abortion presidential candidates.

I’m not argueing orthodoxy, I’m argueing judgement or lack of judgement. I’m saying that
unegagedcatholics and hostileprotestants would get the wrong idea about the
invitation.

Why not?

Are we, as Catholics, not allowed to have opinions and voice them when we feel someone (anyone) is harming the Bride of Christ? We are just supposed to put up and shut up?

I don’t think so.

so who do we go too if we feel our Bishop or Bishops are in error?

You are entitled to you opinion (which is all it is) and others are entitled to theirs.

Thus my comments about Mr. Voris. I would say the same about anyone who attacks the Bride of Christ.

I would ask anyone who wants to test these two to listen to the speech given by Cardinal Dolan, read what he said, then listen to the Voris episode about this. Then ask yourself which one you think best reflects the voice of the Church.

I have a subscription to churchmiltant.TV, I think it’s an interesting and informative show.
I think that Michael Voris is a forceful and knowledgeable host. But I also want to find out what you guys think. 👋
Do you agree or disagree it is interesting and informative?
