At least one Church of England bishop will defect to Rome soon after the Lambeth Conference, I gather from Anglo-Catholic sources. And there could be more to follow.

I can’t tell you much more than that at the moment, because the negotiations with Rome are so sensitive - and the Catholic Bishops of England and Wales, who distrust Anglican traditionalists, are quite capable of throwing a spanner in the works.

It’s shaming to have to admit that the bishops of my own Church are the chief obstacle to a significant move of Anglo-Catholic clergy and lay people into full communion with the Holy See - but that’s the way it was last time, in the early 1990s, and it’s still the case today. …Read More

I get the obvious impression Anglicanism is disintegrating. That’s what excessive liberalism always does – it destroys from within.

So is he brining the whole diocese with him?
And would he expect to be a bishop in the Catholic Church too?
Ditto for his priests?

May God Himself bring everyone home.

Good news for sure. We don’t have enough of those.

I get the impression that JP the Great layed certain foundations for reconciliation, and Papa Ben XVI is executing a well prepared plan on this foundation. The two are like a Pope tag-team and I believe the fruits of the labour of these two great men are jsut starting to sprout now and will be harvester for generations to come. Thank god for bringing holiness into the world!

I’m wondering if more will become Catholic once Queen Elizabeth is no longer on the throne. I say this because in an interview, Prince Charles seemed to indicate that he doesn’t necessarily want to be in charge of the Church of England. I think that his current sitution complicates things.

I’m surprised that as the “head” of the Church of England, Her Majesty hasn’t taken any measures to clean up her ecclesial community.

I think that “coming back” is a better word than “defect.” This news is awesome and it is a small step forward in great things to come.

There has also been some talk between Charles and Orthodox leaders, with some gossip that he was interested in converting. It does suggest there is a desire on his part if not for something more than the Church of England, at least for more unity with other churches. However, WRT the Catholic Church his options are pretty limited under law, so long as he retains his right to succession.

Regarding the queen, she doesn’t really exercise any control over the church. The Archbishop of Canterbury is nominated by the PM, and I think she pretty much rubber stamps his decision, like she rubber stamps everything else.

For a segment of the Church of England, this is a fair description. For a particular bishop, however, it’s unlikely he was ever a member of the Catholic Church, so defection is a more accurate term than coming back.

I’ll believe it when I see it. Sorry, articles like this with lots of assertions and no references at all for those assertions but that the author has some secret knowledge palmost always prove false.

To add, atht eh time of the Anglican ordination of women it was assured a thousand priest would would convert and many thousands of lay folks.

In the end less than 400 priests converted and almost no lay folks. Like the numbers is in thousands. It was way blown out of proportion and I think this blogger is doing exactly the same.

We welcome HOME all those that come into Holy Mother Church. These priests are very welcomed and needed. Each is precious in the eyes of the Lord God. We will also welcome any more that want to come home.👍

Why be surprised? The woman has never done anything about anything. She shows up at events and waves. She is dumber than a box of rocks.

I agree. On EpiScope.com I read of one female Episcopal priest’s parish which consisted almost entirely of converts! Women priests have been very well received in the ECUSA.
