Every race, creed and category has pedophiles. More sex crimes are committed by fathers - biological and step - than by Fathers (clergy).

By the way, do you have any other hobbies besides Catholic-bashing? Since religion isn’t applicable to you, go bash another faith for a while.

And what are the human sins that have been commited through free will in your church. I believe the very small percentage of our clergy that commited this abuse will find themselves in a perdicament on judgement day. I wonder what things would be like if the media blasted you church for evey scandal like they seem to choose to do for the Catholic Church. I live in a large city and the pastor of the Main Baptist church was taking boys off on his jet ski and raping them. This never made the national news and after his jail term came back to his church and the church paid no reperayions for his sins. Lets not say that this makes anything right but the actions of a sever minority of clergy cannot prove a church unholy. Letting Priests Marry each other in a homosexual relationship that is a different story.

Catholics do not skip over the priest sexual abuse scandal. We are acutely and painfully aware of it. This awareness does not blind us to other things. Moreover, most people only know a little about the issue of child sexual abuse and they only know a little about the priest scandal. Their knowledge is based on news media sound bites. This problem is huge, and as shameful, evil, and disgusting as it is,the part played by Catholic clergy is but a small part of it. The statistics concerning this kind of stuff cuts through all segments of society and non-Catholic clergy are no exception…you just haven’t heard about it.

By the way…although you may not agree…I’ve researched the issue, and I also have a nephew that was abused by a Catholic priest. Even though I have been personally hurt by this, I happen to know that most priests are dedicated men that have never engaged in this kind of behavior. You might want to educate yourself on the issue by reading Pedophiles and Priests: Anatomy of a Contemporary Crisis by Dr. Phillip Jenkins. He is not a Catholic, and he is perhaps the foremost expert on the subject.

Not this ole boy. I was one of the victims. So that boat don’t float with me anymore. Initially this was the sin that coerced me into running from Catholicism. It was a priest from another faith that convinced me of my erronious thinking. This problem is everywhere. It transends religoius faiths. The Catholic Church scandels have been put under the microscope because of popular media intent on destroying Chrisitianity in particular. This is something we should all unite on. But if you are fore homosexual unions, then you have severly disordered views that do not fall within God’s law. I hope this is not the case with you.

My existence on CAF is related to what happened to me. I’ve learned many former Catholics like SIA to have left for this exact problem.

I feel great hatred towards the person who did this to you. I should not but I work with children all the time and I can not imagine the pain this could cause anyone of them. I love them all and want them to grow up Knowing nothing of such things. Thank God you saw the difference between the action of a person that could do such a thing and such a loving church. I have said this before that my father is a psychologist and have been around children confronted with this. It is truly a sociatal problem that must be addressed. God Bless you and hopefully in the future children will not be put in this situation.:mad:

“Always” Catholics? pointing fingers? Countless? Ordained successors of Peter, you said that. Yes, it was terrible to hear of those who were supposed to stand above the rest of us in holiness to be found guilty of such horrendous crimes. This still rankles deep within the souls of many Catholics.

You’re comparing apples to oranges. The bad priests who perpetrated the abomination to which you refer, representing 2% of the total, and a couple of bad bishops who allowed it to happen, are simply bad people who took individual actions astronomically in contrast to Church teachings and civil law. We are all victims of those people, and I will especially mention the 98% of Priests who dedicate their entire lives to faithfully serving God and their communities.

On the other hand, the church wedding ceremony of Gene Robinson and his new husband(?), who is similarly a priest, reflects another serious step in the progressive dichotomy of Anglican/Episcopal moral theology.

Let me tell you something right now! Those priests and the ones that HID them went AGAINST Catholic Teaching and committed mortal sins. They went against the Church.The CC never teachings people to sin. The Anglican/Episcopal Church DOES and is leading people to HELL by doing it.That is the difference. You need to wake up and smell the coffee.It’s one thing to have people who sin, it’s quite WORSE to teach others to sin.

By the way, go read about the awful sexual abuse scandal of the Anglican Church in Australia. Your eyes would pop out.

Finally, protestant clergy molest more children than catholics.

No, the difference is the Catholic Church doesn’t sanction it, they do, God doesn’t sanction sinners but they still sin.

Thank you for expressing yourself on this. However, there is not need to hate anyone except the one who’s behind all of this…don’t even want to say his name. To sound a bit corny “be angry but sin not.” There is such a thing as justified anger. So I relate.

Be at peace, I am okay. I am communicating with people from my past to address problems as opportunity arrises. But I’m not official or anything. Just working on it. I’ve been asked to do something very big and it sounds really awsome. So pray for me. This may be a way for me to get back where I was 29 years ago.

We don’t skip over it. Perhaps it’s the media who skips over the fact that the priesthood is the sector of society with the LOWEST sexual abuse rate. Or are we so jaded that we need to hear about someone breaking sacred vows and molesting to get our attention?
