Yes, you are in wonderful hands with Pope Benedict, a dedicated and faithful servant of God and clearly not just a conservative.
The Church of England, and the general Protestant Christian nature of English society, is just dying, if not already dead. Her Majesty is clearly a devout woman - and rumour has it that it was by her wish that the Church be formally banned from conducting gay weddings - and she even preaches the Gospel every Christmas on TV. But it’s constitutionally difficult for her to intervene in Church law, even though like all British law it requires her formal approval as Supreme Governor.
It is a symptom of something bigger, going through the whole of our society. The militant anti Christian elements have basically taken over the whole establishment.
Genuine Christians in our church are occupying an evershrinking ghetto. The 1662 Prayer Book, still the formal legal service book, has been all but eliminated. Conservative priests are bullied and marginalized.
It’s such a shame, because when the compromise works, it works well. The evangelicals and catholics ended up often emphasizing the same important moral message. It was these two unlikely allies who defeated women bishops. But the great mass of PC liberals are grinding this great legacy into the dust.
The church’s decline correlates perfectly with the decline in national self belief, autonomy, prosperity and liberty of the British people. People not only don’t believe in God - they hate him too.
