OK
Which isn’t related, because circucision is not immunization against anything, except these rare infections that can be treated topically or with antibiotics.
SO…is there a huge problem with raging infections in Europe or Asia with uncirc’ed males? Because there are whole continents of people who don’t circ their boys, and those boys seem to have learned how to wash and to avoid infection.
Well, not all of them in the US, because there are enough people in emergency medicine who have treated those who do get infections or do pass out with a retracted foreskin that they believe the procedure has merit.

I think that the idea is that they won’t have to clean as much in the first place.
And that’s justification to cut off a perfectly good organ that has it’s own functions and benefits, proper to the penis/foreskin? “Well, I didn’t want you to have to wash that extra 2 sqaure inches of skin…so we just cut it off.” Heck, if THAT’s the justification they should have cut off my ear lobes as well, because I’ve had more infections on my ear lobe than I have on my penis, and that ear lobe doesn’t do ANYTHING…and I still have to wash it. 😉

I’m not saying it has. I’m saying that the fact that it might be unpleasant to watch doesn’t have much baring on whether or not it is beneficial. I probably couldn’t watch a blood transfusion, but I wouldn’t turn one down for me or my child if one was deemed necessary. The only issue, as afar as I’m concerned, is whether or not there are benefits and whether or not there are risks.

Right. The point being that we need education on proper foreskin care, not methodical and routine removal of the organ.

You’ve had infections in your earlobe?
Yeah, I had gotten a scratch from something when I was a kid, and it got this nasty infection, right where you might expect an earring on a lady. I was really young, but I remember it taking a couple weeks to finally be over with.

Was it an animal scratch? A rusty nail? A used syringe?

I don’t claim that babies don’t feel pain. I’m just say that thinking that babies are in agonizing pain is a bit silly. My mother, who is a urological nurse had me circumcised. I think she was trying to save me the trouble of being circumcised later, which is far more painful and a much bigger deal. As for me, my penis is fine. I think some people think it’s some sort of thing that makes sex impossible or something crazy will always happen. I don’t mean you do. Just some people. I think my mother would say that nowadays, the foreskin is just another thing that can go wrong.

If it’s being done without pain management, they probably are agonizing in pain. I’m not sure why people think that just because a two-day year old can’t say, “Excuse me doctor, but that really hurts,” it means they don’t feel pain. There’s no reason to believe that a procedure would hurt a baby less than the same procedure would hurt an adult. If you would give an adult anesthetic, you should do the same for a baby.

That is one way to look at it. There is another way to look at it, too. You can argue all day, but it is a matter of opinion.

Actually the opposite is true: MGM removes the most pleasure sensitive regions of the penis

You mention female genital mutilation, which I did not bring up. There are different types of FGM, and all are bad. The type you refer to is the removal of the clitoral hood, which would make the clitoris an external organ instead of an internal organ - and instead of being soft, it would be rough and keratinized. Keep the scalpels away from the genitals!
