Classic movies you are just getting around to seeing.

Recently I finally saw Singin’ in the Rain in its entirety. I think I had only seen the scene
where Gene Kelly is dancing in the rain. I really had no idea what the plot of the movie
was all about. I had heard Gene did not want Debbie in the movie because she was
not a professional dancer. I thought she was fantastic considering she only had a few
months training. She seemed to hold her own.
I own Singin’ on Blu-ray, but in January, I had the pleasure of seeing it on the big screen. There were special screenings in honor of its 65th anniversary. Did a double feature with the new musical La La Land.

I can honestly say and repeat a cliche - They don’t make movies like they used to!!!

I did not see LaLa Land.

I am just not a Kathryn Hepburn fan, but I did think she was good in The Rainmaker with Burt Lancaster. Did Grace Kelly have Kathryn’s role in the remake? I have only seen pieces of these movies while switching channels.
She did, and she acted more like Hepburn did – it was fine acting, but if you’ve seen them back to back it’s a little jarring…

It looks like I have some movies I need to check out!

I just watched “Anatomy of Murderer”. Jimmy Stewart is probably my favorite actor, and he didn’t disappoint in this one. It beat out “Twelve Angry Men” as my favorite court drama.

That is a good movie and a good cast. George C. Scott was good and Lee Remick as well. I am thinking the subject matter and content were pretty graphic for the day.

The jazz music in the background reminded me of the jazz background in The Firm.

Is this the film with Ben Gazzara as the husband?

Yes it is. I always had a crush on Ben Gazarra. Wasn’t he in the TV show Run for Your
Life?
I don’t remember. I do remember an HBO film where Gena Rowlands played the single mom of Uma Thurman, who is an emotionally unstable office worker. Gena Rowlands character was dating Ben Gazzara.

I liked that movie, but I haven’t seen it in years. It isn’t on netflix.

The TV show was from the 60’s I believe.

😊 Then I probably missed it. I was born in 1969, and didn’t have cable growing up.

I remember when a movie was coming on, you had to watch it then and there. No vcr, no Tivo, no on demand. I remember wanting to see a specific film so badly when I was young. We were supposed to visit my Grandparents and my mom said I could watch it there. Well, no, my grandparents had to watch Lawrence Welk. Who my grandfather was convinced was named, Jerry Toll.

Oh you are much younger than me! By 17 years! It was on in the 60’s or early 70’s.
I remember Saturday Night At the Movies and other Nights at the movies. I used to love those.

My grandparents always watched Lawrence Welk on Saturday night followed by Gunsmoke.
