Having one person in their meteorological office comment on what the climate models predict is not showing broad alarmism in the country. They also export virtually all their PV production, it’s just business to them.China is the world’s leading producer of photo-voltaic cells. It’s no more surprising that they would sign on to climate alarmism than it would be for Tim Cook to tout the virtues of Apple products.
As I pointed out in the other thread on this story, the PV business is not a sufficient explanation for a bias in favor of “climate alarmism”. In fact China would have a lot more to lose from promoting climate alarmism than they stand to gain, because their coal business is much bigger than their PV business, even if it is mostly for domestic consumption.Having one person in their meteorological office comment on what the climate models predict is not showing broad alarmism in the country. I’ll believe they actually care when they install scrubbers in all their coal plants, AND keep them running.
My first thought is this might be orchestrated. As I pointed out in the other thread on this story, the PV business is not a sufficient explanation for a bias in favor of “climate alarmism”. China would have a lot to gain in seeming to support western measures to deprive themselves of energy. It would give the MMGW folks a good argument: “See, even China…” Meanwhile, China can go right along burning dirty coal with no scrubbers and gain market share over western economies. As I pointed out in the other thread on this story, the PV business is not a sufficient explanation for a bias in favor of “climate alarmism”. I guess the measure of when an meteorological official is sincere is if he does not support global warming. Only then can we be reasonably sure he is sincere, and not driven by a hidden agenda.China would have a lot to gain in seeming to support western measures to deprive themselves of energy. In China, or any other totalitarian regime, we can be reasonably certain that a government official is publically toeing the “party line” regardless of what they may believe privately. The Party doesn’t tolerate public dissent, and isn’t all that crazy about private either.I guess the measure of when an meteorological official is sincere is if he does not support global warming.
