Climate change talks convening in Ottawa
Environment ministers from more than 30 countries will gather here this weekend to open what is likely to be a difficult and bitter new round of negotiations on climate change.

The meeting is being held behind closed doors, and no agenda has been released. But environmentalists expect frenzied lobbying and alliance-building by opponents and supporters of the Kyoto treaty.

This week’s meeting is being described as informal and preparatory to a major conference set for Montreal in November, the first meeting of all signatories since the treaty took effect.

Scientists have already detected many early signs of global warming, including the shrinking of mountain glaciers and Arctic sea-ice, longer summer growing seasons, changes in the arrival and departure dates of migratory birds and the spread of many insects and plants towards the poles.

Only way to prevent the normal climate change cycle of the earth from happening is to blow it up.

Quite true, but even then you would still have the cycles of change in the activity of the sun.

Bush on Wednesday acknowledged more openly than in the past the role of human activity in causing global warming, as he travelled to Scotland for the summit of the Group of Eight industrialised nations.

“I recognise the surface of the earth is warmer and that an increase in greenhouse gases caused by humans is contributing to the problem,” he said during a visit to Denmark en route to Gleneagles.

Nothing to do with Global warming, it’s just hot air from the politicians.

Good for President Bush 🙂 He gets that the 99% of scientists that say global warming is happening aren’t part of some shady globalist conspircy to destroy capitalist economies.

It’s a startling thought - but what if all those scientists don’t actually have a secret communist agenda but are actually just correct? 🙂
