I agree with you that separating the two is good, but do realize both Republican and Democratic politicians use both as integral and valid parts of their political campaigns.Separate emotions from the facts.

I agree - but I like to stick with the facts.I agree with you that separating the two is good, but do realize both Republican and Democratic politicians use both as integral and valid parts of their political campaigns.
I agree totally and good for you on your emails to the White House. I try to see Christ in everyone and these poor people deserve compassion and mercy. When they are illegal they are open to exploitation - as the woman I told you about - from their employers that wouldn’t be tolerated if she were here legally. Many young women and girls are smuggled into Southern California and then required to work in brothels to “pay” for their passage into the country. Some are worked as slaves in sweat shops. It is truly terrible. We must keep praying.Koda
We have to help those who are in our country. I don’t like what happens to people like the woman you wrote about being here illegally. The feel trapped and have to be forced underground into a sub-culture. As a nation I believe that we should increase the number of people we allow into our country from our neighbors to the South. If they came in legally they would want to become part of our country. We do have to close our borders so that the criminal element doesn’t come in, but we should allow those who want to come here to improve their lives.
We also should work with the nation to our South to help build up their economies. This is not a zero sum game. The more they grow in economic security the better everyones security.
I would like to see more of the trade we have with China now moved to South America. I believe as JPII did that the America’s should work together.
Most of the people to our South are our brothers and sisters in the Catholic Church. They are part of the same body as you and I.
I have sent e-mails to the White House suggesting these solutions for our immigration problems.
I think that after our borders are secured I would grant amnisty to those who are here working.
California is not the place to live if your a single parent. California has to high of taxes.
Me, too. Always worthwhile to find something in common with a Republican.I agree - but I like to stick with the facts.
I guess I see things in black and white. There are laws that are broken when people come to this country illegally. Perhaps you have no idea of the illegals who come into California and other border states and get “free” medical care, food stamps, education, etc., etc. This costs money–yours and mine. No wonder we can’t take better care of our own citizens.I agree totally and good for you on your emails to the White House. Catholic first, Republican second.Me, too. Always worthwhile to find something in common with a Republican.
There is slavery going on in this country now. The woman you are talking about is in a form of slavery. There also slaves who have been brought here from Asia, Africa espcially the Sudan, and from South America and from Eastern Europe . They work in homes as nannies and cleaners and not taught the language mainly in Hollywood CA and NY,NY. A large number of boys and girls who are virgin are brought here as sex slaves and it goes on under the radar.I agree totally and good for you on your emails to the White House. I understand your point of view - my husband feels the same way. But we are all God’s children regardless of where we were born. I can’t see denying someone needed medical care because they were born on the wrong side of an artificial line - to me this does not fit with the teaching of Jesus. And, as Mommacat says, most of them are Catholic. Also, as I live in Southern California, I can tell you that most of these people work extemely hard for very little money. I heard on the radio recently that a new study showed that it was Americans, not illegals, who were using hospital emergency rooms the most. The illegals are afraid to go there. All kinds of people take advantage of the system - including folks that were born in this country. After much praying on soul searching on this subject, I can only say that for me anyway, compassion and mercy know no borders.I guess I see things in black and white. My father came to this country with his parents as a child. Not one of them could speak English. They came over the right way, and worked hard to make it in this country. They were extremely proud of the American citizenship.
We can have plenty of immigrants in this country, that is the American way, but I can’t agree that it is okey for them to flood across the borders and then expect us to take care of them.
I agree totally. From time to time I hear news reports of the authorities liberating some illegals held in slavery rings. I think it was last summer, they found almost 200 people packed in a tiny house with bars on the windows. The people who bring them in tell them all kinds of stories to try and scare them from going to the authorities if they get the chance. There is slavery going on in this country now. We must make this country a more Christian at least or Catholic at most country. As the heart of the country women are called to this apostalate because we can show love easier than men.
Okay with me. As for myself, Catholic first, American second, Democrat third.Catholic first, Republican second.
God bless you for your kind hert. Hospitals are not allowed to turn away anyone who is in dire need of medical attention, regardless of how they got here, and that includes illegals. HOWEVER, since there are millions of illegals here already, how many more can our economy absorb? I guess I am not as generous as you, I get hung up on this little point of breaking the law. I am all for helping anyone who needs help by helping them learn how to make a living and support themselves and their families rather than simply giving them everything. Again, how many more can we support before we bankrupt the country and then not be able to help anyone?I understand your point of view - my husband feels the same way. This Rachael’s Hope you speak of does not advocate against abortion. I looked up their site, this is exactly what I spoke to earlier, repentance requires you to change, not to go along.Thank you for your kind words. Thankfully, I started healing from this about a year and a half ago after a visit to the woman (and dear friend) who was my sponser when I became Catholic. Since then I’ve had discussions with the woman who runs the Rachel’s Hope in San Diego as well as a member of ALL’s Right to life walk 2005 (I can’t remember the official name for it, sorry). I knew that Jesus had forgiven me long ago but realized that I had not forgiven myself. Please understand that when I say the pro-life does not end at birth that I am not advocating pro-choice. I’m simply saying that abortion doesn’t happen in a vacuum and we need to do something to decrease the demand - for without that, even a law making abortion illegal won’t end all abortions. A crisis pregnancy worker here in Los Angeles told me a story about a young Mexican woman who was pregnant. She wanted an abortion because she was 1) an illegal alien, 2) already had kids back home - she was in the US to make money to send back to them so they could have a decent life, 3) she worked as a houseworker/nanny to a family that would not give her any time off so that if she’d had complications she would lose her job, 4) she had no insurance. She did not want to have the abortion but could see no way out. Even carrying the baby to term and putting him/her up for adoption was out for her as she couldn’t miss any work. Another woman who comes into the office where I work (she works for a local bank and is legal) - there is not enough low income housing here and she couldn’t pay her electric bill and her rent too - she is just one of many who cannot make ends meet no matter how they try - luckily Catholic Charities was able to help her but we need to have more resources for these women to help them do the right thing.
Living in a city this size with so many poor and often illegal residents really touches me. I do volunteer work and will start teaching next fall - I really want to make the world a better place. Please join me in praying for us all.
I tell you it is the hardest thing that we who know must do to forgive ourselves. I have to always remember that Jesus has forgiven me so who am I not to forgive myself. I had a mass said for my two aborted children and named them both. I received a great sense of peace after the mass was said for I felt that they had been redeemed. If you haven’t done this you may want to do this.I agree totally. From time to time I hear news reports of the authorities liberating some illegals held in slavery rings. I think it was last summer, they found almost 200 people packed in a tiny house with bars on the windows. Also, I have a confession to make. In the earlier post when I was telling you about my abortion I said that I was married to the father. I wasn’t and I’m sorry I lied about it. But there was that other thread about single women getting pregnant and that combined with the fact that whenever I talk about it I just feel so stupid - how could I ever have done such a thing (even now I’m getting choked up). Please forgive me.
Also, do you have cats?
A blind goat would make a better president than hillary. We’ll have to see who’d be running against her before declaring her the loser. I’d sure like to have the chance to see whether it will be better under Hillary.![]()
No, ALL is not like that. Here’s the link:This Rachael’s Hope you speak of does not advocate against abortion. I looked up their site, this is exactly what I spoke to earlier, repentance requires you to change, not to go along.
I have a feeling the ALL that you can’t remember the name of also includes those who believe abortion is alright. Does it?
