I actually didn’t realize the deal was expiring so soon (and it was theoretically possible to not renew).
Just posting as a matter of relevant news in the world, I guess. And to request prayers for the people of China and every official trying to navigate this situation. And I guess just spreading awareness because this seems like a very worthwhile piece for CNA to have written. They’re a good source.
Article not for the easily discouraged, as it sums things up (in my opinion) fairly accurately in terms of assessing which party, between the Vatican and China, is so far happy with the status quo the deal has wrought. But if you’re hanging out in the ‘news’ forums I’ll hope you’ve self-selected for not being too easy to discourage.

Analysis: The art of China’s Vatican deal
While the last two years have failed to deliver any measurable progress on the Vatican’s priorities, the status quo of all-dialogue-and-no-delivery has strengthened China’s position over the Church.
