OraLabora . . .
Hard conservatives can too.
I agree but I would say three things to that.
  1. This thead concerns Toobin. There are plenty of other threads here where sins of “conservatives” are discussed.
  2. Toobin has been involved in shenanigans for a long time. This is not his first go around.
  3. Toobin has done a lot of moralizing about others. This suggests (to me anyways with all things considered) that he is projecting.
Can you imagine if Kavanaugh did anthing like this in his past? Yet Toobin focused in on unsubstantiated made-up (my opinion) claims against Kavanagh. As did CNN in general.
I would say to a certain extent CNN is projecting too.

Now CNN is calling this incident, “an accident” (which is a partial truth at best).

Of coarse it’s an out and out lie…Toobin knew what he was doing and that it was a work call …you don’t decide to pleasure oneself at work - not on a telephone call, a Zoom meeting or alone in your office …that inappropriate behavior is not an accident …getting caught in the act was not planned I hope but the action was deliberate, dis-respectful and out of line

This shot his character, average people are disgusted by this, and well, it does show more about him personally and is not good. The network and the newspaper not taking action also gets shot for the average person when they see Jeffrey.

Sin and Catholic teaching aside (as I presume Toobin isn’t Catholic), it’s one thing to do some sex act in private, perhaps even silently in a closed bathroom stall without anyone in there.

It’s quite another to do it in view of a video camera in a business meeting with colleagues of both genders and show video of it occurring. Most workplaces that aren’t adult movie production studios would have a major problem with you doing the latter, even by accident. It’s a serious lapse in taste and judgment.

And the article is right that from here on out Toobin’s not going to be remembered as “that smart lawyer who wrote about OJ trial and Trump”. He’s going to be remembered as the guy who did (you know what) on a Zoom video call with his work colleagues. People will snicker behind his back for the rest of his life. Good luck to the network who wants to deal with that.

Could it be argued that Monica Lewinsky ever lived down her scandal? I think she may have hosted a few TV events in the last year. But on the other hand, she is mentioned in quite a number of rap songs.

Toobin could have another career as an entertainment talk show host or an author and could certainly appear in song, but the article is about how CNN should take him back as a legal analyst. Legal analyst is a job that requires people to take you seriously and pay attention to what you say, which is kind of difficult when you’ve done something this blatantly stupid.

I’m sure there are a dozen other smart legal analysts they could get to take his place. Nobody is indispensable.
And I bet there are other “incidents” in his file and this isn’t a one-off.

Toobin just needs to apply to a prestigious Catholic University like Georgetown … GU just hired a very recent adulterer - so the liberal Zoom call a self pleasurer probably is a perfect candidate - and his classes would fill quickly … its a plus that his resume includes the Orange Man Bad credential
