Thanks Gilliam, it was an enjoyable and interesting read.

I don’t know what to make of his comments about the CNN piece since I never watch it and don’t know anything about when and why they re-run a story.

It does seem odd that they would reoeat a five week old story when the big news of the day was how successful and relatively low violence election day was. I wonder if execs thought they needed something dramatic for ratings purposes, being disappointed with the quiet reality.

BTW, the Christian Science Monitor actually does top-notch reporting from Iraq. (although it probably doesn’t have the audience share of CNN)

Good to hear from you again Gilliam. Thanks for the link, I think I’ll spread it around up here in the frozen north. There are a lot of people confused about the situation here.

God bless,

Agricola

Hmmmm…

You’re implying a joined-at-the-hip relationship between CNN and Al Jazeera.

Links or documentation, please.

Thanks for the story Gilliam. I need to share this with my coworkers.

I’m so tired of liberal America I could just throw up. They are just a bunch of “we advocate terrorism” people. Remain silent about the fact that good things are happening in Iraq. What I’m angry about is the biased coverage that “flaming liberal” networks like CNN are doing lying hatchet job stories. They are still hell bent on trying to place as much hate on America as they possibly can. CNN realizes the tide is turning against them, but have regained their confidence. And are trying to destroy this nation by any means they can imploy. Even if it means slandering our armed forces, which is disgraceful. Those reporters should be in jail. But as scandalous as CNN is, I do not place one bit credibility to them. They are scum between my toes. They commit great sins like slander, detraction and degrade our armed forces and Bush (even though I don’t agree with everything he does) and feel no shame for this? I really trully believe that media networks like CNN have lost all sense of morality and sin with their radical feminist, pro-abortion agenda. It seems like they have hardened their hearts and turned their back on God. It is them that will answer for their deeds as we all will. Whether they are good or bad. I wonder if the media networks like CNN ever took their American citizenship or their human dignities seriously.

I hear ya. We have Al-JaCBC up here. :crying:

Wonder how the media would feel if we took their “escorts” away from them while they are “in the action.” Perfect case of “biting the hand that feeds you.”

I don’t watch CNN anymore, haven’t in years.

Maybe it is time to pull CNN from Armed Forces Radio and TV.

It’s about time that folks recognize how bad CNN really is.

The only time I see CNN is when I am in an Airport (And that is usually headline news). I do not even know which channel they are on my cable box.

CNN themselves will point out that they are not an American network, but an international one. During the first Gulf War, many servicemen who spoke with CNN reporters said that many of the folks from CNN–even the American ones–claimed to have no vested interest in the outcome; that they were not hoping for the U.S. to be successful in kicking Hussein out of Kuwait, and would not share any information they obtained with the U.S. military, because to do so would be to choose sides and thus compromise their “integrity and objectivity” as journalists.

Also recall that during the lead-up to the current conflict, CNN admitted that they had agreed to keep a lid on certain atrocities committed by the Hussein regime in order to keep a bureau open in Baghdad.

I always thought that CNN insisting that they were international, and therefore above such backward and jingoistic concepts like American patriotism , was the reason why the Fox News Channel started calling themselves “America’s News Network”. 😉

Amen!!! I am too!

I can’t say that because by the Grace of God all things are possible.

The point I was making is that you can’t be a dissident Catholic and enter the kingdom of heaven. You can’t pro-abortion and enter the kingdom of heaven. You can’t be pro-gay and enter the kingdom of heaven. You can’t be a radical feminist and enter the kingdom of heaven.

You are correct. However, by the Grace of God, all things are possbile.

Much as I dislike liberalism as an ideology I’m reluctant to say a praciticing liberal is going to hell for their liberalism.

This is a decision only God can make - presuming otherwise is a sin. Please see the below from the website of Crossroads Ministry run by a very devout Catholic. The excerpt below actually deals with abortion. See the website at:

crossroadsinitiative.com/library_article/71/Judge_Not__Lest_You_be_Judged.html

What no human being can or should do is judge the ultimate standing of a person before God, based on the inner motivations of the heart. People can do some abominable things based on fear, hurt, or misinformation. Recall the words of Jesus: “they know not what they do.” But what they do is abominable, nonetheless. God alone is competent to judge the heart. We can and must judge whether the objective behavior of a person is bad or good, right or wrong. And sometimes it is our duty to tell them that it is wrong and condemn it. Abortion is wrong. But that does not mean that this particular woman or physician is evil, separated from God, going to hell. And it does not mean that I am better and more virtuous than this particular woman or physician. Jesus said from those to whom much has been given, much will be expected. Maybe the woman and the physician coming home from the abortion clinic have done more with what they’ve been given than I. That’s not for me to figure out. That’s God’s call.
