I’m guessing that this is one of those thought-provoking ways in which people are trying to circumnavigate a life that they feel is full of restraints.

Well people have come to the conclusion that furries are normal. People who have Phd’s and the findings were published in a major psychology magazine that is seen in newsstands.

Cite "Yet another misconception about furries is based on the assumption that there is something “wrong” with furries—that pathology needs to be invoked to “explain” why a furry becomes a furry. Despite this misconception, evidence shows that furries are no more likely to have been diagnosed with any sort of mental illness, and studies routinely find that furries are just as happy and well-adjusted as anyone else in the general population. "

I met some furries and most of them are just kids and adults who are mostly act silly and for the most part the adult aspect is disliked. Many other fandoms, like mlp:fim, anime and such have a adult aspect and they are disliked. I once saw someone at a con in my hometown selling adult anime, i even saw a cringe clip of a Brony mentioning the adult side of mlp:fim at a con and they got cut off.

Not as pervy as a lot of people like to pretend. Just a lot of people having fun and trying to be as silly as possible!

Umm… just… umm… Duval Street in Key West?

Somebody fail in their career aspiration to play Pluto at Disney World?

it’s just another hobby, like dressing up in cosplay or a Klingon or such.

There are furries who just like to have fun with it, and there are furries who basically treat it as a way to escape consequence for actions and engage in all kinds of hedonistic behavior.

There are a lot of problems with the adult furry groups, especially those who get wrapped up in children’s shows like My Little Pony. They make it more difficult, and dangerous, for children to seek out communities for the things they like.

I happened to be in Pittsburgh at the same time as the big annual furry convention there.

I learned that some of the hotels ban the furries because they had a problem with some of them pouring cat litter in the shower and using it for their toilet.

Yes, some of them are just cosplaying. Others have serious issues.

Metalwolf, I think you just need to accept that most people are going to find furries pretty weird. This isn’t the first time you’ve tried to evangelize for furries. If this is your thing, that’s fine…it’s your life and as long as you aren’t hurting anyone, I’m not gonna argue with you.

That said, you’re not gonna convince me that this is a healthy activity for a normal, well adjusted adult. But the beauty of America is you don’t have to stop doing something just because I find it weird. You do you.

There’s a show on YouTube called Down the Rabbit Hole that did a pretty interesting video on the history of furries. I’m not linking it here since the topic lends itself to some content that would be, at best, questionable for this forum, but it’s worth checking out if you want a bit more on the history and culture.

My family and I were once stranded in Atlanta during a flight layover. We got put up in a motel in the 'Hood where a convention of them was gathering. Vid, however, was not the meetup in question. This will give you a glimpse of what furries are capable of.

Pretend? I know a serial convention goer (but, no longer) and I myself have been to conventions. Too much perverted sexual stuff is creeping in, including sexually perverted manga. Yes, I looked at a few to confirm how bad they actually were. The dealer had hundreds of copies of every variety. And my convention going friend has dropped to 2 conventions a year, down from 12, for the above reason.

Even if this stuff has literally zero sexual aspect, it’s still weird and inappropriate. It creeps people out to see adults do something that obviously is only appropriate for children. It’s like those adults who get a thrill from wearing diapers and talking like toddlers.🤢

I’m not saying it should be illegal or anything, but it shouldn’t be surprising that it weirds most people out.

As long as people aren’t engaging in anything sexual I see nothing wrong with furries. I was surprised when a friend mentioned that she thought it was weird and creepy

It’s not “wrong” in the sense of it should be illegal and they should be locked up. In a free country, people are allowed to be weird as long as they’re not hurting anyone else. That doesn’t change the fact that there’s something a little odd about a 40 year old who wants to pretend to be a lion on a Saturday morning.
