I happened to be in Pittsburgh at the same time as the big annual furry convention there. There are furries who just like to have fun with it, and there are furries who basically treat it as a way to escape consequence for actions and engage in all kinds of hedonistic behavior.
There are a lot of problems with the adult furry groups, especially those who get wrapped up in children’s shows like My Little Pony. They make it more difficult, and dangerous, for children to seek out communities for the things they like.
There’s a show on YouTube called Down the Rabbit Hole that did a pretty interesting video on the history of furries. I’m not linking it here since the topic lends itself to some content that would be, at best, questionable for this forum, but it’s worth checking out if you want a bit more on the history and culture.I’m guessing that this is one of those thought-provoking ways in which people are trying to circumnavigate a life that they feel is full of restraints.
