Please try the Bisque, W.G. It’s ridiculously easy to make & sinfully delicious! It’s not figure friendly, but I’m thinking the next splurge time is in two weeks for Superbowl. That sounds like a good time for me to make it again;) !
I’ll call it ‘iron curtain bisque.’ 😉 😃 👍 Yes–going to give it a try indeed!

Our favorite cold day comfort food:

My homemade pea soup with flour dumplings.
To a big pot of water add: bag of dried peas, large chopped onion, 2-3 carrots, smoked ham hock, seasoned salt, pepper, sage, garlic powder, cup or so of chicken broth. Simmer several hours until the peas are very mushy. Remove hock, trim meat off and return meat to the pot. Add diced ham (frozen after Christmas) and diced potatoes towards the end.

Flour Dumplings (flour, water, dash nutmeg–dropped in boiling water)

Chili, Crock Pot Ribs & Pea Soup w/Dumplings! Yum!Everything sounds so good. Keep the comfort foods coming:popcorn: !!

I just had crockpot ribs yesterday and they were soooo tender!

My sister made them so I don’t know the recipe, but she just made up the sauce, put it in with the ribs and let it cook for 3 hrs. DH just dumps a bottle of barbecue sauce on them and lets it cook on low the whole day. Delicious, but a pain to clean the crockpot!
Try spraying with Pam first. Clean-up is a lot easier that way!

I made DH an excellent beef stew yesterday…soooo yummy!

Friday I made pork chops with a pan sauce, this week we’re planning on either chili or tacos, among other things… I’ve been looking for some good, easy soup recipes to try, too. So share away!

Use crock pot liners, I love them.

I made this ridiculously delicious chicken and rice casserole the other week. DH walked in while I was getting it out of the oven and said, “Ohhh, that looks good. Like trail food.”

I said, “What?”

He said, “Like food you eat on the trail, when you’re camping. One-pot stuff.”

I said, “Ah.” Honestly, I think he liked it because it was very…beige. But honestly, soooo good.

I have a hambone left from Christmas in the freezer, I think it is time for navy bean soup, or split pea soup. Maybe I will have time on Sunday, but it is already back up in the 80s by afternoon, tho it does dip to the 40s at night.

made crock pot low-carb beef stew yesterday from the last of the grass-fed beef, which likes to be slow cooked. Squash and turnip instead of potato, plus carrots, celery, onion, peppers, parsley, tomato etc. Left one dried red chili and a couple of bay leaves in for most of the day, took them out for the last hour, so needed no salt or any other seasoning. it was just me so I did not thicken the liquid, but put it over 1/8 C brown rice. very good, and I have 3 more servings in the freezer now.

South Beach seems to be the best way to eat to satisfy both my diabetes doctor and my heart doctor, so that is how I am going. One comfort recipe I do like is the mashed cauliflower, and as soon as they start coming off the truck so the price goes down, I will make that, because mash potatoes is my all time favorite comfort food and this is a great sub.

Annie would love to hear more about your lemon chicken soup!
Might try Sams chook casserol next week too!
Pot roast tommorow- one of the few dishes where nobody bursts into tears at the table.😉
