Sterling Heights Police were searching for a thief that ripped off a church during mass on Christmas Day.
The collection box for the poor was stolen from St. Cyril Catholic Church during Christmas day mass.
Many of the parishioners themselves are on fixed incomes and gave what they could to help others in need.
Fr. Ban Kosnac said, “The funds or the money that is collected here is used for needy families and especially over the Christmas time we get numerous phone calls asking for assistance. You try to help as much as you can.” The exact amount of money in the box is not known, but estimates are between $300 and $500.
